Beautifully clean. Cheap rates for the ten bed dorm. This is the cleanest place I stayed in Costa Rica. Plus fast Wi-Fi and delicious pancakes for a free breakfast. They'll give you directions and this place is close to everything.

The facilities are simple but sufficient to spend the night comfortably, away from the center but very close to a bank and an important road where you can take bus or taxi. Very friendly staff that gives you advice on what to do or how to go to your next destination.

Had a nice stay here. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in a double room not a dorm but it was nice. Only two bathrooms on the main floor which could get crowded sometimes. Kitchen is good and stocked fairly well. Location is outside main San Jose but there's a bus to get you downtown.

Very good hotel but you will find dust in the rooms, bad if you are allergic to dust.

I've been through San José on multiple occasions, staying at different hostels every time and this was far and away the best experience I've had. The manager Juan was hilarious, personable, and above all helpful and informative. He made us delicious banana pancakes for breakfast and showed us all the important things in the surrounding area. The hostel itself is conveniently located to bars and restaurants and adjacent to a cute park. The rooms were large and open and nice, the bathroom was spotless and spacious, common areas abounded, and a quaint outdoor area complete with hammocks and lights. The kitchen appeared well-equipped though we did not use it during our stay. As stated above, best hostel out of the 6 or 7 I've stayed in. Amazing experience.

Really nice hostel. It is located in a safe area close to cheap food and a shopping mall and only 15min walk to the city center area. The kitchen is one of the nicest I have ever seen in a hostel, the netflix and common areas are also great. Staff were very helpful. Loved my stay here,

A fantastic hostel in the heart of San José. Area is safe. Staff was georges. She explained everything we needed pretty good and straight to the point. Hostel is very good equiped, in absolutely good shape and has quite a lot details what you need during a worldtrip as a backpacker. Information about tours, buses etc. Are all available. Everything is very clean and spaciuos. Simply great.

Beautiful and clean hostel in a safe area. The staff was really friendly. There is a room it a big TV and a pool table. There is also a beautiful garden with a bbq. 20 minutes walking from the centre.

I stayed in the San Pedro hostel (there is a sister hostel nearby) and it is, without a doubt, the friendliest hostel I have stayed in. What this hostel has that all the others don't is that the people truly make it a home away from home. Its not a party hostel but its a great place to meet lovely chatty people. The staff are really helpful and never too busy for a chat. As an added bonus its in a lovely safe location near great bars and restaurants with supermarkets nearby. Highly recommended.

This was the perfect place to stay while we were in Costa Rica. San Jose was the central location for all of our travels and Hostel Urbano was located on the other side of a square where all the buses stopped. The hostel was secure and there are lockers under each bed. You do need to bring your own lock. There generally is always someone there to watch who is coming and going from the hostel, the door is locked and you are let in by being buzzed in. If you happen to be out late and you know about it in advance you can ask for a key. The kitchen is full and working, you have to share with the other guests but that is something that you have to contend with wherever you travel. The staff is wonderful and funny. Talk with them!

Amazing hostel!
We stayed for 4 days in San José and had a great time at Hostel Urbano Yoses! Everything is perfectly clean, rooms pretty (we stayed in 3 different rooms and they were all perfect) breakfast tasty and facilities great with a lot of space to just hang out, a netflix TV, an amazing kitchen, a pool table and most of all, the friendliest staff we ever met in a hostel! Because we had such a good time, we even came back at the end of our trip for another night and we felt at home the second we walked through the door!

If you're looking for a great place to relax and sleep comfortably whilst exploring the busy and fun city San José… look no further! Hostel Urbano is a hostel located on a quiet block, just a few streets away from the center of San José. There is an AutoMercado less than 100m from the hostel. The hostel it self is very modern, clean and comfortable. This is by far the best kitchen I've seen during my backpacking through Costa-Rica. You name the kitchen appliance and they hav…e it! The kitchen is also spotlessly clean. I loved it! In the morning they serve complimentary breakfast which exists if delicious pancakes, fresh fruit and proper Costa-rican coffee. They just have a lot of extra’s really and that makes your stay perfect. There are free computers to use, a tv-room and even a pooltable. Reception organised a taxi for me. They also printed out a city map for me, marking a lot of Ropa Americana stores (second hand clothes) which resulted in a great shopping and sightseeing day. I scored 2 fabulous dresses as a reminder of this lively city! The garden of Hostel Urbano is what makes the place magical. Hammocks and a magnificent view over the valley in San José. When you sit in one of their lounge chairs outside, enjoying a nice cold beer, it is hard to remember you're in Costa-Rica’s most hectic city. This hostel is really a gem, you will be lucky to stay here! The rooms are just as clean as the rest of the hostel and you get complimentary towels.

Stop in to take a look at this place and you will see why it gets a 5 star rating! beautiful views, very nice rooms for a good price, and once you meet Jane you will fall in love with this hostel!
