Oro Verde Loja

This was a real gem! Their horchata dispenser right next to the front desk was a hug to my inner child! Food was great! Their locro (Andean potato soup) with bacon was amazing. Accommodations so nice and fancy. Breakfast was good. Centrally located. Very safe.

Rating of 4 is due to the food. Hotel offers breakfast buffet which is minimal and leftovers from previous day at the restaurant. Other than that rooms are very good and location is excellent.

There’s one hospitality truth in ecuador: with oro verde hotels you’ll never go wrong. I stayed for one night and every single detail was carefully prepared and taken care of. I dined and had breakfast and must say both were great! The best is their Horchata dispenser by the front desk. Such a great treat!

Staff was pleasant and helpful. The building / rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was tasty beyond expectations. Why not a 5/5? Refrigerator did not work and no access to ice makes even a cold drink of water impossible. Provided instant coffee and microwave. But again no creamer or way to store milk. Bathroom shower leaks onto floor with door closed. Bidet was not working. It did leak onto the floor from the wall though. I would not stay here again or recommend it. I had a $20 hotel room in Bankok that had better functionality. It has potential — but not quite there yet. Also room safe would not work even after several staff attempted reset.

I've lived in Loja for the past two years and tried many hotels. This one is by far the best, so I stay frequently myself and recommend for visitors here too. High quality everything: great restaurant, some of the best salmon I've eaten in Ecuador, huge breakfast selection, super friendly professional staff with English speaking reception, nice clean rooms with good complimentary soaps, hot water, solid Wi-Fi, beautiful building interior, etc. Free parking in the garage I believe. Also the price is super reasonable compared to other nice hotels in different cities here. The only thing missing is a gym / pool / amenities or perhaps if you're looking for a view and need a lot of ventilation… try to request a room on the top 6th floor! Otherwise many of the lower rooms only have interior windows. That said, the interior is a big open space and I've never had an issue with stuffiness in any of their rooms… as I have in lower quality hotels elsewhere. I even prefer the more cave-like ambiance sometimes because there is better noise insulation for a peaceful night's sleep. Even though it's right in the middle of the city, the building is quiet. Overall, you won't regret choosing this hotel. (For example see my review of the Grand Victoria… staying at Oro Verde Royal Romar has been so much better! )

Our two rooms were not ready after check-in time. The reason management told us was a huge group just checked out and staff were cleaning the wrong rooms first. (Disgusting and ignorant management of guests reservations and direction of hotel staff) We were told it would be a thirty minute wait while the rooms were cleaned, it was a full forty-five minutes or more. The room had a very small window on fourth floor, hot water took ten minutes to come on, not all lights worked and a barking dog in neighborhooding room (405) echoed in the halls, with no correction from staff. I've stayed at several Oro Verde's over thirty years, I would caution anyone from staying at this run down version of the Oro Verde hotels. Oh I forgot to mention the lobby floor was dusty at edges and the white seats were peeling as if this hotel was a third rate hotel or worst. I'll avoid all Oro Verde hotels in the future, because today there many better quality choices.

The best experience for events, without a doubt an excellent recommendation, very professional! delicious menu.

The best option to stay in Loja, an small beautiful city. You don’t need to rent a car to visit the historic area. Affordable price. Excellent service and delicious food. It’s a 5 stars hotel. Recommended.

The hotel is very nice, clean and within walking distance to so many things to do and see. The room was large and comfortable, however, there was no individual room temperature controls and the room was too warm. When I talked to the front desk they couldn’t adjust the temperature but did provide a large fan. The safe in the room didn’t work. The food in the restaurant was very good.
