Villa Tropico is a beautiful, quiet resort 1/2 way between Havana and Veradero. A beautiful reef guards the amazing white sand 2km long beach. All the staff are super courteous and helpful. The food is good at the dining hall for the scheduled meal times with a large selection on the buffet. The drinks are plentiful and served by fun characters at both the pool and lobby bars. We will definitely be back!

A beautiful hotel and the kindest people I have ever encountered in my travels. The beach was a dream. The rooms are clean. The food was good. A lot of entertainment at night! Talented professional dancers giving wonderful performances. I love everything about our time there. Sweet memories 🏝️💕

🌴✨ We came to Cuba with low expectations—just to tick it off the list. BUT wow… Starfish Jibacoa completely surprised us! Expectations not only met, but exceeded!
🙌 🏨 Hotel: Not luxury, but comfy enough for a stress-free vacation.
🍽️ Food: Plenty of options every day—breakfast, lunch, dinner. Some dishes are even amazing! And surprise… their bread is softer than grocery bread back home 😋. If you’re picky, bring your own spreads (peanut butter or jam) but honestly, they take care of guests so well.
🛏️ Room: Simple bungalows, a bit outdated but cozy. We had a power issue one night, but staff moved us quickly to a better room and fixed the issue electricity very fast.
📶 Internet: Wi-Fi is working its included on the stay, its unstable but works perfectly in lobby and restaurant area. It doesnt work inside the room.
🎉 Activities: Paddle boats, volleyball, snorkeling, bingo, dance lessons, evening shows… and the mini club was a hit with our daughter!
🤝 Service: Excellent—staff are attentive, kind, and genuinely try to make your stay special.
🥥 Bonus: Fresh coconuts until 3pm daily… my zen is full! 🙈✨
⭐ Overall: Not luxury, but great value if you manage expectations. So happy we chose Starfish Jibacoa to spend our holidays—memories we’ll never forget! 🎄💖

This resort is indeed a gem. Totally laid back and perfect to enjoy a quiet vacation in a lush environment. Much better than several if not most of the 4* I’ve stayed in Cuba and elsewhere in the Caribbeans. Yes, you don’t have the same facilities of the Memories besides, but the landscaping is the best I’ve seen. The staff is also amazing. I had 2 issues, which were settled within 20 min after contacting the front desk. The food is also repetitive, but always very satisfying. Shout out to the great pastry chef! The beach is very nice and cleaned regularly to remove garbage from Santa Cruz and Portuguese jellyfishes coming sometime in afternoon. I really don’t understand the negative reviews from clients who paid a very reasonable price expecting a Club Med service…

I had a wonderful stay again at Hotel Starfish Jibacoa! The location is absolutely breathtaking—nestled between the mountains and the ocean, it offers a truly relaxing atmosphere. The beach is pristine, with crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling. The staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help, making me feel right at home. The food was delicious, with a good variety of local and international dishes. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the gardens were beautifully maintained. I especially loved the daily entertainment and the peaceful vibe of the resort. It’s the perfect spot for couples or solo, anyone looking to unwind in a natural paradise. I would definitely return again … as I did!

I have been here many times over the years to dive, drawn back by the simplicity of this resort and the great staff, especially the diving and the dive staff.
On my last visit the resort had just reopened after some renovations, so I was excited to see the changes. These turned out to just be superficially cosmetic.
The dining area had improved in their set up and food selection. However, there was no toaster and no machine for hot water for tea.! Really, apparently they were broken!
The room as always was clean and comfortable. I appreciated that I did not have to put a deposit down for a beach towel. The beaches are kept well groomed.
The pool area had huge loungers but no where to sit at a table outside and enjoy a drink.
The availability of various drinks in both bars was improved — for example, bee and wine. Thank goodness for the environment, no more plastic straws. However, and sadly, the variety of drinks was greatly diminished partly due to a lack of working blenders. Please buy industrial equipment!
I am hesitant to return this year, not knowing if any of the above problems have been addressed. I tried several times to contact the Director and the owners with no success.

Our stay at the Starfish Jibacoa hotel was simply wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff was exceptional; always friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. The room was spacious and had a stunning ocean view, making every sunrise an unforgettable experience. The hotel facilities are impeccable, with several restaurant options offering a delicious variety of meals. We would love to try the local cuisine and enjoy a romantic dinner by the beach. The recreational activities were also a huge plus. We had an incredible time snorkeling and exploring the beautiful marine life. Plus, the beach is simply heavenly, perfect for relaxing in the sun or taking a sunset stroll. In short, Starfish Jibacoa exceeded our expectations. It was a perfect getaway for couples, filled with special moments and unforgettable memories. We will definitely return!

I had the time of life at this amazing place. The beach was clean, lots of snorkeling, Katamaran, a day trip to Havana.
Bungalow was clean and cozy.
Staff are amazing, kind, attentive, super friendly.
Food was good, plenty of variety. Good selection of alcohol and cocktails.
I’m definitely going back.

