We LOVED our time at Alma. It was our first time in CR, and a beautiful start to our trip. The staff was so friendly and helpful — willing to go out of their way to help us experience new things for us. (Fresh coconut & sloth spotting thanks to Roberto, boogie boards available on site) The open-air dining experience was a perfect setting and had a good variety of wonderful food. Freddy remembered us and treated us like family. The rooms were very spacious and everything was clean. I also enjoyed a massage at the spa. We loved our entire experience at Alma, and we’d highly recommend it!

Magical place, exquisite food, beautiful suites even with private pool, super helpful staff.

We have enjoyed sunset here along Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast many times. The food is excellent and the service is friendly. They have a large open air dining space right on the beach but it is extremely clean and beautifully landscaped.

Bad food, horrible plating, no hospitality and awful customer service. Do not waste your money, it is definitely not worth it. Almost forgot, staff prepared food without masks and the manager doesn’t wear mask either (and it is mandatory by law here in Costa Rica).

How have I lived in the Central Pacific for over 7 years and never been here? had lunch with friends today and it was amazing. Beautiful ocean views, friendly service, and an entire page of vegan choices. I was so happy, and I will be back many times.

The place is spectacular, special to get out of the routine spend some quiet time in a colorful place with beautiful gardens ah! And the beachfront restaurant is super relaxing and cute with a delicious meal!

Beautiful place, comfortable and spacious rooms. Great treatment of all the people who work on site and exquisite food. Oh, and best of all, they accept puppies and treat them very well.

My favorite place on the planet. Beautiful, colorful architecture. Each room is different (yet similar). Huge, quiet rooms offering as much privacy as you want even though they open out to the beach. Great lap pool, gigantic beach, amazing sunsets. Beautiful landscaping. Great staff who always remember me and are happy to see me.

This place is majestic. My family has stayed here 4 times and always enjoy our weekend getaways from San Jose. One of the nicest hotels in all of Costa Rica. The colorful decor and beachfront location are an unusual mix in CR. Finally there are no vendors on the beach and the water is a bit rough but still family-friendly. Love this place ❤️

Serene, spacious, and gorgeous. Of several stops in a Costa Rica tour, this one was easily a favorite. My kid loved the pool and playing on the beach, and my wife loved our bungalow — — and the food!

As always, the Alma did not disappoint! We feel like family here. Many of the staff have been here for years and are genuinely delighted to see return guests. They are attentive, personable, and always go above and beyond. Freddy, Kenneth, Bryan, Maria, Juan, Brayan, Dimas… everyone on the Restaurant team makes every meal a delight. Ericka in the spa has “magic” hands and a peaceful, sweet spirit. Our room was so beautiful… we even had our own private plunge pool and full access out our doors to the pristine beach! There are too many details to mention, but everywhere you look they’ve done something special. Hotel manager Fernando Alfaro has done an outstanding job of making Alma into an amazing getaway. Can’t wait for our next trip!

Efficient, quiet and very private. It has a great pool to swim laps. Nice garden area with great views and direct access to the beach.

It was 3/28/2016 when my died due to the rip tides in the water front of Alma Del Pacifico while we were staying at Alma Del Pacifico. I have waited for almost two years and the owner of this hotel has never said a word of condolence. I am not writing to damage the image of the hotel because the manager was a huge help during this tragic event. I didn’t speak Spanish and local police and medical personnels didn’t speak English. The worst moment of my life took place there. It is my belief that the owner of the hotel at least should have shown sadness and regret especially none of my family was informed about the danger of the undercurrent in the waters near the hotel and Costa Rica. There was no sign of danger either. Whoever is reading this comments and has not been aware of the danger of rip tides, please know it can take the lives away in a blink of an eye. My two boys were also swept by the waters but survived and can’t thank God enough for that. So much to say about this incident and had tortured me for all this time and patiently waiting to hear from the owner. I learned about this incident while I was in downtown Parita with my youngest boy for other errands. Life is short but very precious and no life should be taken away because one was not aware of the danger of the water. Just not fair. I know that now the danger of the rip tides is well known by many travelers and news media. That does not mean everyone in Costa Rica is aware of this and deserve to die for that.

