We loved our stay at Tamarind, a family establishment overlooking the ocean on this beautiful nature island. We were there the week before Christmas and the decor had a festive feel! The location was great for going north or south on the island and very close to beautiful Mero Beach. The owners are lovely people, the food is yummy and the sunsets spectacular. Our room had everything we needed and the porch was a great place to unwind.
Stefan and Annette are wonderful, friendly hosts with a great sense of humour and care for their guests well-being. They are attentive and ensure all levels of comfort are met, going the extra-mile. Their team are also professional, friendly and organised. The room and hotel were extremely clean! The chef’s food was divine! The views from the balcony spectacular! Highly recommend.

The views were phenomenal and incredibly relaxing, and the hotel itself is beautiful to look at. I would like to give a special shout-out to the kitchen staff, Janelle, and the cleaning attendant, Leena, who both went above and beyond to make our stay as welcoming as possible. Through them, the true Dominican nature was evident — their kindness, willingness, caring attitude, and helpfulness. They are a real asset to the team.
This is not my first time in Dominica. I am Dominican by blood and usually stay with family, but this was my first experience staying in a hotel on the island. Unfortunately, it was disappointing and did not do Dominica justice. Without my personal links and connections on the island, my stay would have been even more difficult.
I would have liked to use the pool, but it appeared poorly maintained, with mosquitoes and dead insects in the water. It did not look clean enough to use.
Overall, I was disappointed with my stay. The lack of Dominican culture and cuisine, the limited accessibility for elderly and disabled guests, and the overall experience did not reflect the warmth and authenticity of Dominica itself. The owners appeared welcoming, but it felt more transactional than genuine.
The views and the staff — particularly Janelle and Leena — were the highlights of my stay, and that speaks volumes about the beauty of Dominica and its people.
Sadly, I do not feel that I received value for money and would be unlikely to stay there again.
