Ventana Sur Hostal Hostel

I stayed here as the the beginning of my travels through South America and I'm back for a second time but only to travel through Santiago this time. I enjoyed my time so much I wanted to come again! I'd highly recommend it here. The company is great, the hostel is clean and well kept and the location is perfect ✌

Nice, very nice small hostel. Nowhere is perfect but this is close.

Super hostel. Good common spaces, nice pool out back, comfy mattresses, great owner, door is manned 24x7 so no worries if you have a late night out or are arriving early. Ivan is super helpful with answering any questions you might have. Good breakfast of cereal, bread, spreads and some cold cuts. And they even send you a comprehensive email with a map and directions to reach before you get there. And they even have a nice metro card exchange which can save you a few pesos if you’re in luck. ;)

Cute location with a pool. Not the cleanest. Owner was chill. Expensive for what you get. Hot rooms at night.

A great hostel with amazing staff. It's a converted house so it's relatively small, but very comfortable with good common areas. It's a great place to meet people.

Ótimo Hostel, boa localização no Barrio Itália, próximo ao metrô. É um lugar pequeno e aconchegante, pessoal do hostel é bem prestativo.

I'm writing this from Ventana's sunny back patio. I'll probably sound like I've been asked by the owner to post a review but that's only because this place is just my style. Ventana is a clean, very cool, older house in a very hip, safe neighborhood. Ivan manages it very well and the guests here are chill, friendly people. His policy on breakfast (no strict hours, just ask for yours when you're ready) allows me to run to the local park to work out, (Providencia has an exercise park close by) then return to get cleaned up and have my toast and coffee in the early afternoon which suits me perfectly. Don't let the "not downtown" location fool you. I walked to city center in a half hour yesterday and could have taken buses or subways (3 blocks away) to get there in 15 minutes or less. Close to what you want but just outside so as to allow the peaceful feel. If I ever return to Santiago, I'll be staying at Ventana. The two things I did do, to make it perfect for me, was to bring layers to wear at the house in evening (I visited in winter) and you may have to ask if others mind you turning off the television if you don't want it on in the common space continuously. Nothing a mature communicator can't handle! I love this place.