Excelete! Proximity to Sanjose, quality of the food, friendliness of those who work, the incredible views to the beach, the hammocks and the macaws that adorn the palm trees. Beautiful!

We live in the area so we have been visiting the restaurant at Alma for many years and have always had amazing service but last night was exceptional. Our niece has multiple allergies and because of this she can rarely eat out at a restaurant. Our waiter, Freddy, and the rest of the staff at the Alma went above and beyond to accommodate all her allergies. We had an amazing family dinner and we can't thank you enough!

This is a magical place and there is no place like this in the world. My wife and I were married here and we have so many special memories here at this place. There is so much to do on this quiet little Beach. I recommend this hotel to anyone that comes to Costa Rica.

This a fabulous place! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was tropical and classy, they have a great beach, and one of the very best places to watch a November sunset!

All as perfect as it can be stated. Even the weather!

I stayed there for 4 days with my wife the rooms are very nice and the beach is very very nice however they could change their menu in the restaurant I don't believe it is changed since the hotel opened at would be a pleasant surprise… It is quite difficult to find however once you have found it it's not bad there are a couple of other hotels located along the same dirt road so you do have a choice of other places to have dinner or lunch if you prefer it's about midway between Heckle and quepos and there very good otherwise.

Amazing place! Super quiet and super helpful staff.

We stayed at Alma Del Pacifico for a week in January. The villas are very spacious and have great views of palm trees, beach and water. The staff here goes above and beyond for each of their guests (or at least for us). The hotel is quiet and the "vacationers" tends to be around retirement age. You will find yourself alone at their beautiful pools for hours on end or enjoying the beach with very little trace of other people. Places like Jaco, Manuel Antonio and Uvita are all within driving distance. Freddy & waitstaff take excellent care of you!

What a hidden gem! Love this place and the staff. The way they treat you is beyond exceptional. Highly recommend for a stay.

Formerly known as Xandari by the Pacific, this boutique hotel has excellent accommodations and services with great views of the Esterillos Este beach. Great to stay or great for lunch/dinner. I just can't get enough of it! Call in advance: the place is occasionally closed to the general public due to weddings and similar events.

The location, staff and restaurant are an all-in-one package. They offer a great product, but you need to be prepared to pay that. As in many businesses that establish themselves on pristine shorelines, they don't come cheap. Alma does a good job at the finer details. The rooms are clean and tidy, the restaurant serves great food and the staff are super friendly (like all Costa Ricans). But, be prepared to pay, it's not cheap, it depends on what it's worth to you. You can find a number of places on the shoreline, some better than others, prices will fluctuate. This place actually comes close to reasoning their costs.

A wonderful beach, great views, and no-one to disturb your vacation. The resort is still in good shape, although service is limited and the amenities are a bit run down.

This review is for the restaurant only. We did look around the resort a bit and it seems very nice, clean and friendly. Although I cannot go into details about the Resort itself, I highly recommend you try thier restaurant if you are staying anywhere near Esterillos Este. The atmosphere, staff and dining experience were all 5 stars, best part is, the bill was not! My wife and I were staying a few resorts down the beach and wanted a change in scenery for dinner one night so we walked right up to Alma's restaurant from the beach and made reservations. The staff made us feel very welcome even though we were not staying at their hotel and the dinner service later that evening was the same way. I would highly recommend the "Taste of Costa Rica" as a starter. I had the "Alma Steak" which was very good, nice cut for the price. My wife had the Traditional Casado (vegetarian) which she said was excellent. To summarize: Yes, they take credit card Yes, they take reservations even if you aren't a guest Yes, wear something nice (guys: long pants, not jeans, flip flops ok, no graphic tees, nice solid color v-neck or button up would do the trick… girls: you will already know what to wear) Yes, the prices are very reasonable.
