Review of Infinity Blu 4*

Gemmstoned

8/10
Overall good but a few niggles. We stayed here 7 nights in May. We chose this hotel as it was adults only with reviews of exceptional food. The hotel is small, clean and the staff are friendly. However I feel like It lacked a few extras I'd expect for the 4* rating and price point compared to other TUI options. The room was a good size and bathroom clean with a decent walk in shower which were positives. The food experience was generally good and drinks hit and miss. We upgraded to a suite with sea view. I understand the tiers are studio (basic), suite (mid), deluxe suite (top) although how these were portrayed on TUI booking was confusing and added to my slight disappointments, the things I thought were lacking are.
— tea and coffee facilities in room, instant coffee and a kettle, I like good coffee and a coffee machine or coffee bags would have been better. We asked for coffee to have in room and were given this in a plastic cup.
— balcony with sea view, the sea was in view but the balcony tiny, room for only 2 chairs and small table, we did have a view of the sea but also mostly of the derelict hotel and rotting pool next door which I understand is not their fault but wasn't what I was expecting after paying extra for an upgrade. If a better description of the options was available I probably wouldn't have bothered with the "upgrade" or gone for the deluxe suite as these seem to have much better reviews but it really wasn't clear what the differences were.
— general facilities, for price and star rating there are no facilities at this hotel such as a spa or gym and not even a luggage room, you can only leave your cases and bag next to reception.
Food was hit and miss. Guy in the beach hut made a wonderful mojito but asked for same at dinner and it was undrinkable. There were no drinks menus or lists other than cocktail menu. A soft drink menu or mocktails, coffee options would be good. I was hoping for some inspiration and would be good to know if they offered mocktails, frappes etc and what the choices were rather than having to ask lots of questions to get something. The food was good but not mind blowing and other reviews had probably given me higher hopes. As a vegetarian I did always have lots to eat and I think better than most hotels but some aspects that would have improved would be another form of bread at breakfast other than just sliced white /brown, i'd have liked the option of a bagels or muffins. The food labelling was good with every dish named and allergens, very good however, there was pizza several days but only once was it vegetarian, and on one occasion the label was marked vegetarian but the description was "vegetable with Salami" which was worrying.
Sometimes the deserts were a little disappointing, cheesecake with a soggy biscuit base and tiramisu on Italian night which was nothing like a tiramisu.
There were no day time savoury or bar snacks, or ice creams of any sort. Which have always been an option at other all inclusives I have stayed at.
Overall I am glad we stayed there and the pros were.
— good location for Penera beach.
— good quiet location if you want to be away from main Protaras area but walkable.
— restaurants, bars, water sports, mini market, shops, buggy rental all within 5/10 min walk.
— food labelled up well (mostly)
— nice pool although small was a nice temperature.
— not overcrowded, many sunbeds.
— good shower.
— comfortable bed and plenty of in room storage + dressing table, great hairdryer.
— in room large fridge, iron and ironing board.
— restaurant staff very friendly and attentive.
— very clean and modern all round.
For information for others there was some entertainment in the evenings such as music, dancing which was nice. There were not many couples under 40 here so if you're looking for a more lively place this is more relaxed / quiet atmosphere. The age range was mostly 50+.
I don't want to be negative, I think this hotel is a good choice but just not the wow factor I was expecting after spending more than usual hoping for that extra luxury, so hoping that pointing these out is constructive criticism rather than a complaint and is helpful to others.
