Had a wonderful stay at the William Gray in Montreal! Perfect location in the old port with plenty of dining options around. The room was lovely and very spacious. The service here is exceptional and very attentive. The staff is very welcoming and charismatic. Many thanks to Diego, Francesca, and Eddy who made us feel right at home and were super helpful during our stay.

Perfectly located in Old Montreal, this quaint yet modern hotel was the best place to come back to after a long day of sightseeing in the cold. The staff was very friendly and rooms were clean. Dont skip the spa, it's a beautiful retreat!

Such a great stay at Hotel William Gray! The hotel is beautiful, modern, and perfectly located. A special thank you to Theodora at the concierge desk, she was incredibly helpful and recommended some amazing restaurants that made our trip even better. Coming back to our room to find cute pastries was such a thoughtful and sweet touch. My girlfriend and I felt truly welcomed and taken care of, and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend this hotel for both the service and the overall experience!

I don’t write a lot of reviews but I had to for this one.
Cleanliness: This is something my wife and I are very particular on (Probably a little too particular at times). However we loved just how clean everything was. From our room to restaurants and common areas, things were extremely clean.
Experience: We loved this hotel. Surrounded by old world charm yet inside was modern. We had the basic room but was great for us. One of the big reasons we picked this hotel was due to the spa. We found that there was enough to do in the Thermal Experience and not busy at all, sometimes having the whole place to ourselves. Given that it was January, it was nice to have everything inside.
Language: Given that we only speak English, I am always a little concerned when traveling to Quebec if there will be a language barrier but we don’t find that at all. All the staff spoke perfect, or nearly perfect, English. This extended to the employees at the surrounding shops too.
Location: Willam Grey is situated perfectly in Old Montreal. Surrounded by the beauty of the old city, close to the water, not to mention numerous shops and restaurants all around. We went in January and the Christmas lights combined with the old buildings made for an absolutely beautiful setting.
Security: One small detail that I always appreciate when I see it is hotels that require you to use your room key to operate the elevator. Obviously this is not impenetrable but it does add a little security which I appreciate.

New Year’s Eve Ball at Hotel William Gray was my first experience and definitely my last.
Because of the announced Old Port road closures, I contacted the hotel days in advance to ask how guests attending the event (without a room reservation) should plan their arrival, parking, and timing. I live only 20 minutes away, so a room was not essential, but proper planning was. I was initially told there would be no issue arriving at 7 PM. After I forwarded official city notices recommending arrival before 5 PM, the hotel replied that valet parking was an option on a first come, first served basis, or nearby street parking.
Based on this information, I arrived early at 4:45 PM, expecting to park at valet. At arrival, the valet attendant informed me that valet parking was only for hotel guests with rooms, despite this never being mentioned in any email. When I questioned this contradiction, Eleni Albanis was called. Her attitude was dismissive and disrespectful. Instead of addressing the misinformation, she simply said I could not park there and offered to refund my event ticket—15 minutes before the roads were about to close, while I was already dressed for a formal event. This is completely unprofessional for a hotel of this level.
Had this restriction been clearly communicated in advance, I would have planned my outfit, footwear, and transportation differently with my friend.

This hotel and service exceed my expectations. I planned a surprise birthday trip for my fiancee. The hotel not only provided us an early check in, but also upgraded our room and brought us cake and a heartfelt card. We felt so taken care of! Despite being in a wonderful location, we didn't want to leave the hotel. The view from our room was spectacular, and there was so much to explore with the hotel. We will definitely be back!

I recently DJ’d a corporate Christmas party at Hotel William Gray, and I have to say, the experience was on another level. I’ve worked at countless hotels and venues over the years, but I have never received service as outstanding as I did here.
From the front desk to the valet to the staff inside, everyone was warm, professional, and incredibly accommodating. But one person stood out in particular: Paulo, the doorman.
Paulo went above and beyond from the moment I arrived. He helped me with valet, assisted with all my equipment, and treated me with the same care and attention you’d expect for a VIP guest even though I was simply there to DJ an event. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine willingness to help made a huge difference in my day.
If management reads this, Paulo is a true asset to your team. His level of service reflects the high standards of the hotel, and it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. This was by far the best treatment I’ve ever received while working an event.
Highly recommend Hotel William Gray! it’s a class act from start to finish.

We had an excellent stay at the William Gray, but what truly stood out was the valet team, especially Paulo and Eric. Both went above and beyond every single day. They were fast, professional, and consistently thoughtful in a way you don’t often see anymore. They anticipated what we needed before we even asked, made every arrival and departure seamless, and treated us with genuine care.
Their service set the tone for the entire stay and is a major reason we’d return. The hotel is beautiful, but Paulo and Eric made it exceptional.

