Baba Dool

We have stopped here as part of our "Nubian Village" experience while cruising up the Nile river.
We were provided some bread and "filo dough" and molasses/halva/spicy sauce + hot mint tea or cold hibiscus tea — I thought it was a pleasant visit and the atmosphere inside the house (and now I learn a hotel) was very lively. Others were smoking hookah/shisha, while others were taking pictures with small crocodile LOL.
This is located on the coast of the Nubian village — I had different expectations about what a village like this would look like but all in all this was as "genuine food" as we got to try first hand in 7 days around Egypt so I liked it!

Best place to stay in Elephanine island. Ahmed was great, as was the accomodation staff, always ready to help. It has probably the best view of the Nile and the quietest terrace in the island. It's just magical.

One of the best hotels in the area! The views from the 3 different terrasses are incredible! The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Good price. And meet with Rawia, you will have a very nice talk about Nubian culture!

I had a wonderful experience at Baba Dool in Aswan! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the traditional dishes that were full of authentic flavor. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with a great view and relaxing ambiance. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.

Rawia welcomed us with a lot of hospitality and we enjoyed her dinner meal!
The accomadation is clean, air conditioned and benefits from a wonderful view on the west Nile river side.
We all three recommend this place!
One advice : when you arrive in Aswan, make sure to take the local ferry at good price (close to the KFC restaurant). A little walk will lead you to Baba Dool place and make you discover the Elephantine island atmosphere.

The food was great and the owner brought a complementary tea and snacks for breakfast. She is very kind. The rooms are very clean and cool. Excellent service overall. Great view.

One of the greatest places in all Egypt. Rawja and her kind smile runs this paradise place with great care. They also provide tours to Abu Simbel and other with good prices!
With this calm atmosphere and great view, I don’t think there is any reason to go somewhere else on the island.

Baba doors is the best spot for solo travelers and backpackers seeking authentic experiences outside of beaten paths.

My experience at Baba Dool on Elephantine Island was frankly disappointing. We paid €40 for each double room, and honestly, we felt overcharged considering the service provided. Out of the three rooms we booked for our group of six, one was clearly neglected, covered in dust, and missing basic items like soap. The other two had no towels, sheets, or blankets. Even though we checked in at 11 a. M. When we returned at 9 p. M. After spending the day exploring Aswan, the rooms were still not ready. Additionally, one of the bathrooms had the water heater unplugged, making things even more inconvenient.
The value for money is terrible. The only worthwhile aspect is the view of the Nile, but even this was ruined by loud music and partying from a cruise docked nearby, making it difficult to rest. Access to the hotel is also challenging, as noted in other reviews. They did have the courtesy to prepare a takeaway breakfast for us, but honestly, it was very poor. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, as the service doesn’t justify the price at all.

It’s a quiet place with a nice view. It’s a family run business. The aunt of the family is a very funny and nice lady with lots of stories to share. Perfect place to scape from the caos of the other side of the river.

We had such a wonderful time at Baba Dool. The location on the river is excellent with a beautiful view from the terrace. The host made us the most incredible Nubean dinner all made with organic food they grow on their own farm ($10USD per person). I make a lot of soups and this was the best chicken soup I have had in my entire life. The host also helped us arrange a driver to tour around Aswan when we arrived. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We can't recommend Baba Dool enough!

Baba Dool is a fantastic hotel to stay at Elephantine Island, in Aswan. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice decorated and clean. They have given me advice on excursions, activities and transportation. There is no doubt that this is the best place to stay and rest in Aswan away from loud cars in city centre.

If you want feel like at home and taste a real local dishe from nubian, it’s the place! Raouda is really nice personn and will give some good tips. She arrange for us a trip to Abu Simbel temple with Mando, a really good driver, with à Nice car for 100$, And it was really good trip to do with him. Trusted people for sure!

This guesthouse is very cosy and the location has panoramic views over the Nile. The owner speaks fluent English which is rare in Egypt and cooks very tasty fresh and organic food. We appreciated the Nubian style room with private bathroom, AC and fan. Recommended!

A very unique Nubian-style guesthouse that will leave you with a lasting impression! The hostess is very friendly and an amazing cook, so be sure to ask for any available meal options.
We greatly enjoyed our 5-day stay here. The nearest store is at a 8 minute walk distance, so you do not need to take a boat for your basic necessities.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We felt safe and well cared for. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and everything was vibrant and colourful with a really happy vibe. The food was authentic and delicious with huge portions. One of the hosts even offered to show us around the island. We were able to get a boat ride from the riverside doorstep to directly opposite the Aswan train station when it was rime to leave. Highly recommended!

A warm welcome, excellent Nubian food, a super nice view on the Nil for sunset. These are what’s I think of when I think about my stay at Baba Dool.
We had the downstairs main bedroom for 3 days and I must say the staff or rather our new family was very nice and eager to share with us! They were very accommodating as well to make sure our stay was perfect.
The room was very clean. My only issue was coming across beetles and other insects on the terrasse but that’s me and my fear of bugs haha!
