This place is amazing! their staff is the most impressive part of my stay.

I loved visiting the hotel and I can say that it is one of the best experiences in food, service, rooms of a high level. The facilities are of a high standard and impeccable maintenance. The experience begins with your staff and is reflected in your services. The food is of a high standard and its added bonus is knowing that everything is grown by the hotel.

This is a Magical place that you can lay your burdens of the world down and breathe in the best oxygen. I am so thrilled to have meet some intelligent, brave, amazing, and loving human beings. The Retreat is a beautiful resort with the most breathtaking views. I just wish it wasn’t the rainy season so we could have enjoyed the views more. Sergio, Alejandro and the rest of the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating. Food choices were limited (only one main course) but everything we ate was fresh and delicious. Wish we were able to stay longer and take advantage of all the amenities there like the spa.

It is a shame that some people don’t learn from positive critics. I was called a liar and full of poop.
What kind of professional respond a critic like this.? Just address my observations. Answer the questions. Good luck with Cov 19 who has the money to pay grass dinner $50? I was there for an inspection, once you are there without a car you have no choices but to eat there and use their services, after 2 and half day my bill was $800 only for extras and I don't even drink wine. I travel all around the world and know many spas. The service is average and meals options are limited. I think is too much money for rooms with bugs. Sorry but not one of my favorites.

A peaceful and beautiful place for all things wellness. I recently spent 5 days on property at a yoga retreat and it was the perfect venue. I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated from the amazing clean organic food, the professionalism and attention of the staff and the serene beauty of the mountainside. I will be back soon.

This is an amazing hotel. It is highly recommended for anyone, no matter what your purpose is. Its name says it all The Retreat. From the staffs to the amenities, this place is perfect. The food, the hotel views, the purpose of your stay here will be fulfilled. The yoga/meditation room is perfect. The pool is from natural water. I do have to warm you about the ramp to thee hotel. It is very steep, make sure you have a good car because you may not be able to go out of the hotel. BUT the staffs are all prepared for anything. Even if you are scared to drive either up or down the ramp, they will drive you and your car without hesitation. IF by any chance your car can not make it out, they will tow your car and your stay will not be affected for this. This is just a heads up so you won't be surprised. This place is a must go in Costa Rica. They peace you will find is priceless.

Luxury travel is not the type I do. In many visits to Costa Rica, I have made friends who generously offer their homes, and I know how to find bargains. This trip, however, I added a short weekend at The Retreat. I was traveling alone, and liked the idea of silence, great healthy food, views and yoga. I did not want to share my time with hoards of tourists. A miscommunication with reservations made it impossible for me to take advantage of a three nights for the price of two relaxation package. I had other plans afterwards. So I approached the property with some mixed feelings. But when I decided to overlook that annoyance, I was rewarded. The view was beautiful, serene, uncluttered nature. The solid buildings were unobtrusive and did not distract from the surroundings. The pool and hot tub had vistas of the Pacific in the distance. My room was beautiful and naturally well-lit. The common areas were soothing and attractive. I liked the food. Two of the meals were amazing, one breakfast and one lunch. Those had amazing variety. The chefs took advantage of the abundance of fresh fruit in Costa Rica. The guests were pleasant and willing to share. At the end we were all eating at the same table. The staff was excellent. The chef not only gave cooking classes, he was willing to discuss specific ingredients while he cooked in the open kitchen. Others helped me find transport to the south of CR. When I was leaving.

Is the most beautiful place ever! The attention you receive ia beyond compare and the food… Oh the foooood! Everything is so delicious and carefully prepared. I'm very proud of this gem in Atenas.

I have waited far too long to write a review of The Retreat! My husband and I were there in May and it was a LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE! 10 days of the most delectable, beautifully prepared and presented raw food, the tranquility of our room and view of the mountains, the incredibly attentive staff and the … AH… of finally relaxing, yoga twice a day with the incomparable Tara. After we came home, I became certified in Antigravity Yoga and am now passionate about bringing this practice to others all over the world! Thank you, Diana, for creating this paradise that those of us in the real world long for and never quite realize is possible. I hope to visit again very soon and have spread the word to all my friends and family. And to the staff at The Retreat, our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for making our time there unforgettable. As an author, it provided me with a calm space to contemplate my next novel, to think of what to write after Saving Max and The Tulip Eaters, to fall yet again into that creative space that feeds me (and makes my husband's life easier! )

