Blaylock's Mansion

I really enjoyed my stay here. Note, this is definitely a bed and breakfast as opposed to a conventional hotel. Please note there is no A/C, there is no way they could put it in without ugly window units. However the history here is unbeatable in the Kootenays, absolutely stunning garden, grounds and architecture. Rooms are spacious and clean with a charming feel. Full sized lane pool is awesome. I can't imagine the amount of money it takes to maintain this place to this standard.
A few things for management to note: Carpet in the games room needs a cleaning. Also, you have this beautiful full sized snooker table. However, the the cues are broken/rough and the chalk needs to be replaced, what's the point of having a nice table if it's literally unusable?

We had our wedding weekend at Blaylock. Everything was amazing! They worked with us to bring our vision to life. They were helpful for every request we had and we were able to do everything as if it we were in our own home. Brett and Jennifer made us feel so welcome and were truly incredible.
Our guests loved their rooms and the mansion was just beautiful as were the gardens and the estate. The views are unbeatable and the grounds are just gorgeous.
Our wedding looked incredible and it was unforgettable. If you want a wedding like that, definitely consider this place.

July 14-18 … Utterly Fantastic Stay at the Blaylock Mansion… on 40 acres… amazing that the price is same of much lesser accommodations… Gardens were such a joy each morning to walk with my coffee… pool clean and very large… stunning views … this Mansion is a dream to explore… One note of importance is to book directly from their site!

My husband and I recently stayed at Blaylock Mansion and we really enjoyed our time there. We felt so at home in the whole house. We were greeted by Brett who gave us a tour and told us some of the history. It was a wonderful experience from the huge pool to the games room to Jennifer’s delicious breakfast on Saturday morning. We stayed in the Presidential Suite which was spectacular! Brett and Jennifer are a husband and wife who welcome you into their mansion and treat you like family. We loved it!

If you want to take an amazing journey back into time and experience the height of early 20th century elegance and opulence then look no further — Blaylock Mansion is the place for you! My wife and I spent two nights there in November and were simply amazed with our overall experience. The mansion is filled with period furniture, photos, and memorabilia from the early 1900's. It's a beautiful and stately home that was built by an icon of the Canadian mining community and it's stood the test of time with dignity and grace.
Our room was located upstairs, and was large and comfortably furnished, with it's own ensuite bath. The main floor has a grand main entrance with a beautiful sitting room and large solarium on one side, and a dining room and memorabilia room on the other. You can order breakfast in the morning if you'd like, however all your other meals must be eaten off premises. We spent our mornings in the solarium enjoying the lake and mountain views, and our evenings in the sitting room by the large welcoming fireplace sipping brandy — our own, of course, and it seemed to fit the elegance of our surroundings very nicely.
The lower level has a billiards room with the original billiards table still very playable, and another sitting area to relax in. Every space is cozy and has a warm and luxurious feel to it. The grounds are beautiful — especially the rock garden — and must be explored to fully appreciate the majesty of this property.

We were at the mansion for my nephew’s wedding. The wedding took place on the upper lawn with a beautiful view. The bathroom facilities were awful. I am in a wheelchair and the only toilets on the upper lawn were two tilting portable toilets down a dusty road. At night they did not even have lights. One of the guests at the wedding put a couple of lanterns down the road so you could see where you were going. Apparently you could go all the way back down the property to the mansion and use the facilities there which I couldn’t do because of the stairs. Ended up leaving early because I could not face trying to use the toilets again. Very disappointing.

Brett, was very accommodating about the wedding booking process! I appreciate how flexible and understanding he was with us. Highly recommended.

My wife Sandra and I had the unique experiene of staying at Blylock Mansion a few months back Brett and his wife are amazing hosts. The place was "Over the Top" amazing. The mansion was so peaceful and very quiet. At night you literally could hear a pin drop. The gardens on the property were immaculate and reminded me about of Butchart Gardens in Victoria. If you are in Nelson and want an amazing experience you have to consider a stay at the Blaylock Mansion. My wife and I plan to come back very soon.

Mansion was built in the 1930's and is being lovingly maintained by the current owners. Workmanship of the builders is incredible and is something to see. Gardens are also beautiful. Loved our time there.

We have stayed at other historic mansions and this was truly the most peaceful and comfortable one we've stayed at so far.
The warm and endearing hospitality from Jennifer and Brett was an added bonus, and their love for this property shines through every aspect of the experience. Staying here was a peaceful escape from the usual hotel experience, and we can’t wait to return. If you’re searching for a unique and unforgettable stay, Blaylock Mansion is an absolute treasure.

My wife and I had our wedding here in July 2024. It was absolutely beautiful and worth it. We did the "Keys to the Mansion" package that gave us basically 3 full days on site, with exclusive use of the property.
The cost for those 3 days was about the same that it would cost us for one evening at some locations in Vancouver — so the value is absolutely there.
Brett and his staff were super accommodating and hard working. They ensured that every detail on the day of was taken care of, and allowed us to be fully present in the moment of our big day.
We even forgot to get cups for coffee/tea service and one of his staff quickly went into town to get it for us.
The views are absolutely remarkable and our wedding photos look like they are out of a magazine.
We did get really hot weather that weekend, and it being a heritage building it does not have air conditioning, but once again, Brett and his staff did everything they could to make us comfortable. I caught Brett setting up fans and filling up ice at midnight once.
I cant recommend it enough.

When is a bed and breakfast like a fairytale? When you're staying at the Blaylock Mansion, that's when!
This beautiful building is situated at the base of a forested mountain, facing a sparkling lake. The grounds are well-manacured with a clean, inviting pool.
The inside is well-maintained and smartly decorated. As weird as it might sound, the carpeting throughout the building is amazingly plush and maybe my (second) favorite part of The Blaylock. :)
But the best aspect of this establishment are the owners. Brett and Jennifer are warm and friendly. They welcomed us with open arms like family and made sure our stay was comfortable.
We will definitely return for another magical stay.

My wife has always wanted to stay at the Blaylock Mansion, and for years has made the trek to take photos in front of the beautiful mature trees and vista when travelling nearby.
We decided to make a go of it and were not disappointed. We arrived later in the evening and Brett met us at the door. He spent time with us speaking about the history of the building, the gardens, and was the perfect host for this trip.
We stayed during the summer when there was quite a lot of smoke outside due to wildfires and were pleasantly surprised the mansion had fresh and clean air.
The mansion has many common spaces to use and explore and we enjoyed sharing a bottle of prosecco while exploring the space. The mansion is lit from the outside and the effect of these lights in the rooms at night was positively atmospheric. The room was comfortable and exactly as described on the listing.
The breakfast was light and delicious with a yogurt parfait and a very enjoyable casserole with fresh orange juice and coffee. We followed up our breakfast with a tour of the gardens and enjoyed taking pictures with the stunning arbours and natural water features.
We would recommend this place for couples, and especially those who enjoy taking time in gardens. I know that we will be back, my wife has already told her Mom and I am pretty sure a girls weekend will be in order next summer.

I stayed one night and wish I'd stayed more! It was a beautiful and quiet mansion with lots of spaces to wander and enjoy, both inside and outside. The gardens are beautifully manicured and inside, you step back in time. I was encouraged to enjoy all the rooms and amenities and did my best, even though I was only there for one night. Though there is no A/C, fans are provided in the rooms and windows can be opened for additional air flow or cooling at night. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed talking with the owners. If you're looking for a place to stay that's "out of the ordinary", I'd definitely recommend Blaylock's Mansion. Thanks for a wonderful stay, I loved it and would definitely return!
