LE 402 - Hostel

Please don't go. You will regret 100%. It's completely different from the picture. I couldn't stay because there is only one bed, no window, spider web on the ceiling, no TV, no air conditioner, a dusty pan. I feel like I've been scammed. This hotel should not be operated.

Avoid this one.
Room looked nothing like photos provided. There was damage to the walls and furniture. Part of the wall was still unfinished drywall.
The bulbs had been removed from the ceiling lights and there was just one small lamp in the corner.
The room reached temperatures of 34 degrees Celsius. The only window in the room opened directly onto a fire escape, which means if you wanted to open the window, anyone could climb directly into the room.
The door had a significant gap when locked and could easily be pried open.
The room was cleaned once in 5 days.
The shower had no hot water.
The bathroom was broken.

Like other reviews mentioned, Le 402 is a gem considering price and location. Staff are all very friendly and helpful — we especially enjoyed conversing with Enrique! This is an excellent choice for realistic travelers on a bit of a budget looking for safe, simple, comfortable accommodation. Absolutely perfect for my spouse and me! We can’t wait to return. Merci!

Really helpful staff, my checkout was 11 but I had an interview till 2pm. They allowed me late checkout and kept my belongings safe.

I just spent four days here while attending Pouzza Fest 2024 and I absolutely loved it. For the price and location, you really can't beat it as a budget option.
Even the communal bathrooms and showers were not too bad to contend with at all. I would 100% stay here again.

This is the worst place me and my partner have ever stayed. How is it legal to sell rooms in this condition? If you value your money stay far away from this place. Absolute dump. Thank the heavens we’re only staying in this cesspit trash heap for one night.

Overall I would stay here again for the price as it was no where close to the price of anything else in the area. To start with the good things there was a gentleman who works there who helped us figure out how to get into the rooms! The area was fantastic 30 min walk to Eaton and Bell centre and a beautiful walk at that, didn’t even feel that long.
The only complaints is the there nothing to prevent any noise cancellation, you could hear everyone’s conversations in their room. When the cleaning lady was cleaning at 8am I could hear everything she was doing which made it difficult to sleep in. Our sheets had a massive stain on them. They were clean sheets but the massive stain that either looked like urine or coffee did make us a little off put.
Again overall would stay again for the price.

Despite all these bad reviews, I found this place to be super worth the price! I stayed there for a night. Location is superb, I got room number 1, room was clean and great light in the room.
There're common area like kitchen, fridge, washer and dryer, which are really nice too.
Note that toilets and bathrooms are shared and while they offer towels in the room, there's no toiletries so bring your own. Oh, also you'll have to walk up some flights of stairs so your luggage shouldn't be too heavy 😂
Overall, I'm not mad at anything for its price and would definitely come back to this place if visiting Montreal!

Despite all the bad reviews I read about the place, the room wasn’t that bad after all.
Pros:
-Location.
-View.
-Common area.
-Washer, fridge, microwave etc.
-Newly painted walls etc.
-Big windows and cool old hip building.
-Sheets were clean.
-Shared shower and washroom on each floor.
-Best bang for your buck when compared to other hotels in the area.
-No human interaction necessary. Everything is done online. You will get messages with instructions and door code on your booking website chat/messages section or your email.
Cons:
-No parking (but I found a parking garage across the street for $20 for 24 hours).
-The whole place looked like an unfinished project.
-Doors do lock but slight drywall gaps to fix etc.
-The closet was basically like a half-done ikea assembly job.
-Shared washrooms (almost always busy)
-Clean washroom but sink was clogged.
Overall, It seemed like the hotel is halfway through renovation but its trying to get people to change its overall rating before jacking the price up. I paid 82cad+taxes for a couple bedroom (literally a bed, closet and a pedestal fan) so after a good nap, I could get out of the hotel straight onto the busiest old Montreal streets.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and the location was great. It was in the heart of Old Montreal which meant most places were walkable. The owner was nice but the room we stayed at could use some improvement. Our mattress was slanted in a way where we'd get blood rushing to our heads if we slept normally. So we had to sleep with our heads at the footboard to prevent that. One of our pillows was almost as thin as the blanket, so I asked for another pillow but they didn't carry extras. I wish we had night stands for more surface area to put our stuff and a couple of hooks on the wall for dirty clothes & wet towels. We ended up hanging wet towels & dirty clothes on the headboard and vanity chair. The windows were stuck so we couldn't get fresh air in our room. The owner was nice though and gave us an extra fan which helped a lot. Overall, its a decent place to stay at if you're going to be out most of the time. It's just these small inconveniences that make the experience not the best.