Absolutely terrible! No running water for the entire week, we only had two hours a day cold water running, lobby was smelling like pee you could not stay inside. I asked them to grab water from somewhere and clean it, of course they didn’t! Also asked them to bring me a bucket of water to the room so I can use my toilet, no one brought me any water, all they can say to me was that “Is Cuba” maybe tomorrow will fix it. I seen seniors grabbing water from the pool on their garbage bucket so they can flush their toilet in their rooms (grouse) only good things where landscaping and the beach, couple employees. Definitely don’t recommend it spend couple hundred dollars more and go somewhere else!

Nice place to enjoy the natural beauty of Cuba. There are a lot of beatiful activities for example shows at night and hiking. The food is good and the attention is excelent. The views to the beach is relaxing. We spend amazing days in this hotel.

I would like to compliment the services received at Starfish Jibacoa, CUBA, in particular, Hotel Rep Janet and Mirena SunWing Rep. Outstanding service received and always extremely helpful. Good simple clean room, always cleaned everyday, great housekeeping staff, good food, great barbeque, excellent beach, a few great exceptional weather days, a must is to bring Surf Socks, i. E. Shoes for the ocean as the reef & rocks into the ocean are very close, wonderful place to snorkel or scuba dive. Kind & friendly Cuban people, beautiful island nation. Thank you to the Cubans for letting visit & vacation in your country. Hope to return next year, but this will be with WestJet. Stay was 21 days enjoyed every minute.

We had a great time enjoying the beach, the pool, live music, dancing. This resort has gorgeous views of both the ocean and hillside. The Staff here are all amazing and work hard to help you relax and enjoy your stay. Tours can be booked privately and you will have a much more personal experience than on a large bus with many people.

Going to the Starfish Hotel Villa Tropico in Jibacoa is like going HOME! I am heading there in 10 days for my third visit! The rooms are spacious and clean with the most excellent housekeeping service! I never went to the dining room once and didn't find something scrumptious to eat! Great service! The rest of the staff is like family! The entertainment is awesome! And I met so many guests who return often and I am in touch with many of them. It's a quaint quiet resort with a beautiful beach! Counting the 10 days to go back home!

I have been to this resort many times and I love the smaller size of the resort and the opportunity to meet and reconnect with people. The service provided at the resort is excellent, from the reception, to the buffet, housekeeping, groundskeepers, bar staff, entertainment staff and security. The staff and lovely and work hard to meet your needs. If you're looking for some R&R in a beautiful location, this is where you want to be. There are restaurants close by, many outdoor activities and easy access to a day trip to Havana or any other beautiful locations close by. Enjoy!

The only reason this resort is receiving a single star is for the staff.
How they can list this resort as a viable option for a safe, comfortable, enjoyable stay without being able to provide ESSENTIALS like running water, clean linens, and coffee with meals that are at the bare minimum tolerable is beyond me. I am currently trapped at this resort wishing I had saved every single one of my wasted pennies, warning you not to do the same.
I am aware that I am in a poor country, but if you can’t provide RUNNING WATER, shut down.

It was ok for 2 nights. Room was clean and the staff were very friendly. Food was good by Cuban standards. Just bring your own coffee because they don’t have any. Also the beach was under a jelly fish warning so it was impossible to swim but that is no fault of the hotel.

The staff is absolutely incredible! Beautiful place to get away! The water is clear and fresh! Rum punch is delicious! Will come back for a chilled out vacation and a break from everyday! Weather was sunny, wind kept it cool! Loved they have a gym so I could keep my routine every other day!

We had a wonderful 2 week vacation at Starfish Jibacoa and are definetly planning on going back. We never lacked for anything, but we are not expecting a high end resort either. I only had one observation and that was pertaining to the temperature of the food, and by the next meal it was addressed. We didn't have eggs for the last 2 day, but instead were served really good bacon and cheese, and we had the bread toasted on the grill. The staff are always so loving and caring. We were there last spring as well, and everyone remembered us and welcomed us back. The garden-like setting is so relaxing, as well as the beach walks. The rooms are very clean. There was never any lack of food. The bar is not as well stocked as a 5 *, but there is enough. This is Cuba, and there are a lot of shortages, but the resort is well looked after. The managers are always asking if everything is ok, and if we need anything. We have been to Cuba a lot, and we know what to expect.

We were glad we went and chose Starfish Jibacoa. Nothing fancy but we had a great week there. Everything exceeded my expectations. Food was delicious and plentiful (like lobster every dinner). My husband even went to thank the entire kitchen staff for their resourcefulness and excellent cooking skills.
When we couldn't snorkel much due to the weather and the dangerous Portuguese Men of War, the entertainment team came to rescue. We went to the dance class every day and danced at night with the performing bands. We also hiked up to the lookout at the mountain behind the resort. Thanks to Jonas, Richard, and Jorge! It's a small resort in a large ground. We easily got 18, 000 steps in when not doing much. It also felt like a community talking to friendly staff and fellow Canadian guests.
The only drawback is Wi-Fi, only available in the lobby and pool and still spotty sometimes.
Essentials to bring:
Mosqquitoe repellent and bug zapper.
Small bills like CDN $5 bills and USD.
Items to give to locals (rechargeable items are most useful but all is welcome)
End of November and December was quite cool. 21C day high for two days. I wished I brought a thicker shirt.
