Refborg Hotel & Spiseri Refborg Hotel

We visited for a trip to Lego House — Refborg hotel was conveniently located and served our needs for the weekend.
The room was spacious with a separate bedroom, lounge area and bathroom, and there were a good range of facilities on each floor with microwaves, TVs and seating areas with kids toys and games etc for relaxing if you were part of a bigger group.
The breakfast buffet was good, with a range of options including cereals, continental options with breads, meats and cheeses, fruit and yoghurt, as well as hot options each morning. Our one complaint as classic Brits was the lack of English Breakfast Tea as an option… but it just encouraged us to be a bit more adventurous with our tea selections!

Nice but basic rooms; window blinds could be better and the windows given that it’s close to a road. Hotel was clean and fairly modern, with a handy supermarket next door. Nice continental breakfast offering but selection would get boring after a couple of days. Staff were generally helpful. About 20 min walk from Legoland.

The friendliest people. Very helpful answering our questions & making transportation arrangements for us. Our rooms were ready when we arrived many hours before standard check-in. They gave us ground-floor rooms, so I wouldnt have to climb stairs. Comfortable bed with fluffy pillows. Free buffet breakfast. Free cookies at the reception desk. Nice hot water in the shower. Grocery store next door. Only one block walk to Lego House, bakery, restaurants, & cafés.

Great location just a short walk from the Lego House and the centre of Billund. Free shuttle bus on the half hour to wow park and Lego Land. Lovely breakfast. Rooms were comfortable. Air conditioning needed in summer which didn't have. Staff friendly and helpful.

Stayed in a spacious family room with one bedroom and living room with sleeping coach.
As we had booked the same day, they had not had time to make the couch/bed yet, but the receptionist came with sheets and towels and was helpful.
Only 5 minutes to drive from the hotel to Legoland. Legohouse is only few hundred metres away.
The food in the restaurant is very well rated, although we did not have time to test the food. Nice soap and shampoo in the bathroom and nice and scandinavian inspired wooden furniture in the room/bathroom in general. A nice place to stay, although a bit expensive (3000 NOK per night). Compared to the hotels inside/at Legoland it was cheap…. Free parking outside the hotel. No elevator.

From my profile name you can see we generally stay in 4 Star hotels with the occasion 3 or 5 star ones. With that said, it has been a very long time since we have looked back after a stay and remember one feeling as warm, inviting and as authentic as our 2 nights at the Refborg Hotel in Billund.
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Lego House. It’s about 1 block away and we could even see it from our second story room. We had considered other hotels in the area but I prefer to stay central to areas that we visit. The room we stayed in was minimalistic and didn’t even have a phone or refrigerator (there’s a communal fridge in a common room). There’s also no elevator so we had to lug 5 suitcases up the stairs. One other thing we didn’t realize was that there’s no AC in our room (which may be a deal breaker for some especially during a hot summer – not sure if other rooms have AC). We opened the windows and we didn’t feel “hot” in the first week of July when we were there. Breakfast was included with our stay and it was just as good as any of the offerings we have had at 4 star hotels. Not as much variety and it was the same options for both days but certainly enjoyable.
Any concerns melted away quickly when we experienced the kindness and warmth from the staff. They’re eager to help and make you feel so welcome.

We only went to the restaurant.
The food was good and the service wonderful.
Our waiter was kind and quick.
The salmon was delicious with its white wine sauce. The steak was also delicious and the vegetables on both dishes were amazing.
The atmosphere was really nice, quiet and calm.

Fantastic hotel, location, atmosphere is so authentic for me. Just some issues with WIFi and no elevator, just FYI. But for sure back when in Billund. Thank you.

We have been here twice and this is very good choice to stay when you travel to Billund. Location is very good, and atmosphere is cosy. Hotel is clean and breakfast is tasty. Some rooms are bigger than others, so you are not always sure how big room you will get.

A must-stay place when you arrive in Billund. The rooms are super tidy and clean. Bunk bed rooms are good for families. There is a supermarket opposite the hotel. Just don’t miss this place.

A classic Danish hotel.
Friendly, helpful and English speaking staff.
Great location, beside a supermarket, a reasonable “Italian” on the way to Lego House. It’s in the centre of town.
Comfortable but basic bedroom and good restaurant.
Breakfast was a highlight, sufficient to eat so that lunch was always just a snack.
Legoland, was a gentle 20 minute stroll on the flat and easy to navigate.

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The entire room was dirty and old. Even the curtains couldn’t be closed on the ground floor, everybody could look inside. The towels were dirty. I strongly advise people not to stay in this garbage. You cannot call this a hotel. The owners should be put in jail dor asking people money for this garbage.

Friendly helpful staff. The room is spacious for family of 4. Food is delicious location is great.

Do not go by the photos on some websites. Very misleading. You don't get what you think you are paying your money for in both quality and space. Trip hazards everywhere. Dangerous main stairs. We were told there was no lift either. Some of the staff were lovely but we also received one of the worst ever customer servises experiences of our lives following our very upsetting experience of staying there. Breakfast was lovely.