We had our wedding at The William Gray and our event, as well as our stay, was absolutely amazing. We loved that the hotel was a mix of old and new architecture and the common spaces are gorgeous.
Our out-of-town guests had a great experience from the moment they checked-in and throughout the event. The staff at The William Gray really takes care of you and helps you with anything you may need or questions you may have.
The food and service was absolutely amazing, especially during our wedding reception where we've received non-stop compliments from our guests.
The room that was provided to us was modern, very clean and had an amazing view of the Old Port. We had no trouble sleeping and were provided with many complimentary gifts throughout the day.
We would definitely stay there again!

We recently celebrated our wedding at Hotel William Gray, and it was truly magical from start to finish. The team went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect—from the planning stages to the big day itself.
The venue is stunning, with a mix of elegance and charm that created the ideal backdrop for our celebration. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring, making us feel supported throughout the entire process. Our guests were equally impressed and still talk about how beautiful and seamless everything was.
And we cannot forget to mention the food—it was absolutely amazing! Every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and added so much to the overall experience.

My stay at Hotel William Gray was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The service was truly 5-star, and the location in the heart of Old Port Montreal just steps from incredible restaurants was perfect. The staff made us feel genuinely special, and it was hard to even leave the hotel. Highly recommend!

I stayed at the William Gray this past weekend and, unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations for a hotel that’s often ranked among the best in Canada.
We had booked an upgraded package well in advance, but when we arrived, nothing we paid for was in our room. Not a great first impression.
We had also booked morning access to the spa, which was a major reason we chose this hotel. When we arrived, none of the facilities were working. The sauna wasn’t even warm—my partner could literally pick up the sauna rocks with his bare hands. We were told it would take over 20 minutes for anything to heat up, which completely defeated the purpose of booking a morning session. We ended up leaving.
To cap it off, we never received our bill by email after checkout. When we called to confirm what was on file, we were repeatedly told to “check our spam, ” even though we already had. When we finally asked them to read back the email address they had, it was wrong. Instead of simply asking us for the correct email, we were told to email them and request the bill. The dismissive attitude was really the issue—not the extra step.
Overall, the hotel’s reputation didn’t match the experience. Beautiful property, but the lack of attention to detail and poor customer service made this a disappointing stay. I hope our situation was an anomaly, but for the price and prestige, it shouldn’t happen at all.

Excellent customer service. I was a walk in after my booked hotel had cancelled my reservation at very late notice.
Kenny gave an extremely warm welcome.
I only stayed one night, however would love to come back and stay longer.
I dined at Maggie Oakes, the hotel restaurant for dinner. And also for breakfast. Both meals were above expectations. I really enjoyed my stay and am so grateful to have had this experience. Perfect location too.

We had our wedding at the William Gray, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The entire team was wonderful, but a very special thank you goes to Aline, who made everything seamless and stress free. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made our day truly perfect.
The hotel also offered us the honeymoon suite, which was stunning, elegant, comfortable, and with the most beautiful view. Every detail felt thoughtful and personal.
The evening before the wedding, we had dinner with our family at one of the hotel’s restaurants, where the staff surprised us with a few lovely touches that made the experience even more special.
The William Gray is a magical place to celebrate a wedding, elegant, warm, and full of heart. We couldn’t have imagined a better venue for such an important day. Highly recommend! 💕

Great boutique hotel in old town… very walkable to different places.
It's reasonably priced and has a nice rooftop bar, as well as a nice restaurant and some shops on the first floor, where we were able to buy some last minute cloth because it was cold.
Also walkable to Notre-Dame, where you can buy tickets to a light show, worth seeing!

I was staying at the sister property which is also lovely Auberge de Vieux Port in the lofts. I wanted to work out so I went to the front desk and I interacted with Diego who was so helpful and let me know how they would like for me to try out the hotel. He explained to me about the amazing benefits of The William Grey. He gave me an amazing sampling of the bath products they provide. La Labo! Also his colleague Kenny was so friendly as well. I will be back to stay.

Loved this hotel,. Situated off of Rue Saint Paul in the Old Port/Old Montreal area. It's on a quaint side cobblestone street, with lots of great restaurants, cocktail bars, and shops right in walking distance.
It's very well appointed with Le Labo toiletries, and the space is very functional and chic. We were upgraded to a corner king suite for our anniversary and the porch and views were stunning! Rooms are quiet, bathroom is spacious, really no complaints. Coffee shop on site was fantastic and open until 12am and bustling at all hours even in off season.
The concierge on site was always helpful.
Only complaint was that the housekeeping service rang early one morning and was pretty much waiting for us to leave our room, but I feel bad even complaining about that.
Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.
