Pine Lodge

Hayride was behind schedule only allowing half the group to go. We were told the other half could go after our meal, but overheard staff laughing about how "theres not going to be an after".
Food was sparse, not great, and very rushed. We could hear staff complaining about how they wanted to finish at 12 and that we should've booked earlier despite us only being behind schedule due to their own poor time management.
We still left within our alotted time slot. I definitely dont recommend, probably one of the worst "sugar shacks" in the area.

We chose to continue tubing because the hayride was not there and it pushed into our meal time. We showed up an hour prior to the meal to give enough time but he wasnt there. We did mention this to staff and they told us we should've booked earlier in the day. Then continued to complain about our groups booking because they have to drive to Buckingham after for a hockey game.
The fact that as the owner you would defend this kind of behavior says more than enough about this business.

We have had several weeks of pre-cooked meals delivered from Pine Lodge. The volume and quality is beyond excellent. I’ve had to cook for others for 50 years…. So tired! This weekly delivery has been the best gift ever! So many meals arrived that I had never attempted…. A little bit of heaven arriving every week. If you need a gift for someone…. A week’s worth of meals would never go unappreciated!

We used the Pine Lodge as a launching pad for a week long snowmobile trip. The owners graciously allowed us to park our trucks and trailers while we were gone. We arrived at dinner time to a delicious 1/2 rack of ribs (the biggest I have ever seen). They were tasty and properly cooked. The children of the owners were our hosts at dinner time and breakfast… Both boys get 5* and could teach a few restaurants about customer service. We were 6 people in total and had 6 rooms… There was a nice sitting room that allowed us to gather. The shared bathrooms were clean and functional. The whole place had a classic cottage vibe that we personally loved. If you are looking for modern… don't come here. If you want traditional old lodge vibes you will not be disappointed. Thanks for the great stay!

Unfortunately, there isn't much good I can say about this hostel. First off, for the time of the year and the amenities, the prices are quite high. I got the keys on the arranged check in time when I knocked on their house door (adjacent to the hostel) and young man told me to go in and the keys would be brought to me. Then I only saw staff when it was time to collect for the room the next day. The walkway in front is very dangerous as the ramp does not go all the way down the steps and the lighting existed only close to the building. The cement for the walk is also uneven. When I booked, it said that it included breakfast but on the day of arrival, I was told that the kitchen was closed. I was in Shawville for my wife's operation and I only give the 2 stars because of the proximity to the hospital and I guess that as a hostel (not really a lodge) it works but the experience was bad. I would not recommend and the locals told me the same when I told them where I was staying. I hear they are new owners and I wish them well nonetheless.

Great service and extremely inviting if you know muskoka here it is in Bristol family owned with that family feeling.

Came here for the brunch and sugar shack experience. The food was amazing—especially the maple donuts. They were probably the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life! Service was great, and the maple syrup is also quite affordable and definitely very tasty. Staff was great and so was the food and atmosphere. Worth every penny!

Thoroughly enjoyed the sugar shack experience. Brunch was buffet style with good variety. Maple syrup is high quality and made on site, Loved the meat pie. Short horse and carriage ride to the maple syrup production location (don't forget the taffee on snow! ). Owners were friendly and happy to explain the process and answer our many questions — you can tell they are passionate and proud of their maple syrup at Pine Lodge. Highly recommended for a delicious and educational experience.

We went for the sugar Shack and it was amazing. They showed us the process, the food was great, beautiful place. Recommended!

We had a great meal at the Cabane à Sucre this weekend. Very generous portions, good coffee, and the actual sugar shack in the woods (reached by a horse carriage) was super interesting. See you again next year!

It is a beautiful spot, unfortunately there is a total lack of communication with the staff/management and guests. I would not recommend hosting events here, issues regarding extra charges go unresponded to for months. We had issues with rooms and menus months ago and it is still to be resolved. They seem understaffed and overwhelmed.

I stayed here for a wedding in the fall and this business has treated the wedding party and bride and groom with the utmost disrespect, we were charged extra for things we didn't recieve. Upon arriving I was charged more for my room than originally quoted. At no point were my phone calls or messages ever returned to book a room months and weeks in advance. We were also missing items at the dinner which took months to even get a reply about. We were told we were getting filet mignon and we got sliced pieces of roast beef COLD may I add, and after directly asking staff about our meal they confirmed it was sliced beef not fillet minion. The dessert was also completely dried out I was in shock at the quality of the food for a wedding, I feel awful that this kind of money was spent to not have what was originally trialed. I wasn't going to leave a review but the outcome has been upsetting and people deserve to know. The rooms (but 1) had no AC and the bathroom was in the hallway so you had to use the facilities/change hygiene products and then touch multiple door handles to get back into your own room to wash your hands. There has been no accountability on this business to make amends for their mistakes, only excuses, the way they respond to people who have paid them good money has been unprofessional and I would not recommend spending your money here for a big event.

We had dinner at Pine Lodge. It was very nice. Friendly service. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. Inside was beautiful as well — original lodge is very charming. We had local beer and cider which was excellent. We ate bruschetta, fish and chips, chicken club sandwich — all A+. Bruschetta was so good it was almost gone before I remembered to take a picture!

Nothing bad to say, nice staff, nice place, room was ok old but confortable with bathroom (not all rooms have private bathroom) bed was comfortable, nice patio outside. There is also a beach not too far from the hotel so we went kayaking for a while.

Went to get away. And it delivered. Staff was attentive and always ready to help.
Cabin was perfect, just what I was looking for a; step up from ground camping (read:away from mosquitos). We didn't stay in the main lodge.
Cabin had more than I expected, with a fridge, propane stove top, 2 separate rooms, deck and firepit. (Do note, no shower. But there are some available in the lodge at a minimal cost. )
Phone worked the whole time (if you want it to) and there's access to internet.
Beach was well maintained and clean.
We had no noise issues, but were there early week.
Going back for sure.

We went to Bristol Pine Lodge for a group tour with a bus full of seniors from Chapeau. We had an amazing breakfast and tour of the sugar shack! Service was fantastic and so very welcoming. ❤️Food was delicious and.
Very filling! We would definitely go again!

Amazing home cooked brunch and Sugar Shack experience at a rustic lodge with wagon rides and taffy. The homemade maple donuts are the best I've ever tasted. The maple syrup alone is worth the drive — about 45 minutes from Aylmer.
I'll definitely be back.
