I really enjoyed my stay at Mapara Lodge. The location is secluded and beautiful. The cabins are basic but comfortable. No AC, but didn't really feel like I needed it. Hot water was surprisingly good in the shower (needed it after getting rained on all day fishing). Wifi was iffy and mostly didn't work, but didn't go there for Wifi. On a private beach with no one else around. Food was ok; no stomach problems at all which was great. Despite it raining quite a bit in the evenings, there were shockingly few mosquitoes. I never had to put on repellent and maybe got one or two bites.

This is an absolutely stunning place from beginning to the end. Even outside the whale watching season. Quiet, breathtaking, relaxing. Loads of wildlife all over. As an entomologist, herpotologist or ornithologist you will have quite some fun. Jose is a great host and always helpful and approachable in solving any small issues. He also knows the place very well as he spent a lot of time over 30 years around this beautiful bay. The food is simple, but very fresh and tasty. I would sell my soul right away to spend another week in this place!

My husband and I stayed at Mapara Lodge and LOVED every moment of it. There is nothing more relaxing and therapeutic than staying in a cabin that is surrounded by the lush jungle and the majestic pacific ocean away from the stressors of city life. The lodge offers a wide range of activities from fishing, hiking, to visiting the local indigenous community. The staff here is super nice and attentive to your needs. The food is AMAZING and always fresh since they serve what they fished day. We highly recommend Mapara Lodge next time you go to Bahia Solano.

All Colombian citizens, regardless of the length of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days, are required to pay a national sales tax (19%) on their accommodation during their stay.
