I love it here and I have stayed here a few times before now. My first time was in 2011 with same family business. The hotel owner and manager are wonderful and very accomadating. The rest of staff are very helpful, freindly and always prompt to serve. The hotel itself is in the best position on the west bank. Only a few mins walk to boats/felucca and buses/taxis/tucs are also virtualy on the doorstep. I stayed on the 2nd floor with the balcony overlooking the River Nile and WOW, I enjoyed the amazing Sunrise every morning!
The bed is comfortable, the water is hot and Wi-Fi is good. The roof terrace is the best in the mornings for breakfast (which is delicous egyptian or continental as you wish). The staff can arrange any tour that you want. I reccomend the Hot air Balloon experience!

Highly recommended! A quiet and perfect location on the Western mainland with beautiful view overlooks the nile from the roof terrace. Comfortable bed and clean room. Friendly and helpful staff and delicious food.

I used to stay here every visit to Luxor, and would recommend it, but sadly my last visit they decided to double the price and give me an inferior back room. What a shame. I now stay at the suberb El Feyrouz hotel which I certainly recommend.

Very good food, vegetarian will not be hungry here :)

As a travelling family we really like and recommend this place in Luxor.

Stayed at the El Mesala in Luxor on the Westbank for two weeks and had a fabulous time! The hotel is family run and is really friendly. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and spacy; the air condition works well, the bathrooms are good, there is always hot water, towels and toilet tissue. All the staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, they are always friendly and happy to help you with whatever you need. The roof terrace restaurant has some very tasty dishes and wonderful fresh juices and soft drinks, prices are very good. The view from the roof terrace and the front rooms can't be beaten; across to Luxor Temple just on the other side of the Nile. There is a public ferry about 200m away or you can get Ahmed Karim or Mohammed to sort you a private boat, a tailor-made tour or a short trip, anything you can think of for very reasonable prices and without any hassle. They are happy to just advise and I found it really helpful for my various trips. I visited Karnak, Luxor Temple, the valley of the Queens, the valley of the workers, Aswan, Hurghada, had an amazing two-day Feluca trip and a nice cool down in the small pool on my returns. Breakfast is very tasty, you can even ask for Egyptian breakfast. Just ask and all is done with a smile. I wholeheartedly recommend The El Mesala to couples, solo travellers, or families. The Westbank is not so noisy and the ferry takes only 5-10 minutes and costs about 0.20 pence. I give the El Mesala absolutely full marks.

Its a middle of the road hotel with good value being clean and comfortable enough. Perfect view of the Nile River and East Bank. Being right next from the ferry that brings you over to the East Bank too. Only a couple Egyptian Pounds to travel across, so cheap. Awesome view of the Nile River, East Bank of Luxor and surrounding areas from rooftop restaurant that cant be beat either. But you had better be in good shape because to climb up to restaurant is a long set of stairs to the top, depending on what floor you are on. Family-run store across the little alley-way was awesome, charging me all Egyptian prices too which was a real treat. If your a tourist expect to pay higher prices for everything, but not at this mom-and-pop store. Payed 30 Egyptian Pounds for Marlboro cigs which is less than $2 USD. Big bottle of waters only 3 Egyptian Pounds, so dirt cheap. Mohamed Rady was wonderful. Providing courteous treatment with his special attention to all the guests. He worked the restaurant and treated us with excellent service & awesome cooking. He obviously works hard to ensure his guests are all happy and satisfied. His cooking is a notch above the rest with it being gourmet and fine cuisine. No hot water in my room, plus awkward taking shower, as water gets all over the floor because shower curtain is too small to keep the water from splashing all over. Had to keep requesting extra towels so I could sop all the water off the floor that was turning into a mini-lake.

Very quiet atmosphere, very attentive staff, speak many languages, comfortable rooms overlooking the Nile River, the very traditional breakfast here (yogurt, fruit, jam, bread and salad) includes pool, the location is quite secluded but you can access Easily to trade.

Clean, relaxing, confortable and the best room views to the nile, luxor and its temple is right in front of your terrace. I have been in 4 hotels in luxor and this one is the best by far.

Food is very bad and the worst place you eat there …

I cannot tell you enough how awesome this place is! Take the ferry that runs 24hrs if you're on the East side of the Nile.

El Mesala is the place to stay when visiting Luxor! You get a five-star view directly across the Nile from the Luxor temple for an unbelievable price! We had such an incredible stay that we just have to write a review! It's rare to find a place you definitely want to recommend to all of your friends! El Mesala's owner made our stay so simple and efficient. Boat taxis arrived like clockwork upon our arrival to Luxor by train, then took us to the temples and to ride in a hot-a…ir-ballon (must do! ). He was also so sweet to change our booking date without any fee Their prices for tours can't be beat! The room had a nice balcony to watch sunrise over the river and temple. There also is an excellent rooftop restaurant to enjoy the fresh breakfast included in the stay! The chef, for dinner, easily accommodates any requests and delivers a beautiful spread to enjoy with the glimmer of lights on the water. We are two girls traveling the world on a backpacker's budget but this place felt so luxurious for the price! The location, service, the pool, the food, the simplicity of not hassling and trusting the price to be reasonable, etc. This place is perfect! You can also take a dip in the Nile if you dare! Its just a motel with very poor facilities provided to guests… very small sized TV. Satellite was not working no clean sheets pillow and you have to ask and order for it many times. I don't advice for other cause the Nile sight is not enough as advantage to book a room in.

This hotel is an absolute bargain. Located right on the Nile, on the quiet West Bank in Luxor, with a pool, a great restaurant and lovely, friendly staff. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel … and it's cheap as well!
