Nedong, also known as Nêdong, is a district located in the Shannan Prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region in China. It is situated in the Yarlung Valley, which is considered the cradle of Tibetan civilization. The district is known for its rich cultural and historical significance, as it is home to several ancient monasteries, temples, and palaces. Nedong is famous for the Yumbulagang Palace, which is believed to be the first palace built in Tibet and is a symbol of Tibetan history and culture. The district is also home to the Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet, and the Tradruk Temple, which is one of the oldest temples in the region.
