We are staying at the villas two bedroom suite at the villas sol hotel and beach resort on the RCI exchange program from Melia. On all inclusive program. The view is good, the room is good. In order to room to be cleaned you must hand the sign to clean the room. There is only one restaurant. Food is a little bit redundant. Fish is only served at lunch. We skipped lunch half of the times. Or ate it at the other bar / restaurant where only burgers are available. There are a lot of cats which come to you but you can’t feed them per signs. We feel bad and bought food for them. Fruits are served only at breakfast and lunch but not at dinner which is strange. Oat meal is available every other day. Drinks are good but we always leave tips 90% (unless we spent all cash that day). Deserts are a little short in sweats based on the us standards. I guess it is good. We need to loose weight. When you pack, take shampoo, conditioner, soap bars, sponge, tooth issue, tooth brush — all if it. They only provide one type of liquid soap which is for everything. Also you might want to pack coffee, tea, sugar, there is nothing there provided in the room. Sticks for the ears, cotton balls or shaving kit, shower cap — nothing. Overall there is enough food at the restaurant, just there is no fish for breakfast or dinner. Only one type of cheese. No olives, nuts, no capers, no dark bread most of the time, tomatoes were green one day. Coffee is good strong. Drinks were good. Personnel is nice.
I am a 3 time return visitor to Villa Sol and noticed a change in many things since I was last there. Thus, I am comparing with past experiences.
Perhaps for a first-time visitor, it would be great.
I was disappointed related to the past.
The quality of the food served was lack luster. There is no more "a la carte" dining (the private restaurant people could, at one time, book).
The views are lovely, but the shuttle service to the beach was slow, and the walk is steep to get to the beach.
We missed the bar area that was once separate from the restaurant because it allowed for meeting other guests more easily.
Other than that, it is a good place for a couple of nights.
I wouldn't recommend a full week.

We stayed in a villa through airbnb so I can not review the rooms and we were only there 2 days and did not go to the pools or see any other part of the resort except for the beach and lobby. However we did use the shuttle which was a rough start on the first day with a rude driver and no shuttles to be found when needed but the other experiences were great and one particular driver was very accommodating and was very nice. Also I will say that our room was supposed to be ready at 2pm for check in and was not ready until 4:30pm which I understand sometimes this happens but the previous guests checked out the day before so there is no excuse for our room to not be ready. And the customer service was not great either. The employees were not friendly or helpful and when you ask a question. They act like you were inconveniencing them. There are employees that are in the lobby that are selling toys or setting transportation. They were so rude and unhelpful. We did use uber to get to Playa Coco and it was easy and painless and way cheaper than the resorts transportation. The beach was quiet and calm however there are vendors selling their things and can get a little pushy. There are a couple of restaurants on the beach that are OK. Overall I would give the resort a 3 out 5.
