One of the best hotels. I like hotels which aren’t huge. This one has a great SPA too. The best thing of all is the staff. All of them make an effort to get to know you properly, especially Hossam and all the front desk staff. Due to their hospitality I will return again but longer InshaAllah.

Truly the Old Cataract Hotel was amazing. Made even more amazing by the great staff at the hotel. Specially Ms. Mariam Abdulrahman and Executive Chef Mohamed Amin and Ms. Samah of the exquisite 1902 resturant (the best resturant in Egypt) contributed to my having the best time possible. I must say in my 45 years of life on this our planet, I have not stayed at such a hotel. The old cataract is unequivocally the most amazing hotel I have stayed at in my not-so-short life! Thank you all so much. تسلام يدكم!

Exceptionally wonderful view over the Nile. Historical and romantic place and courteous staff.

This is NOT a place for a meal or exceptional service. Actually, dinner was beyond painful and I asked them to box it up so I could eat the meal in my room. I returned a dish as it was inedible and make matters worse, I had to pull water out of my bag since nobody even asked me about drinks. Come here to view the gardens and architecture. Then, head anywhere else for dinner.

Lovely historical place with affordable price for rooms and foods. Friendly staff always with smile. We took a luxury Nile view room, it was a large room with a small reception and 2 televisions. A large balcony with Nile and swimming pool view, a dressing room and a large bathroom with hot tub. The food was delicious, the fruits and vegetables were fresh, many thanks to all the staff: Mostafa and Mohamed at pool, Hydra and Asran at coffee shop by the Nile river. At Old cataract, you can see the best view of the Nile. Wish to visit again in Winter.

This place almost lives up to it's name (a legend). If you will visit the area one time only, then this is where you should stay. Where do I start? This is where royalty stayed back in the days when they visited. Lots of spots to hangout and enjoy the views of the river and of the ancient ruins right across++. The spa is nice. I prefer the new building rather than the old palace building for the terraces and the views from higher up. Service is friendly and excellent. The rooms (suites really) are large and very well appointed. You can take boats from the hotel's pier to transport you to various attractions or the river, or just tour. Highly recommended.

It's magical place. You can enjoy each detail in every place inside the Hotel. Staying here is an exceptional and unique experience. Very large rooms, fantastic view of the river Nile, great Service and top friendly staff.

Full of original character & features in the old colonial style, the Old Cataract is a joy to behold. A place steeped in the memory of the famous who have went before, I would recommend a visit to create your own. A stunning location for afternoon tea on the terrace, book in time to watch the sunset and you wouldn't be disappointed. One of the many highlights in a magnificent country. We hope to return.

I had stayed here several times previously The Accors web-site said no to my credit card, despite recently using it for another hotel in Egypt, so I emailed the Old Cataract with a screenshot of the 3 for 2 offer I had tried to book with 3 days later I emailed again saying forget it since they hadn't replied. I then got a reply with an offer that was not the one I sent and was more expensive. I didn't book!

Most Scenic Views And Luxurious Mansion. Room Service Excellent. I Have Been There Twice. My Office Business Trip Also Succeeded. Luxurious And Colonial Type Rooms. And I Like The View Of Nile River. I Recommend This Hotel For Everyone. Specially Business Travellers.

The best ever hotel I have visited in this world People are amazing and they are always smiling and trying to make your stay unforgettable.

My family stayed on the top floor of the taller building in a corner suite closest to the Nile. The view was absolutely amazing! As a bonus of being in the taller building, the suite oversees Aswan with a view of original Old Cataract Hotel along with the Agatha Christie suite, the Nile River and the Elephantine Island. Loved it!

This is a mythical place that you have to live up to. Well it's done! The place is first of all splendid, perfectly maintained as if it had been built recently. It doesn't smell like naphthalene at all;) Although the population is not the youngest. We stayed in a room of the old building (totally renovated) and we were not disappointed! A huge rectangular bathtub, well-dosed air conditioning, perfect bedding. The service is impeccable, of a level superior to all the hotels we have made. The pool overlooks the Nile and there is even a small Harbor to take a tour of Felouk. The kitchen is good and the breakfast at the height of the Palace. We'll be back!

