This has been an epic and unique experience that we will never forget! The views from our gorgeous Yaku suite are mesmerizing. The contemporary decor is stunning and spotless. All the experiences from the skybike and dragonfly to the hikes and hummingbird lookout are amazing. The views of the extensive canopy are magnificent. Our wonderful and delightful guide Jackie greatly enhanced our experience — we learned so much from her and she also knew when to let us experience the magical sounds of the rainforest in silence. The entire service team from the friendly front desk staff to the dining team are also excellent and special thanks to our dinner server Edison. The food is fresh and delicious. We had some of the best massages ever with Paulina and Tanya. The private surprise birthday champagne celebration left us speechless! And the Lodge is doing so much to preserve this incredible rain forest — we felt privileged to be here. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! Angela and Cherie.

Every detail thought of and every desire accommodated! The daily activities were unforgettable. Gabriel our guide was made sure everything was perfect! The lodge, room and restaurant are stunning!
The 3 hour trek from Quito was fine. Note the last 45 minutes were very bumpy but worth every minute to be delivered to this amazing experience in the cloud forest.
Don’t walk…run to book your stay. Stay 3 night to get the most of your stay.

We had the opportunity to stay at Mashpi Lodge as a pre Galapagos cruise add on and it was worth every cent. We had seen Mashpi Lodge on a travel show and had wanted to come ever since.
We experienced a communications issue on the day we travelled to Mashpi from Quito — which caused a bit of consternation albeit adding to the adventure of travelling to a rainforest, a number of landslides had occurred — but that was resolved to our satisfaction by management on arrival — thank you Alex.
Despite not getting to Mashpi until mid afternoon they kept the restaurant open for a late lunch for us, then we had our orientation and out for our first activity — observation tower and skybike. The weather was untypical and we had great views from the tower. The skybike is such a clever idea and very enjoyable.
That evening we went out for a night walk to see what wildlife we could encounter — scorpions, spiders and frogs were spotted.
On the first full day in the morning we went to see the hummingbirds, plus other species and a tayra showed up too. On the way back we went for a vigorous massage under a waterfall — great experience. In the afternoon we went to the life centre and did some more wildlife spotting before being taken through the life cycle of a butterfly and seeing each stage in reality.

Outstanding room & service. Will do it over & over again. Room 212, perfect view of El Panecillo. This room cannot be topped in my consideration. Ample bathroom with hot tub. Excellent spacious shower. Beautiful sink & toilet. Outstanding cleanliness.

The lodge itself is striking, in a beautiful setting surrounded by the forest. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the food was excellent. The passion for the forest was evident in the naturalist guides and our guide taught us so much about the forest and the various creatures who live there. The trip from Quito was rather long but it was worth the drive. Melissa Altamirano of Metropolitan touring answered all our many questions and helped us set up the transfers, etc.

I am absolutely conflicted about our stay at Mashpi. On one hand, the location, hotel, amenities and staff were top-notch. Everyone at the lodge was kind and accommodating, the food and drinks were great, and the space itself is one-of-a-kind.
But the real reason we went was to enjoy the cloud forest, with all its wildlife, in a genuine, unadulterated way. In the end, we felt that many of the wildlife-centric activities felt orchestrated.
The Life Center was a great place to view birds, but only because the guides had placed a lot of fruit for them to come and eat. The Hummingbird Garden had an overwhelming abundance of hummingbirds, but seemingly only because the guides came bearing gallons of sugar water. We were immediately swarmed once we pulled up. To me, feeding wild birds for the benefit of humans crosses a line. I would much rather happen upon the birds in the wild, even if that means only seeing a few. By contrast, when we went on the night walk, a serious highlight, we found eight frogs, a scorpion, and a kinkajou: just by the guide's searching and skills.
I understand the bind the property is in: bring tourists way out on a very bumpy road with the prospect of seeing an abundance of wildlife. But luring birds and other creatures out with food feels misaligned with the sustainable experience they're promoting.

Mashpi lodge is in a beautiful setting in the cloud forest. Tons of birds to see! The staff and guides were great. The hike to the waterfalls was lovely. Night hikes were terrific and we saw tarantulas, scorpions, frogs and crickets. The food is extraordinary. This is just a magnificent place to stay!

Where to begin with this incredible place? Yes, the journey is long and the roads are bumpy but to arrive in this place and to see the incredible beauty of the Choco forest will take your breath away. The entire ethos of the hotel, the benefit to the local community, the training and opportunities they give local people, and the way 80% of your money goes directly to conservation and research work is completely inspiring. Our experience was outstanding from beginning to end… the staff are all wonderful. Special mentions to Diego, Edison and Pamela but the true wonder of this place is getting out into the forest. Our guide Estuardo was simply awesome… the ability to spot everything and his depth of knowledge of the forest ecosystem was exceptional. The activities were tailored to our abilities and we were looked after and given time and space to look, learn, take photos and get our breath back on some of the steep bits of the trails!
The sky bikes are awesome, the observation tower (all 18 storeys! ) is well worth it. The hummingbird garden was also wonderful, and to see these beautiful little jewels up so close was magical.
It's hard to express just what a special place Mashpi is. If you get a chance, grab it. It's a natural paradise.

The way to get there is a trauma! They do their best to help you forget what you had been through but if I had known, I would not have been there. It is not worth the price of getting sick in the car and the way is so long.
Apart from that and thanks got they do their best and food service is exellent.
The walks are ok but nothing you could not see in Europe. Caraibe. I saw more in Colombia, in some islands …
The guides are fine, but not all of them.
But as I said the room/ food/ amability are exeptional. The manager very nice but still for me it is not worth it the super long and complicated road …

As a I was very impressed with the all-inclusive ecotourism program offered and the delicious “Michelin-level healthy fine dining choices and excellent overall quality! I will definitely send my travel clients to Ecuador and specifically, Mashpi Resort, go to those adventure outdoorsy clienteles! I spent 3 nights and 4 days at Mashpi and must say I was quite impressed. I did 3 night hikes, the sky bike and gondola and a longer hike. My time there was spent with one guide, Estuardo who did an amazing job of teaching me so much about this wonderful forest. I saw glass frogs, toucans, many different bird species and a weasel and rodent a little smaller than a capebara. I saw amazing snakes and even found a crab in the stream. What made this lodge extra special was the attention to detail. The waitstaff knew me after one day and would fix my coffee and already knew my order. Estuardo was such a pleasant conversationalist and we spent a lot of time talking about our cultures and nature. Nestor was always checking in on me to make sure it met my expectations and Sharon, Diane and Mateo at the front desk were always eager to help and schedule my extras. I recommend Mashpi without reservation. I haven’t had such an amazing experience since my waking safari. Go! you won’t be disappointed unless you’re simply impossible to please.

The most incredible place I’ve ever visited. Such a beautiful garden of Eden tucked away in the clouds. This is truly a magical experience. The staff are top class, very friendly, knowledgeable and effortlessly helpful. The guides are amazing, such deep knowledge you can’t help but get hooked on this place. It has left an indelible mark on my soul forever, and I will be back, many times to once again walk the trails, swim in the waterfalls and fly through the treetops in the dragonfly gondola. The food is outstanding, I’ve never tasted such delights. The passion of the staff is what drives this place and you can tell there is a deep and real love for Mashpi and the surrounding area. And what can I say about the Hummingbird garden… Wow! Difficult to find the words. Just come here and see the wonders and the beauty for yourself. Highly, highly recommended. I just love it. Thank you Mashpi for making my dream come true. 🤙❤️
