Surfbreak B&B Resort Village

It is rare for a place to live up to all the reviews but Surfbreak does not disappoint. It is safe, friendly, beautiful and minutes from an amazing surf beach. The staff are remarkable and make you feel right at home. Highlights at Surfbreak include sharing a drink or meal poolside with the other guests, yoga during a tropical storm and of course the resident dogs. Our whole trip to Cabarete was amazing but I don't think it would have been the same if we had not stayed here. Miss it and would go back tomorrow if we could.

I had an amazing time at Surfbreak. It wasn't just a place to stay… it was an experience! Everyone is very friendly and helpful, it feels like being at home with friends. Thank you to the staff at Surfbreak for making our time in the DR a great one… Hope to be back one day!

First of all obviously Julliana, the manager of the hostel, who arranges everything for her guest from pick ups to grocery runs to the supermarket or booking tours. And with all that she is the friendliest and kindest person ever so you really don’t hesitate to get her advice. But all members of staff are super friendly and helpful and it creates a really relaxed and homely atmosphere. The place itself is very green with lots of outside space to hang out around the pool or in one of the many hammocks. The place is located a 5 minute walk from Encuentro beach which is great for surfing and is in between Sosua and Cabarete. So you have the perfect mix between a quiet and unique spot far off from big all inclusive resorts but get really quickly in the cities for going out or shopping. Thank you so much for making our holidays so special at Surfbreak Cabarete we will definitely come back again!

We enjoyed our 10 days at Surf Break very much. Away from Cabarete, the quiet and idyllic complex invites you to linger and rest.
The whole staff was just great! Very friendly and above all very helpful. No matter what you needed/wanted to do, they immediately took care of every request and always offered the best service.
We lacked nothing. A great place for young and old to make new friends!

If looking for a place to relax you just hit the jackpot. The place itself is like a zen garden, calm, quiet and neat. You wake up with birds chirping and at night you can hear the sea whispering. The yoga studio is fantastic, they even have some hammocks around the place so you can enjoy the tranquility outside your room. The personnel is very kind and respectful, Julius (the owner) makes you feel at home the moment you get there, he and Claudio (his assistant) are really caring and friendly people, they’ll give you a tour around and some tips on which places to go or not to if you are traveling alone or with others. El encuentro beach is a 5 minutes walk, perfect to take some surf classes (Julius would help you with that). The town center is 5 or 7km away, there are taxis or mototaxis if you need to go out and get some food (only breakfast is included in price). They have a kitchen so you can make your own meals where by the way you get the chance to get to know the other guests, in my case met really cool people. I will definitely be back as soon as I have a break. PS: there are two lovely dogs and a cat around.

If you like Nature, take a break from the A/C and other gadgets and come enjoy this piece of paradise.

The placed is privately manged and operated by the owner Julius and he runs a tight ship. They also give a tour of the town Cabarete with suggestions for food and orientation f you are a surfer looking for a nice cool down to earth clean place to stay near the surfbreaks (not fancy) of Encuentro beach this is definitely the spot. They also give a tour of the town Cabarete with suggestions for food and how to get around (super market, local transportation etc) The only thing you should keep in mind is that it is close to the surf beaches and NOT to Cabarete (which is a 10-minute local taxi\bus\pool away)

I would highly recommend staying at Surfbreak Cabarete. It's perfect when you are travelling alone, as a couple, with friends and with family. The room was spacious, clean and there were fans, airconditioning (we didn't use this as the fans were sufficient), water and a fridge. The garden is beautiful and it has 2 nice pools. Location was ideal for us as it was a 10 min walk to Encuentro beach where we surfed. The centre of Cabarete is also not far away by car. Julius was a great host, clear communication in advance and during our stay we got loads of tips where to go and what to do. Also enjoyed hanging around with the other guests (and the dogs and cats) and Julius even organized a BBQ night. If we visit Cabarete again, we would definitely stay at Surfbreak again!

Julius provides a fantastic experience for those seeking solace in the beautiful Dominican Republic. His lodging stands head and shoulders above the rest thanks to well-maintained and picturesque grounds, rooms cleaned daily, an unbelievable yoga studio space, quiet and respectful guests, personal customer service that goes above and beyond, a full kitchen, swimming pools (cleaned daily), yummy food, great value, and excellent beach access. Stay at Surfbreak Cabarete and you'll understand why it's one of the best places to get away in the D. R.

Surfbreak is everything you want for a vacation. People are really nice, Julius (the owner) and Juliana are really kind and caring people. The room was excellent and comfortable. The pool and the garden are always clean. The beach is close, and really great to practice surf. You have to make your own food, but is great to meet new people in the comunal area. I recommend this place if you want to take a peaceful and relaxing vacation with friends, family or significant other.

Surbreak is breathtaking. Everything is. The gardens, flowers everywhere, beautiful facilities, nice pools and people, especially the people. Amazing human beings with kindness, devotion, caring and truthfulness. This is not an hotel, this is a guesthouse with the very meaning of what guesthouses should be. I felt embrace at the very first moment I got there. Always someone to help me with whatever I needed, without being monopolize. Feeling to be part of something, a family, with respect and sharing. Julius (the owner) is so present, incredibly generous, friendly and open minded. What great chats and time I spent with him. He is pursuing his mom's dreams with elegance and respect. I feel very lucky that I met this man. Juliana (the manager) is an efficient bomb. Always smiling and giving. She is a master servant for her guests. She has a huge heart. So much fun we had together. So much to remember. So much I should not say: we cooked together and she cooked for me. But shuuuut, this is not her duty! ;-) So much to look forward… I prefer now calling those two: friends. :-) Special mention for Tanya (Julius's girlfriend) who's been so welcoming, generous with a big heart too. Will always remember the surprises she offered me. Yoga session, snacks and amazing sauce for my food. I've been spoiled. And inspired. And what about the people that are visiting. Karma is surprising… I guess good people attracts beautiful humans beings. Feel blessed that I found this spot.

Great location with lots to do in the area. Great staff, very clean and well maintained overall. Julias was helpful, he knows everything and his suggestions made my vacation far more enjoyable.

My friend and I were two weeks at the surf break, and it was gorgeous.
The lodge we had was cheap and very nice.
One is immersed in nature and has the beach to surf right outside the door.
We were fully satisfied in all respects and would go again!
Julius, the owner was wonderful, he had great tips on storage and you could ask him at any time. Very friendly! But the whole atmosphere in the system was perfect.

I am currently staying at the surf break lodge and I am enjoying myself tremendously. Veronica, the owner, is a very nice lady that keeps the garden looking pristine and pleasant. If you are looking for a nice, affordable, clean place near excellent surfing at encuentro beach, this is the place for you.
