We booked a room at the Sphinx Guest House one month before our trip. ONE NIGHT before our flight, we got a message telling us to cancel our reservation because there were no rooms. All the next day before our flight, I tried calling, emailing, and Facebook messaging the property asking to clarify and got no response, despite reading my messages. When we got to Cairo, we went to the address of the Sphinx Guest House since we had nowhere else to go (it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert so everything was booked) — THE SPHINX GUEST HOUSE NO LONGER EXISTS.
It is now called Egypt Pyramids Inn, and the employees lied directly to our faces saying they didn't know what we were talking about or where the Sphinx Guest House is, despite it being run by the same owner. We asked mulitple neighboring hotels to point out where the Sphinx Guest House is, and they all pointed to the Egypt Pyramids Inn, telling us that's where it was, but the name has since been changed.
Despite this, the employee continued lying to us, at one point basically laughing in my face.
We also spoke with an American tourist who visits Cairo/Giza often, and he told us that the owner is known to be a crook and to overbook and lie to customers. Thankfully this tourist brought us to another guest house (Guardian Guest House) who graciously took us in and made room for us after hearing our experience.
Don't waste your time or give your money to this dishonest business.
