The mud house is everything I hoped for! Clean, comfortable and so much fun! The owners are amazing and go out of their way to make sure you’re having a good experience. Highly recommend staying here!
I wandered into the Mud House expecting to stay for one night, but found it very hard to leave even 2 weeks later. It's a beautiful property, littered with flowers and fruit trees, with both private rooms and mixed dorms all with mosquito nets included, which are quite necessary. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm, but because of the pandemic, only had one roommate that I got along with quite well. Just out the back of the dorm was a small deck with a bamboo mat that overlooked a mangrove that would rise and fall with the ocean tide. I wasted plenty of hot afternoons in that shaded sanctuary, meditating, doing yoga, or watching the iguanas explore the treetops for a comfortable spot to take a nap. Mompiche has plenty of food options, but if you don’t want to leave the hostel, you can make food in the kitchen or get some cheap pizza and beer from the restaurant on property. It’s run by a wonderful Argentinian couple who I really enjoyed getting to know over the course of many evenings at the hostel, along with the multitude of locals and travelers that frequent the restaurant. Mompiche is a great little town, especially if you like to surf, and I would recommend The Mud House to anyone planning a trip here.

We really enjoyed our stay in The Mudhouse. The cabins are surrounded by plants and flowers which create a beautiful peaceful atmosphere. There are several places outside to hang out, relax, practice yoga and meet other guests. Everything is clean and beautifully made with mostly natural materials. Most of all, Mendee and Andres, the managers, are superfriendly and always ready to chat or help.
