Hotel Svanen, Stays & BW Signature Collection

We booked a suite.
Good — big bed, choice of pillows, jacuzzi, quiet, spacey room in good condition, ample parking, close to Billund airport, close to Legoland.
Bad — safe not working, no air con and electric fan broken, cleaning not standard and needs to be requested, no water in the room, kettle but no tea or coffee with it, single sink, no obvious ventilation in bathroom. Plus of special note, the breakfast was awful — solid scrambled eggs, nearly raw boiled eggs, plastic cheese, no fruit or salad, no fish. The worst hotel breakfast we’ve had in years.

Hotel Svanen delivers exactly what many business travelers actually need: easy access, uncomplicated logistics, friendly staff and rooms large enough to not feel like you’re sleeping inside an airline carry-on.
Check-in was mostly smooth, although the Ring doorbell system apparently decided to unionize the moment I arrived. Fortunately the support number is posted directly beside the entrance and the night staff solved the issue quickly and professionally.
The room itself was spacious, clean and refreshingly functional. Massive Philips TV, decent workspace, simple Scandinavian styling and enough room to unpack without performing tactical luggage Tetris on the floor. Bathroom was straightforward and clean as well.
The mattress in Room 61 was extremely soft though. Depending on your preferences, this is either “comfort” or “an orthopedic experiment. ” Walls are also a bit thin. At one point I became involuntarily familiar with another guest’s snoring schedule several doors away.
Breakfast was good and entirely sufficient for a work trip. Not a luxury brunch cathedral with dry ice and chia seeds arranged by architects, but proper food, good coffee and efficient service.
Smokers are reasonably accommodated with several outdoor smoking areas, which is increasingly rare in Europe. In proper Danish weather conditions however, these areas become less “smoking lounge” and more “North Sea survival simulation. ”
Biggest plus overall: the staff.

Staff is quite kind and accommodating. Rooms themselves are showing a bit of their age and looking a bit "old-school, " but the bed was very comfy and the sheets were puffy. The breakfast is quite varied with many good options, food were all tasty.
All in all, a heartfelt recommended stay in Billund, Denmark.
