Brix Hostel

We stayed here for two nights. The first night was uneventful; the issue occurred on the second night.
I woke up at 2:30am with numerous bites on my feet and legs and significant swelling consistent with bed bugs. I used my phone flashlight and discovered the bugs in the photos attached. While I understand that bed bugs can unfortunately be introduced by guests and are not always directly the hostel’s fault, how a property responds to a situation like this is what counts.
What was most disappointing was the lack of follow-up or support from staff afterward. When we reported the issue, we were asked to send our photos by email, which we did. After that, we received no response, no explanation, no reassurance, no compensation for a night of no sleep, and no indication that the situation was being taken seriously. We were left completely on our own to deal with the aftermath.
We spent the remainder of our trip stressed about contamination, washing and isolating all of our belongings, and not knowing whether the room or beds would be inspected or treated. Even a brief acknowledgment or clear communication would have made a big difference.
I’m not writing this to assign blame for the presence of bed bugs, but to highlight the lack of communication and care once the issue was raised. Beyond that, we see that other reviewers have mentioned bedbugs a year ago or more, which makes us wonder if that infestation was ever resolved.
In shared accommodation, problems can happen.

I just visited Tuesday karaoke here. It was a quiet night. Sang a few songs and went home. I liked the experience and KJ was hepful. To be improved: 1. Karaoke should be free. 👼 Brix is on a remote location and more agressive promotion and content (karooke competitiotion, happy hours, student parties) could help attract more crowd. ✨️ 3. It would be nice if we could sing karaoke on tracks from YouTube.

On the positive side, the hostel was very clean throughout, and the staff at reception were friendly, helpful, and provided clear information whenever I needed assistance.
The location is well-connected to the city centre getting around Prague was quick and easy. Getting to the airport via public transport was also a bit inconvenient due to the hostel’s location, though once in the city, everything else was easily accessible.
I stayed at Brix Hostel recently, and while the overall setup was fine, the storage compartments under the beds were a big problem. I had the top bunk, and the storage was located under the bottom bunk, which is understandable but the drawers themselves were extremely rough and difficult to pull out. I had to use so much force that I actually strained my back trying to open them.
It’s also very noisy and inconvenient, especially when others in the room are sleeping. Every time I needed something from my drawer, it made a loud scraping sound, and I felt terrible disturbing everyone. On top of that, the drawer wouldn’t even move if someone was lying on the lower bed, the weight made it impossible to open.
Overall, I wasn’t happy with this experience. The hostel really needs to fix or replace the under-bed storage system. It’s uncomfortable, impractical, and not what you’d expect when paying for a hostel stay.

I would not stay here again. This hostel seems to attract really dodgy people. There was a condom in the shower stall for 4 days, and black mould in the bathroom as well. The toilet also ran out of toilet paper for a good 24 hours and was replaced with hand towel. The rooms were not cleaned properly, very very dusty and there was no air ventilation so in summer it is impossible to sleep. As well as the mattresses were flat and uncomfortable. The staff are nice-ish, the place smells very strongly of weed 24/7 inside. The area doesn’t feel safe for a female. One of the toilets has no seat. The power sockets on my bed didn’t work and would overheat my charger and was buzzing the whole time. The kitchen was okay. I mean there are worse places to stay but I didn’t feel comfortable here.

Dangerous don’t recommend.

Under new Management and I must say they kick ass they are awesome I love all the things they are featuring now great place.

This is a great hostel to meet new people and locals. Nice and cozy rooms and the hostel is located in a very nice local district of Prague. I've met many people that became my friends for life. Love it here.

Best hostel in prague, and probably one of the best hostels in all europe, lovely staff, good music, lot of positive vibes.
