Villa Högbo in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

Where is Villa Högbo located and what is nearby?

The villa is situated in an idyllic location on Iniö Island, in close proximity to the quiet center of Norrby. Guests appreciate the excellent location, which provides easy access to local attractions. Nearby, there is a small observation tower that offers a pleasant walk and breathtaking scenic views.

How is the front desk service and how polite is the staff?

The host and staff are described as very friendly, welcoming, and helpful; in particular, Harri is mentioned for assisting guests with island navigation and even offering breakfast to cyclists outside of standard hours. However, there was a reported booking issue where a room was reallocated to someone else despite an SMS confirmation, though the owner assisted in finding alternative accommodation. Additionally, one guest noted that the owner had a lengthy work-related phone conversation, which slightly detracted from the cozy atmosphere.

What kind of breakfast is served at Villa Högbo?

Guests generally rate the breakfast as delicious, varied, and plentiful. A pleasant dining ambiance is frequently highlighted, sometimes accompanied by candlelight and music. The menu includes bread and yogurt, with gluten-free and dairy-free options available for guests with special dietary requirements.

How is the soundproofing in the rooms and how comfortable are the beds?

Many guests are pleased with the comfort of the beds and mattresses. However, soundproofing is noted to be limited: footsteps and conversations from neighboring rooms above and below, as well as sounds from adjacent areas, can be heard. Some rooms lack blackout curtains, allowing light from streetlamps to enter, so bringing a sleep mask is recommended.

How clean are the rooms and common areas?

Reviews regarding cleanliness are mixed. While some guests found the rooms to be clean, others noted dust under the beds, unkempt shared toilets and showers, or a damp "old house" odor in the rooms. It was also mentioned that one room had malfunctioning plumbing and an unemptied trash bin left by previous guests.

How do the ventilation and heating work in the rooms?

Effective fans are provided in some rooms during warm weather, helping guests sleep comfortably in the heat. Conversely, some guests reported a lack of fans in certain rooms, as well as an unpleasant sulfur odor from the tap water.

Are there additional amenities or a kitchen in the rooms?

The villa offers various accommodation types: some rooms utilize shared facilities, whereas the family room features a private bathroom and a kitchenette. A washing machine is available in the common areas, though several guests noted that it had been out of order for an extended period.

Is there a sauna on the property, and are rental services available?

The property features a unique and charming garden sauna, which guests recommend reserving in advance. Bicycle and kayak rental services are also available. For relaxation in the garden, hammocks and designated tent camping spots are provided.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, pets are welcome. Reviews mention positive experiences from families staying with dogs, who were comfortably accommodated in the house alongside their owners.

We camped out with our dog in the garden of this old town hall that is now a private home. We were greeted by a welcoming host and had a very pleasant stay with a lovely breakfast. Als a great place to meet fellow travelers.
There’s a sauna and plenty of bikes for rent. We just took the time to unwind in the hammocks in the garden.
