Awesome Hostel! Easy to find, well located in the center, very cool property. The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. The food there is great too. Highly recommend to anybody who is staying in San Jose. This is the second time staying here!

It was a great option to stayed at La Aldea Hostel, Nice beds and wonderful colonial house.

Basic hostel, fairly close to the city centre. Dorms have private bathrooms, though they are a little dated. The attached restaurant is quite expensive. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lockers available in the rooms (byo lock)

Great place to eat and talk.

I have stayed here before. It's location near Tica Bus and close to the city Center are hard to beat.

The hostel is in a decent location. Fifteen minute walk to city center. Restaurant/bar attached, nice outdoor seating/smoking area (not part of restaurant). Staff was friendly. The room was a decent size. The room leaves much to be desired. It smelled musty the moment we walked in. One of the handles in the shower pulled completely off and had to just be stuck back on. The main room light is barely better than being off. You can hear all the city traffic very clearly from the room. The doorway into the room is very small (and I am not a large person). Not a terrible stay, but I wouldn't recommend for more than one night or so.

OK hostel, about 20 minutes out of the main centre which is walkable during the day. There is a decent outdoor area with a kitchen. There is a pool table in the common area and a restaurant attached to the hostel, which does average food. The major negative here is the staff, while trying to be helpful aren't very well trained and don't know what they are doing often. E. G. They lost our dorm key when we went out for dinner and we had to wait a half hour to get into our room when we got home.

Good price, clean hostel, and friendly staff. Be aware of the very early quiet hours and that there are no safe lockets unless you bring a padlock.

The receptionist wouldn't honor a $2 off coupon that he personally gave us less than a week prior. We left to get food and when we came back we had to ring the doorbell for ten straight mins because the only person working (the receptionist) was behind the building smoking weed. We were also required to make a $5 deposit that the same receptionist lost and it wasn't until I lost my cool that he "found" it. Avoid this place.

Good place to stay one night before leaving tp another place. The room was ok but bathroom was old and not cleaned. Staff is ok. Location is good. You can take a public bus from the airport and get out near Pizza Hut.

A nice, cheap hostel in San José

Stayed for one night at Aldea Hostel in a private room. The house looks really nice, I liked the interiour design and the wooden floors. Sadly the bathroom was quite old and the shower fossiled. But the main problem was the guy at the reception: My boyfriend and I needed to catch a early bus to La Fortuna but we were not sure about the bus schedule so we kindly asked the young man at the reception. He gave us the wrong information, that the bus would leave at 9:00 am, when we arrived at the bus station they told us that the bus already had left at 8:40, minutes before we arrived and we had to wait for three hours for the next bus. If I pay 45$ for a Hostel room without breakfast I expect the staff to be able to look up the bus schedule!

Nice clean hostel in a neighbourhood that felt safe. Really good huge lockers, comfy bunk beds, decent well equipped and clean kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff.

We loved our stay in Aldea hostel, all of the staff go out of their way to ensure you have a lovely time. Very well informed and helped us plan all of our journeys! We have stayed 2 times already because of the great location! Beds are very comfortable and the hostel is very clean and well maintained. Lovely clean communal kitchen, and Netflix room!

I enjoyed my stay at Aldea in San Jose. The location was perfect, and they had a safe place to park my car. I really liked The Corner restaurant — the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious. Oh, and thanks for the free coffee, Aldea! I would stay there again.

I don't know if this counts but I wanted to have a bite while I was waiting for the theater next door to open so I went to it's restaurant and I was really disappointed. It took them 15 minutes to get me a tea since they didn't have coffee, and ironically it says it's a coffee house in the menu, so I just drank my tea and left because if it takes them 15 minutes to boil a cup of water I can only imagine how long it will take them to make me something to eat. So now I'm starving at theater thanks to the, I should have gone to the McDonald's on the other block… The service was good though.

I stayed here for 3 day. The place is clean and cheap around 15 USD. Staff are amazing specially Kavin. Cool guy very helpfull and friendly guy to talk and and get help from. Also very close to city centre 10 min walk.

Great hotel, only stayed one night but they were clean and organized. The people were really nice too. It's in a cool old mansion and the kitchen is outside.

What a great place to stop in for lots of good information for things to do in Costa Rica. Lucas and Andrea do a wonderful job of helping people to have a great vacation for pennies on the dollar. There is so many things to do from Zip Lines, Horse Back Riding, Ski Diving, Scuba Diving, Hiking, River Rafting, and Bungee Jumping, during the day why spend more on staying in a fancy hotel when you spend most of the day out enjoying yourself. If you are looking to save money on accommodations and more money on activities Aldea's is a good choice for you. Clean and in a central part of San Jose. The people are so friendly here you cannot go wrong!

Best place to stay in town, safe neighborhood. I have stayed there twice and will again.

Nice enjoyable place with kind people to help you out. Little noisy but what to do in almost the middle of the town. I will come back here.

Very good place to stay and live together with people from all over the world. Environment jobial and friendly, recommended for any backpacker.
