Magic Reef Bungalows

I love this side of the island. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The bungalows are incredible. I highly recommend the fruit breakfasts they’re great. My only complaint is very minor, they state they have snorkel gear to borrow but it’s all in various states of disrepair. But this isn’t a dive resort so it’s expected. We didn’t rent a car from them but the fleet of cars looked very nice (and new). The drinking water was excellent, I would 100% stay here again.

Everything was perfect… it's worth every penny.
The owners were very accommodating (small things like umbrellas, yoga matts, BBQ grill etc) and clearly loved what they did.
Excellent location with nice restaurants easy walking distance.
We ended by using the BBQ few nights which was great also.
We will for be back at the same place if/when returning.

We absolutely loved our stay at Magic Reef Beachfront Bungalows. It’s peaceful, beautifully maintained, and has that perfect mix of resort comfort and relaxed, self-catering independence.
Our one-bedroom bungalow was stunning — private, spacious, and filled with Pacific charm. The outdoor bath and shower were amazing, and the Shipwreck Pool was my favourite spot; I swam every day and often had it all to myself!
Lawrence and Simone, the hosts, are incredible — friendly, genuine, and always up for a chat or to share local tips. Their warmth and the lovely staff made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived.
We loved being slightly out of the busier areas but still close enough to everything we needed. The gardens, the beach, and the overall vibe are just magic.
A perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and soak up true island life. Highly recommend – we’ll definitely be back!

We had a fabulous stay at Magic Reef. Our Bungalow on the beach was perfect. The views were divine as were the sunsets. We saw Whales breeching from the beach. Simone & Lawrence looked after us and there were many special touches to make us feel at home. We highly recommend.

A beautiful beach side location (very few people there) Certainly felt peaceful and uninterrupted. Great room, a whole cabin with double 4 poster. Exterior shower… delightful. Lovely pool — only one child seen all week!
Great value for the location and small number of chalets — away from the crowds and the buffet madness. Clean, comfortable, lovely staff on site to lend a hand or offer advice. Shuttle service (a cost) will collect and drop you from the airport.
Fruit platter on arrival, juice, milk, cereal and ground coffee all available.
Set away from the road so no noisy trucks — just the lapping of the waves to send you to sleep. Certainly recommended and an onus is the Waterline restaurant walking distance 5 mins on the beach form the Bungalows. Great spot for cocktails and a sunset dinner. The 'On the Beach restaurant' also a firm winner, a little fuser up the beach.
Definitely the west coast is the way to go for this holiday experience. Whale season gave us an added treat! Plenty of passing mothers and calves.
Highly recommended! I'll book again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Magic Reef Bungalows! The place was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had such a relaxing vibe. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience – highly recommend Magic Reef to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay in paradise. 🌴✨

They were all warm and welcoming. Jason was kind and helped us with airport drop and pickup. He also gave us good suggestions as we were new to the town. Simon was really sweet and gave us muesli jar whenever we asked. Rooms were clean. The best part was the outdoor shower!

We stayed in one of the two-bedroomed bungalows, which was perfect for our family of four. It was decorated very tastefully, with the kitchen kitted out perfectly. Our highlights included the outdoor shower area, the lovely deck, and the manicured tropical gardens, all of which were a credit to the friendly and welcoming staff. With a beautiful little pathway to the beach, and close to many of the good eating places, Magic Reef is a perfect location. We would highly recommend Magic Reef Bungalows and we will definitely return again. Thank you, Simone, Jane and all the team.

Our week at Magic Reef was awesome! The villas are beautiful and modern. There was a lovely platter in the fridge for our first breakfast along with fresh orange juice, milk, and water. The outdoor bathroom is wonderful, the bed very comfortable, great Wi-Fi, TV with Netflix, comfy sofa, and the view from the deck lounges of all villas is spectacular. Simonne was so welcoming and helpful and we loved the availability of electric cars to hire which came in very handy on a couple of rainy days. We had access to a laundry, pool and great seating and lounges beach front. The grounds of the Magic Reef are immaculate. Loved Magic Reef!

The location is perfect, peaceful, and right by the ocean. The bungalow was clean, cozy, and beautifully set for a relaxing getaway.
Simone was truly amazing — kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Her warmth made all the difference and made us feel completely at home.
The entire staff was just as wonderful, their attention to detail and kindness made the whole experience unforgettable.

We booked Magic Reef Bungalows for Friends and Family for our May 2025 wedding.
This place is amazing. Great location, amazing bungalows. Simmone and the team are great hosts and we would highly recommend Magic Reef for your next place to stay while visiting Rarotonga!

From the minute our group of eight arrived at the Magic Reef, we knew we had booked the right place! Simone was very welcoming and showed us our rooms which exceeded our expectations. The villas are beautiful, clean, and modern. There was a lovely platter in the fridge for us, along with fresh orange juice, milk, and water. The outdoor bathroom is unique and very awesome, the bed is very comfortable, and the view from all villas is spectacular. The grounds of the Magic Reef are immaculate. You really do feel very special staying there. We will all be back very soon!

Our beach front bungalow was idyllic and the perfect location on Rarotonga. Just steps from the beach with a private outdoor shower and kitchen in a very quiet area. Simone, Jane and crew were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Great restaurants a short beach walk away and perfect Cook Island sunsets made for a very memorable experience.

We had a fantastic stay at Magic Reef Bungalows late Feb 2025. Lawrence, Simone and the rest of the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Simone went out of her way and offered us a lift while we were waiting for a bus. They were very accommodating with any questions or needs we had. The bungalows were very clean and regularly serviced. Would highly recommend Magic Reef Bungalows.

This was our third trip to Magic Reef, and each gets better. We stay in one of the ocean front bungalows, and it’s perfect for our stay. (all of the bungalows have beautiful water views and easy access). Comfortable, well-appointed, clean, and the outdoor shower is delightful. It’s also nice to have a pool as an alternative to the ocean. Having electric car rental onsite is a nice convenience for exploring the island. Location is convenient with a handful of restaurants within walking distance. Thank you to Jayne, Lawrence, Simone, Tallulah, Captain the cat and the rest of the friendly staff for being such welcoming hosts, Can’t wait to return!

The Best Stay Ever!
Our stay at Magic Reef Bungalows was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at ease. The bungalows are beautifully designed, combining island charm with modern comfort, and the ocean views were simply breathtaking. The outdoor shower was such a unique and refreshing experience, making every moment feel special.
What made our stay even more memorable was Laurence, the owner. He was incredibly attentive and made sure everything was perfect for us. He went out of his way to make our stay truly personalized, even setting up the bungalow just the way we wanted. His warm hospitality made us feel like more than just guests.
The location is peaceful and ideal for relaxing, with easy access to nearby attractions. We spent our days by the pool and watching sunsets from our deck—absolute bliss!
If you’re looking for a magical getaway, Magic Reef Bungalows is the place to be. We couldn’t recommend it more and can’t wait to come back!

From start to finish we had a fabulous experience; very comfortable and spotless ocean view bungalow with the added bonus of kitchenette and free very fast Wi-Fi a bonus when I needed to work. Stunning sunsets and many whale sightings too!
The pool was warm and refreshing; the gardens are lush and well loved by the delightful resident gardener.
The e-vehicles that Lawrence and Simonne have available are a convenient way to explore the island. They also have lots of tips for restaurants and activities. Three of the restaurants we tried are within walking distance.
The perfect location for a relaxing week.
