We LOVED our stay at the Funky Monkey. It was an extended stay as we happened to be there during the pandemic and decided to stay in Costa Rica much longer than our initial plans, and I can't think of one thing that would have made our stay better. The owners and staff are amazing, committed to making sure you are good and taken care of. Super attentive and available, always felt welcome. The pool is very tranquil, but large enough that you can swim a laps if you want to get some exercise in. The yoga platform is peaceful and you can hear the waves. Our room was the perfect size, and we had everything we needed to prepare our own food. We would watch the sunset every night from the balcony or walk down to the beach. We work remotely, and we were comfortable working from the room, pretty much all day during the week, but a short walk from a coffee shop when we wanted to switch things up. We stayed in the lower tree top, and it’s roughly 180 steps up, but we enjoyed the climb. We could hear the ocean 24/7, and enjoyed the wildlife that being in the jungle offers. The grocery store is a quick walk, so is the beach and amazing restaurants. It’s a great location as you are right in the center of everything.
