Lua Villas

Lua villas was such a pleasure! The staff treated us like family 🤍 we were so honored to stay for 3 weeks and make it our home base.

One of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed.
They really got the aesthetics on point! Love the natural art and cool earth tones. Outdoor yoga deck space surrounded by the sounds of birds and gorgeous flowers. We loved everything about Lua. Especially the location. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to everything you could possibly need. My favorite is the short walk through the jungle to the beach.
Highly recommend these amazing villas!

A terrible place. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the power went out. We spent more than 12 hours without electricity, and the hotel did not take responsibility for this. There was no air conditioning, we couldn't cook, and the food we had in the refrigerator spoiled. Additionally, the pool was dirty from the time we arrived and was never cleaned. The towels had bleach stains.
On top of that, there was no cell phone signal and, without internet, it was dangerous in case of an emergency since there was no way to communicate. We discussed all these issues with the management, but they refused to accept our complaints. This place is not recommended for staying.

Perfect stay in Playa Hermosa! This was our second visit to Lua Villas and we will definitely be back. The villas are well equipped, well located, comfortable, and only a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and supermarket. The staff is also wonderful. Highly recommended!

Absolutely stunning hotel! It’s very quiet and you avoid the crowds in Santa Teresa. The rooms are spacious and beautifully equipped. The green and splendid garden keeps every room very private and hidden, the pool and yoga area is perfect to relax. Playa Hermosa is less than 5 min to walk through a little jungle stretch, perfect for surfing and sunsets. A little shop for groceries is right around the corner, so with the integrated kitchen in the rooms cooking yourself is also possible. Best place in Costa Rica for us!

An absolutely incredible stay! Way preferred it to Santa Teresa itself. Don’t be fooled by the 3-star hotel. We had a 5 star experience. It’s so lovely and private with a lovely cool pool and yoga area. We enjoyed use of the little gym and also having access so easily to the beach barefoot with our surfboards daily was just great! We were in the studio room for 2 and the bed was huge — plenty of privacy on the terrace and lots of room to cook.
Only tiny downside was the cost of the local supermarket! We ended up using ATVs for the day and getting a big shop in from Santa Teresa. Highly recommend planning ahead for food if you don’t want to eat out constantly. The supermarket prices here were pretty much double!
But overall, staff were so helpful in getting us ATVs, surf boards and taxis. And the stay was very relaxing!

We loved this place. We had a 2 bedroom villa with a kitchen and patio with a table and ceiling fan. The buildings are all secluded from the paths with palms and other tall plants but ours had huge birds of paradise edging it so it was especially pretty. They ask that you turn off the A/C when not there and I was hesitant, thinking that it would take forever to cool down, but it cooled down immediately. Each bedroom has its own A/C unit and kept the entire place cool. The beds were great and the bathroom was beautiful with a fabulous shower. The one inconvenience was that you can't throw toilet paper into the toilet, but we encountered this at other places near the beach. The beach is a short walk and we saw Holler monkeys along the path and also right outside the gate to the hotel. Bring your own beach towels, though, because they don't want you to take the pool towels to the beach. The beach had fewer people than Santa Teresa but was not empty. The hotel gave great directions, with pictures to help with location, and information about the area. Lastly, the staff is all nice, but I can't say enough about how nice Sophia is. Truly a pleasure staying here.

We loved our stay here with 2 kids aged 9&5. The Playa Hermosa end of Santa Teresa is more beautiful, quieter and great for kids surfing/bodyboarding. These secluded villas are in a small group around a beautiful pool/yoga area, and so make a lovely retreat from the midday heat with great shade and the pool is the perfect temperature. The hosts were helpful and friendly, bringing us coconuts to drink in the hot weather!
It's a short and pretty 2 minute walk through the grove to the beach, where we enjoyed the most perfect sunsets. There's nice stuff "in town" but you can happily spend most of your time between the villas and beach, with great nearby pizza place and Couleur cafe for meals. We were in Villa Mar which had a well laid out space, but stunning upper main bedroom and bathroom. Just heaven here!

Lua is a little slice of paradise just outside the hip beach town of Santa Teresa. It’s easy accessible but serene and peaceful. Cleanliness is IMPECCABLE. Security is top notch. The cutest easy walk to beautiful playa hermosa. Great for kids or travelers. Would highly recommend. Each villa has its own router so the Wi-Fi works great too! The shower is super hot and semi open air. We loved the jungle feel but still enclosed space. The concierge women are so helpful, easily available with great communication, always happy to help with anything you may need on your stay. We will be back!

I'm sure they deleted this comment but I must say it was a disappointing experience, in the end we had to change the place of accommodation on the extra nights we decided to stay, if I could attach photographs of the information that Booking gave me in price and number of people would, because this would support what I will tell continue and not the convenient story of the owners to tell about more; I made a booking on Booking for 5 people in this awkward place, Booking I indicate the price of the villa (villa mar in Lua Villas) for a total of 300, 325 colones for three nights for 5 people! in the end obviously that was not the price that I ended up charging when I arrived at the villas, because the owner indicated that my reservation was for two people and I had to pay the difference, they asked that we pay them only in cash (so as not to pay taxes surely) apart is a disorder communication via email (write two different people and provide you with different price balance data)
The Villas are far from all activity like restaurants, bars and worse THE BEACH!

Such a cool spot. Great surf, hospitality and best accommodations in the area.

The architecture is of great visual value, very nice and private! Yes, it has negative aspects, parking is very small, you don't leave stay a long time on the site after the delivery! It is not the best, but very nice!

Very clean and good customer service.
