We rented a bungalow at the top this week. About €150 a night with breakfast.
The worst: Difficult access to climb to the top (Goat Road), breakfast weak. We had a little cold and no heating.
The best: In the hypothetical case that is clear and you have a glazed bungalow, no doubt the views on the bed. You also deserve to stroll through your hummingbird garden.

Very expensive for what the rooms are. It's nowhere near anywhere, difficult to access.

A secluded area surrounded by vegetation is not suitable for elderly people or andicapé

Dingy, dated, far from everything around — it takes 10 minutes just to get to the main road and another half hour to get anywhere else. Supposedly has a nice view of the volcano but I was there for four days didn’t see it once because of cloud cover and rain (AND this was during the dry season). Guy at the front desk is super friendly but said no Wi-Fi in the rooms, we checked anyway and there IS Wi-Fi in the rooms… Hotel arenal Lodge is very well advertised — probably the only reason they are still in business — but don't get tricked like I did; it is expensive for no reason, there are so many newer/nicer places in the area that aren't as well adverised that are similarly priced. Complimentary breakfast was fine no complaints, there are horses and cows that roam nearby and the countryside is beautiful — we stayed in one of the chalets which was nice and private, beds clean and comfortable, but all in all, not worth it at all. Avoid.

Outdated. Far away from pretty much everything. Long drive from the road to the hotel. We had a mouse in our hotel room and the hotel didn't seem to care. Only decent quality is the view if the weather is clear.

So glad we stayed here. Very relaxing vibe. Property is 30 years old, but well maintained for being in a rain forest area. Beautiful views of Arenal Volcano. Free Breakfast was good. Dinner portions were small, but price was fair. Food quality 3/5. Staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. They even catered to my wife’s food allergies. Gorgeous woodwork everywhere. Would definitely come back. Internet currently in lobby only (call and check). They said it would be fixed soon. I hope so, because we like our Netflix. That’s all that kept it from 5 stars. They offer trail rides for $30. About an hour long around the property. We enjoyed it despite the rain. The driveway is about a mile and quite steep, but that adds to the fun. But it might force you to think twice about going out more than once a day. Be sure to do the zip lines at Sky Adventures nearby (45 minutes drive). Note: Try to arrive an hour before dark if possible because the roads are quite twisty, and not lit, with steep drop-offs, and no guard-rails or adequate signage as to speed on curves. We came at night and wouldn’t do that again.

Excellent Place Despite the 2, 5kms to get there. Wonderful place. Nice and friendly staff.

Pros: Amazing staff: friendly and attentive. Incredible views of the volcano from the rooms and facilities. Food was decent 6.5/10. Nice infinity pool. Beautiful nature gardens surround the lodge. Cons: the hot tub struggles to get hot. Work out facilities are really lacking, if that's your thing. Outdated/rural. Many of the units do not have AC. Originally we had the chalet, but switched rooms because of the lack of AC. The lodge was a struggle to get to as its way up this massive, steep, winedy, slippery road/driveway. I feel that the free breakfast could use some switching up from day to day, as the same exact thing, although delicious, can get boring after a few days.

The location is amazing, the view is stunning, the staff is very friendly & helpful, the rooms are clean. The breakfast is pretty ok, unfortunately 4th night without internet in our room door to a technical problems. But besides that it's great!

It is definitely not what we were expecting. The rooms seem very old and the food is horrible. The only good thing about this hotel is the view. Very disappointed.

Beautiful location, wonderful staff. Some of my favorite things; the trails, the views, the butterfly garden, the volcano, the pool, the pineapple at breakfast, the staff, the amphitheatre, Coco Loco on the deck, the matrimonial suite, the coffee scrub, the frog that jumped on my head, the backgammon tables in the lobby. I can't say enough good things about the Arenal Lodge and I can't wait to go back again.

One of the best places I've ever stayed. The staff treated us like family and were always happy to help with any questions we had. The place itself is on the outskirts of La Fortuna and a little distance from the main road but the seclusion was worth it. The food was amazing for breakfast and dinner and the rooms are beautiful. I am coming back here again!

Feb 22, 2017 My husband and I were in love with this place. All the staff were very friendly and the place was very clean. We stayed in the chalets which woke up us up to the most beautiful sunrises. The food at the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was the same but great. It is a 10 min drive up to get there and is a quiet resort. We wanted a tranquil hotel. La fortuna is a short drive and everything is pretty close. They have $25 dollar horseback riding which we loved. We'll be back.

Awesome hotel! Stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed the accomodation, the amenities — had a really nice and relaxing massage, good food in the restaurant and enjoyed one of the day tours in the area (visiting the hanging bridges, the La Fortuna waterfall, the Arenal volcano and the hot springs).

Very nice place, with a fabulous view, very good service. 100% recommended.

The sheer beauty, peace & quite along with access to so many trips and tours makes this a perfect place to visit. Great food, drinks, pool, 2 Jacuzzis, sauna, etc. Everyone at the lodge was wonderful from the desk to the owner. They will arrange trips or tours for you at a good price. Ask that Michael be your guide. Very knowledgeable and great person. Ask him anything/Tip him well.

Beautiful! My husband and I stayed there late March. Incredible view of the volcano, great food, and I was loving that hot tub! The staff was charming. Only stayed one night, wish I could have stayed more. Pura Vida!

Terrible! Sobrevenden rooms, throw you the blame to others, then does not want to return the money paid by you for the room that you not occupied, grim.

Nice hotel with a great view of the volcano. It is on top of a mountain and you can only get to La Fortunata or the hot springs with a taxi or minivan. Makes you confined a bit to the hotel if you don't have a car. Also a bit pricy.

Good comfortable hotel with safe and the staff very helpful.

View from the lodge was great. Breakfast was disappointing compared to the price of the room. Swimming in the pool with the view and the garden was amazing.

Had a great stay, the hotel is perfectly blended with nature, friendly staff.

Definetly will recommend. Rooms are so so, chalet is very nice.
