I really don‘t understand the good reviews for this hostel. The staff is the grumpiest and unfriendlist I‘ve ever seen in a hostel (they don‘t even greet when people walk past the reception). Not just us but also other people, and other guests also said that they were pretty moody, switching between super friendly and super grumpy. Everyone working there has a really unmotivated face all the time, it made me even feel bad for them because it looked like they must have really bad working conditions. The kitchen was absolutely terrible, always dirty and the sink would get completely blocked all the time and it always took ages until someone cleaned it. In the middle of the night a group arrived and would shout across the corridor, where all the rooms are located, for a long time and none of the staff said anything.

Really lovely hostel — highlights are that the beds has curtains and were super spacious, free coffee and tea all day, and incredibly kind and helpful staff!

The rooms are super confortable! The hostel is super clean. The kichen is big and their is everything to cook! The staff, espacialy Alexandra, are SUPER helpfull! The pool and the bar are very nice.

Loved the stay here! The staff helped with everything and they were very nice. Beds were the best. Haven’t had a 2 person bed in a looooong time. Lovely!

Me and my brother stayed there for a few nights and loved our stay! The rooms are very large, clean and even though there are few windows and natural light, there is AC at night which is quite nice. Mattress is comfortable and beds have their own privacy with curtains, plug and locker. Bathrooms are clean, though there was no hot water! Staff is incredible, sweet, accommodating and always here to help and make sure you're having a good time. Pool is and happy hour are a nice addition :)

The best hostel were to stay in San Gil!
The manager and the stuff is amazing, the spaces are large to find a quite place, the pool is very good, the kitchen good enough and they help you a lot with everything. I had a problem with my bus to Bucaramanga because of the Easter and they helped me out trying their best!
Absolutely recommended.

Great place. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Let us park our motorcycles inside their garage. Did a load of laundry. Helped me figure out the bus to Bogota and helped us plan other activities. Met some cool travelers here as well.

Fantastic hostel. The rooms are nice, the pool is nice, the breakfast is delicious, and the strawberry dacquiris are honestly completely out of this world. The staff were all fantastic, with a particular shout out to Joss who was wonderful and gave us a SUPER helpful and detailed explanation of the things to do while in San Gil.

The place is very big, the pool is awesome, the kitchen is clean, the food is good, and the environment is really cheered up, with beers, music and people.
It's the perfect place to meet other travelers, make friendships, change experiences, and have fun!
The beds are huge, and are very comfortable.

Best hostal in Colombia. Price ratio is awesome. Enjoyed the pool and the large cooking area a lot! The beds in the dorms are also super large and with curtains and individual lamp for extra privacy. The staff is super nice and welcoming. Recommend and would come back!

Trip Monkey San Gil is a fantastic hostel at a fair price. We got in from a night bus very early and were greeted by the front desk person who made the check in quick and easy, showed us where we could leave our bags for the day, and introduced us to the very friendly ladies in the kitchen. Breakfast is great with 4 options and the ladies are very nice. Ask for the salsa picante if you like spice! We were then introduced to our activity liaison who helped us pick our activities over the next three days and his advice was spot on to make the most out of our time there. They put an emphasis on using companies that pay an honest wage to their staff and still offer a very fair price to the consumer. They also have agreements at each of the main companies that offer the excursions to add the cost to your bill at the hostel which is really convenient. The beds are comfortable even in the largest dorm I got great sleep. We met great people from all over the world. And the showers had good pressure hot water and soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided!

Location is solid, they have a pool, some activities, and everyone that works there is legit. It’s the spot to stay in San Gil if you’re looking for a great hostel experience.
