Hotel E Louvre

Gorgeous period hotel with affordable rates and great service.

The room in the hotel was very large and clean. The breakfast was also okay. However, the staff sometimes didn't know which snacks and drinks were available and which weren't. It was a bit noisy at times due to the karaoke bar downstairs and the courtyard.

Too bad the three-storey hotel has no elevator. Wi-Fi only in the lobby, not in the rooms. A great loss. Moreover, you have to log in countless times and still you cannot get a connection. Stayed for 14 days and had the same breakfast for 14 days. Two pieces of toast, omelet, slice of cheese, slice of ham. You get tired of that. Same for dinner: three choices: fish, chicken or pork. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are spacious, with air conditioning and TV.

The Hotel E Louvre is adjacent the main plaza in Matanzas. It is well appointed. I was there to grab dinner and just relax. Service was prompt and even though the menu was limited, the meal hit the spot.

We made allowances for our rooms being less than ideally clean, the toilet perpetually running until I fixed it myself. We treated the staff with kindness and were generous in our tips and yet, on the last day of our stay, we were accused of stealing one of the dirty bath towels and charged $10. Shameful.

Beautiful building, many stairs, no lift.
The bedroom was comfortable, although because of gaps everywhere you could hear everything in the corridors.
The dining room was quaint, nice friendly staff. The evening meal wasn't good, we were happy with the snack of fish at lunchtime though.
Breakfast of omelette, toast and fruit with juice was very good.

They are finally ready to go! Best place to watch the arrival of the thousand birds in the parc around 5:45PM and it goes on till about 6:30. This is a unique phenomenon in Matanzas. We had wonderful snack food and drinks from the bar every night. They even made us a super yummy garlic aioli to go with our plantain fries. Management and staff are friendly and caring. They will do absolutely anything for you. Rooms are grandiose, 15feet ceilings, new antique like furniture that matches the historical nature of this hotel and the view on the parc is heavenly. When you open those 12 foot doors you feel like a queen looking down at her kingdom (if you are on the second floor). Not the typical Cuban hotel. This is the best of the best. This place is a real 5 star quality. Bathrooms are super modern. You will be impressed. Best hotel I have seen in Cuba yet!
