  All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room.