I spent in the hotel The most amazing 3 days in my life every thing in this hotel is very luxury and heritage building, reception, rooms, elevator Walls and ceiling. Nile view is more than fantastic. Calming and relaxation is in everywhere in palace I recommend old Cataract palace for anyone searching about relaxation as in paradise.

Very snobbish place, even on a request for a lunch reservation, they happily shunned us off from even before the security point. Indecently arrogant and cold enough to cherish the redundant pride. The second star in the rating is only for the amazing spirit of Egypt, to which this property is certainly a disgrace!

Hotel is beautiful with stunning views and gorgeous interior designs and history. Management and staff is a failure. Stayed at this place during the summer and security staff thought I was carrying weapons or a bomb in my twin stroller. They were searching the stroller while my babies were sleeping in it. The last night my daughter fell and blood was gushing all over I called the front desk to have some help and after 15 minutes they sent me a first aid kit with everything in it expired about a year ago! They wouldn't help me call emergency help to rush my daughter to the hospital! What a disappointment.

We have travelled all over the world staying in five-star accommodations, and this was one of our favourite to date! Pure elegance and class in every room and the service was spectacular. You feel safe and right at home here. Welcome — 5/5 We were greeted at the front gates, and our bags were taken, and we walked in through to the main building for a refreshing hibiscus drink and lovely welcome. We were shown around the hotel and then were taken to our suite! Bed — 6/5 (Yes it was that good) Huge bed, high ceilings, luxury sheets and comfortable mattress. You will love this! Cleanliness — 5/5 Every inch of this place is spotless. There was even a young man in the hall throughout the day cleaning and dusting everything in the hallways ALL day! Amenities — 5/5 Restaurants, lounge, spa, and heated pool! The food here is delicious; the pool is fantastic. Never had the chance to use the spa but heard great things! Bang for your buck — 5/5 This place is EXPENSIVE, BUT, you will not be disappointed Breakfast — 5/5 HUGE breakfast buffet and an omelet station with everything that you could possibly want for breakfast! It was included in our room, so I am not sure how expensive it is, but it would be well worth it at any price. Noise level — 4/5 I heard a couple things in the hallway from our room as we slept, but nothing to be worried about, well muted Wifi — 4/5 Spotty in places throughout the hotel English Language — 5/5 Great English speaking staff.

The best hotel in Egypt. I stayed there in April 2015. The design, interiors, history, staff. All gives you a different charming experience. Amazing location with an amazing view of the Nile river. I leave you with the photos which is more descriptive than words!

We wanted to go for a drink at the old cataract bar and dine, impossible to pass security.!
We went all over the world in palaces, never have I seen such a welcome! Carlton, rice, Negresco, oberoï…
It is not enough to live on 1 legend, it must also assume!
Too bad the reception is so detobtable.

A great hotel with a lot of character. A shame they have built the new building (new cataract) which to me seems a bit ugly and cover view of the Nile. I would recommend staying if or if in the old part of the hotel (old cataract) which is where all the heads of State were alojarón in the last century as well as Agatha Christie as is said.

Fabulous place, wonderful staff for whom nothing is to much trouble and with the most stunning scenery from you balcony. Sunshine all the time what more could anyone wish for.

Absolute highlight of my Egypt tour was my stay at the Sofitel OLD CATARACT in Aswan. Wonderful hotel in the Kolonalstil perfektest has been renovated and is charm, probably hard to beat style and flair. The privileged location on the Nile River with views of the Nile the island جزيرة and in the background the mausoleum of Aga Kahn can one go to the heart. In the luxuriously appointed rooms and suites the guests can feel truly Royal. Manager Mr. Rafic Khairallah contribute the entire staff of the General up to the page with your kindness obliging that no wish remains open.
I was in the April 2016 at the hotel and will as soon as possible come back to this wonderful hotel to enjoy.
