I love this place in the middle of Monteverde. Its super cozy and the owner is lovely and always trying to be there to help customers. I will always come back.

We didn‘t really like our stay at the Claro de Luna. Even though the location is nice and the staff is really helpful, the rooms are very old and need a makeover. In addition, there was a loud noise every time our neighbor was flushing the toilet or showering. The beds were not really comfortable (watch out tall people: I am 1, 85/6‘1“ and I couldn‘t fully extend because of the foot boundary of the bed) and after the night there were a lot of dead little insects all over our room. The breakfast (which was praised a lot by other reviewers) was very rudimental. Eggs, toast, fruit and on the second morning pancakes — that was it. Our stay was not bad but considering the good reviews and the price, we were disappointed. The Claro de Luna has seen its best days and really needs a renovation.

The hotel has beautiful grounds. Very lush with wild flowers and butterflies galore right in the cloud Forrest. My daughters room was comfortable, open and airy. My room, was a bit dark and gloomy. I had a weird vibe in the room. Can’t explain it. Hotel is in walking distance to town.

Beautiful quaint hotel tucked away in lush gardens conveniently located near town. Room was gorgeous, and the spa tub was MASSIVE (my 6'8" partner fit). The staff was incredibly accommodating, and didn't even mention when we returned our room key late from a tour after check out time.

Nice and quiet property located only five minutes walking distance from Santa Elena (the hub at the center of Monteverde). Free breakfast buffet everyday is a huge plus as well as how helpful the staff are here in recommending activities for us. They will go the extra mile and help plan your trip in Monteverde for you if needed, calling transportation and finding activities. A taxi to Monteverde cloud reserve is $12 total one way. Rooms are comfortable albeit quiet small, with a desk, one chair, a bed, but not much walking space remaining. No air conditioning or temperature control/fan either, and no closet. Office has safes for you to use but it won't be in the room. However, bathroom was spacious and hot water was very comfortable (takes about a minute to heat up). The property is beautiful with lots of plants and flowers!

The receptionist is very friendly and the breakfast girls cook very richly.

Nice hotel and breakfast but watch out for scorpions sneaking in under the door. Soda la Amistad nearby is good too.

Wonderful wooden house with big windows, nice rooms. English speaking, friendly and helpful employees. Nice breakfast with pancakes, fresh fruit and eggs (only local products). Only problem is that the walls are really thin so you may hear others in the house.

We was light and there was nothing to do, it was raining to wind out. We were not able to do canopy, or bridges, of the time no one has responsibility but if you are in Monteverde and there is no alternative; it can be boring. The breakfast was good, full and rich.

Affordable place. The breakfast was delicious and kept me full till lunch. The location is close to town but a little away so it feels like you are in the cloud forest but still close to everything. Wifi worked well. Able to download video and there was hot water. No AC but you don't need it in Monteverde. Great place!

Tranquil nature. No tv, no air, no competing for hot water, but take that time to look around and listen.

A quiet place, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are simple and very clean, like the rest of the hotel is surrounded by lots of greenery. The Wi-Fi and television are not the best, but not necessary.

The garden was like a mini forest, the staff was great, and even in high season and being near downtown, it was very quiet. This hotel seemed the best near downtown. The main downside was that the mattress was flat and thin.

I was at first hesitant about this place because it was so affordable. It was beautiful and in the heart of the city. We walked to the restaurants and grocery store multiple times a day. We were able to take the tour buses to the zip line tours. The morning breakfast was best we'd had in Costa Rica. They had a table set out just for our family and it felt more like a bed and breakfast in my opinion. There is a side garden and the hostess went out of her way to answer all of our questions. When we asked for a place to launder our family's clothes they have a huge bag and washed and dried AND folded them for us for $20. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Very basic accommodation. Different rooms types and sizes. We had no hot water during our stay. Stuff is helpful and kind.

Very nice quiet hotel special for the person who wants to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle nothing luxurious, more convenient and clean. Excellent attention from the owners, and needless to say, excellent breakfast. We were a group of 9 people and all we left enchanted. Recommended.

I loved it because we are a group of 20 riders and that in any hotel before, we had prepared express breakfast before 7:00am

Beautiful location on a hill overlooking town. The grounds are a welcome relief from the dusty streets — lush gardens with a path connecting the buildings housing the reception, rooms, and kitchen/cafeteria. Lots of flowers, lots of birds. Some rooms have a hot-tub style bath, some have a TV, some have a porch with rocking chairs, and some have a combination of these. None of the rooms for our group have AC, but if you open the windows at night and there's plenty of cool air coming off the mountains. Take a left down the street for easy access to town center and grocery store.
