Review of Oak Bay Beach Hotel 4*

For the most part, we had an enjoyable stay at Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Snug Pub had some fantastic food. We ordered Nachos, Calamari, Cobb Salad, and Bacon & Mushroom pizzas the times that we ate there. We enjoyed all the food. The pool was really nice. Kinda weird getting into a hot pool on a hot day tho. The hot tubs were avoided because it was just too hot out to want to sit in. One annoying thing we noticed was that there weren't enough loungers and too many empty chairs with towels left attempting to reserve them. A large party of people took up 3 tables and then took off for over an hour, leaving their belongings to keep the tables reserved. Would've been nice of the pool staff to put those belongings into the bar area after realizing that they had been vacant for such a long time. So many people came to the pool wondering WTF to sit because of this. We had a spa treatment, but the waiting area was not relaxing at all. Doors constantly slamming, the "Spa Professionals" room, aka the laundry room, had a loud banging noise the 20 mins or so we were sitting in there. Wasn't exactly relaxing at all do have the door constantly opening and closing with 'spa professionals' constantly going in and out of that room to get more towels. Not very good planning, IMO. Having to listen to doors slamming and people shuffling in and out of that room didn't exactly get us into any sort of frame of mind of relaxation to prep for our massage. The food was great. The hotel surroundings and room were really nice. Our experience at the spa/pool was disappointing.