I stayed at The Retreat Costa Rica from April 7-14, 2018. I signed up for the Disconnect & Transform package, which included all meals, snacks, cooking classes, hikes, daily yoga, a massage/all natural facial and an excursion to the market with one of the hotel's chefs. Words cannot describe the amazing experience I had during my one week stay here… it was truly hard to leave! My daily schedules were always planned out for me (literally printed on paper and left by my bedside with a gluten free cookie each and every night) so I was always busy doing something… yet whatever I was doing I was always so relaxed. I should mention that I chose to follow the schedule and that there is no pressure or expectation to do exactly as it says. By day three I think the staff thought someone else had taken my place because I was so much calmer than when I had initially arrived. ALL of the staff members are professional and friendly and it seems that the guests that stay at this hotel are just as nice. I stayed in the "Coco" room which lives up to a five star classification with its closeness to the yoga studio (yes, I rolled out of bed and walked over to morning yoga each and every day), incredible views and spaciousness. The food at The Retreat is very clean and as far as I know, gluten and dairy and not often served, if at all. For me, it was as much a culinary adventure as it was a getaway, since every meal was so tasty and beautifully presented.

I spent my 30th Birthday at The Retreat, and I couldn’t have imagined a better choice. It was absolutely PERFECT. I opted for the airport transfer, though pricey I felt it was worth it as I was a solo traveler, and I was met at the airport by Raquel who was an amazing employee at The Retreat. The views of Costa Rica on the drive to the Retreat and at the resort itself were absolutely STUNNING! Pictures cannot even capture the beauty. The rooms were clean, and tidy with fresh decor. The meals… WOW. It’s not an exaggeration when I say these were probably the best meals I’ve had in my entire life. I’m not typically a gluten free dairy free person, so I was nervous and packed some snacks just in case, but I did not even need them. Every meal was superb. I still daydream about the soups served before dinner. Everything was so fresh! Massages were great, and yoga was a renewing experience The staff at The Retreat were absolutely amazing! They treated me like family and went out of their way to make my Birthday extra special! Book the Retreat! Trust me, You won’t regret it. Thank you The Retreat! Thank you so much!

The best and best of all, it is close and within the reach of all who seek peace, tranquility, emotional, and spiritual, everything, excellent service, special attention and a lot of times unbeatable. The best is here in Athens. If you come once, you'll want to return! Come and do the test! You'll love this paradise!

Small resort with large pool and hot tub! Beautiful grounds with hundreds of species or plants and birds. Spa with massages, steam room, yoga and gym! Spectacular views!

I have to say this place is heaven on earth! What a magnificent experience. The staff was amazing! They made us feel at home. I love the setup. It feels like a huge house and everyone is so attentive and sweet! I really did not want to leave! We stayed in the standard room (I think that was a queen sized bed). I loved this location because it was very near the "big house" where the kitchen, living area, boutique, and everything is. The room was small but super comfortable and modern. There were sliding doors they used as windows, which we left open every night to sleep with the sounds of the birds. OMG this review is bringing me back! … All I have to say is STAY HERE! You will enjoy the food VERY much! I love how genuine and creative the chefs are! There is NO MENU! Which makes the experience even more exciting! They simply ask if you have any allergies and let their imaginations run free! I do recommend traveling during the summer. The rainy season was not as bad but the sun does set around 4pm and it rains most days around the same time. We got caught during tropical storm Nate which was very scary… Other than this storm, we had an amazing time in Costa Rica. I am not the one to travel to the same country twice, since there's so much to see in this world, BUT this is an exception! I am definitely going back during the summer! I want to get the full experience of this gorgeous country! I HIGHLY recommend The Retreat! you will love it! P.

One of the best places in Costa Rica to disconect from the city life and restore your energy. The service is great and the healthy food options can truly make a diference in your life with one stay.

As a retreat leader, having led retreats in Thailand and Costa Rica over the past 7 years, this is by far my favorite retreat. We've been here twice in 5 months for 8 days each time. The service is as good as it gets. The exquisite design of the hotel, and the rooms are all orientated to the breathtaking views. Even the beds are heavenly! The staff is so sweet and attentive. I absolutely love the creative gourmet organic (mostly) raw food, and how the chefs infuse it with love and describe the ingredients at each meal. Also to note: steam room, yoga, massages, wellness classes, organic garden, sustainability, salt water pool, hot tub, amazing sunrises and sunsets.

This place and its people are magic. It's peaceful, the view is amazing and the food is beyond delicious.

Fabulous facility, staff, food, and views! A hidden jewel in the mountains above Atenas. Highly recommend this hotel, although a bit pricey for many, it's a perfect hideaway for a chosen few!

The grounds and the view are magnificent. The rooms and dining room are elegant and the food… well the food. Delicioso! I spent a week and it flew by, so much to do, and feel, and still plenty of time to relax. My best experience in Costa Rica.
