Finally a hotel with character and style in Oulu. Originally it was built as a nursing home for Swedish speaking golden oldies in the beginning of 1900’ies. Oulu was very much a bilingual town at that time. The renovation has been done with attention and care and deserves appreciation particularly as demolishing old buildings has been very much the name of the game in Oulu recently. Very cozy. The room is tiny with a somewhat interesting glass-walled bathroom unit but we were told that this is because no original walls were demolished and there used to be shared bathroom facilities along the hallways in the old times. A complimentary five-a-clock tea was also a nice surprise. Sadly not very good isolation in the walls between rooms, we could too clearly hear what happened in the next room. ☹️ Or maybe we had bad luck with our next room guests.
