We arrived late evening as we were traveling home from Halifax. The room we were provided was very clean and modern. It looked like it may have recently been renovated. The beds had pillow top mattresses and were very comfortable. We are breakfast in one of the hotel's restaurants, just simple eggs and bacon, but it included a good selection of fresh fruit. The service was quick and the food good. The only thing a bit odd was the devote of the main lobby, which was quasi-medevial theme and I'm not sure why.

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and it was perfect. This year it was so busy we couldn't get a reservation for supper until 9:30 which was not convenient as we had our son with us. We were able to get in to the cafe which had a buffet but they didn't tell us that was an option when we checked in they seemed to only want to direct us to the restaurant. There are no restaurants within walking distance just the two within the hotel. The pizza was fantastic. Room was large and clean no complaints.

Ok location, nothing near by on foot. Comfy room, clean aswell. Had someone walk in the room early in the morning, quite scary. No free breakfast, pricy for the quality. If you aren't there long it's fine, but wouldn't stay for more than a day.

Very nice hotel, clean and spacious room. The staff was courteous and smiling. I had the chance to have a room renovate and without carpet, although there are still some with carpet. Nice pool open until 10pm:)

We just stopped by there for lunch. It seems as if there’s a casino there but we didn’t check it out. The outside looks non-descript but the inside looks quite unique. There are lots of stained glass decorations. The lobby looks grand and classic. The dining room is very modern with whole wall of glass window so we can sit comfortably in the sun. We ordered the 3-course meals. They served with a basket of toasty home made buns. First course is a bowl of pumpkin soup — delicious. The main course is either spaghetti with meat sauce (big portion but spaghetti too soft) or chicken quarters with garden greens and wild rice (quite good).

The room was nice, close to a few restaurants or the Brewery. The pool seems to be good except I forgot my bathing suit, so I could not enjoy it. I was welcomed when I Arrived. But the training room is very sad.

Nice, clean rooms. Had a wonderful massage. Excellent treatment overall. Convenient location close to other restaurants if you want to get out. I was a little disappointed that not even basic breakfast is included. I'd also recommend they they a discounted spa access rate for the evening. I would have loved to have tried it out but a full day rate for an hour is not a reasonable price.

The hot meal is super good. Service at the restaurant the canopy is excellent. Thank you.

Room/spa/lunch package. Good quality-price. New room, very comfortable beds and very good service at the spa.

Very loud, did not sleep well. People talking and being noisy until 2:30 am. Hotel did nothing to quiet them down. Food at restaurant is pretty bad.

Cleanliness to let desire. The white duvet cover was stained and/or unwashed. The rooms seem to have been semi-renovated with old. It is not successful. The price was high for what we got. The people working for the hotel were little smiling.

The spa is very very good, ideal for going to rest. The conference rooms are clean and spacious and the food served in the restaurant section is delicious. I unfortunately didn't visit the rooms, so I can't rate them.

It is a very pleasant and accessible hotel, in which it is nice to spend a few days. The service is impeccable and the rooms are very nice and spacious.
The two restaurants serve a very suitable kitchen.
It is a place where it is always nice to return. It is very well located, and there is little to complain about.

Hotel with recent but small rooms for a family stay. I had asked for an extra bed when booking, it was not installed when we arrived. We had to move half the room to find a place for ourselves as we were just brought to the door of the room. Pool with lots of people, the Spa is really small compared to the size of the hotel and the pool. I had booked for several days, stayed 1 day and changed hotels.

I stayed on the new renovated side of the hotel and it was great. Looked good, was silent and clean. The old portions of the hotel really need a tune up tough.

To stay for a few days off this is the ideal place in Riviere-du-Loup. Training Centre, spa, Nordic spa and swimming pool. Without forgetting a magnifice massage parlor with high quality masseurs and you have the choice of the kinds of massages. Two restaurants on site or have eat there very well. A choice of room according to your tastes. Harry and the others are really professional. I recommend it to you.

Nice place, the original section is dated and some of the furniture needs updating but overall friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and the off-season price is reasonable. There is a new wing that has been built which looks very modern. The gym is small even for a hotel, but especially for a complex of this size. The pool is fine. The spa facilities are acceptable, but the regulation of keeping guests within a reasonable volume is lackluster at best. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Good hotel, clean, easy access to Highway 20 and RTE 132. The excellence and prestige rooms are really good. Two restaurants on site, I recommend la Verrière, Italian-inspired restaurant.

Delicious salmon and pork dinners. Marscapone cheese dessert was wonderful! Property is picturesque and pretty. Staff is quick and efficient. Largest hotel in town. The only downside is the dim room lighting. Somewhat dark. Otherwise, quite satisfied.

Great hotel… everything was great. They let me check in at 8am no extra charge. Nice pool area and spa as well.

This was a great hotel. The pool & hot tub was nice, and there are 2 restaurants to choose from. We went to the slightly cheaper one (at the end of the hall), and the food was great! The hotel lobby is very nice looking. The room was great too. No complaints!

Mixed about this place. They advertise a pool and slide which is one of the reasons I stayed here. Yet the lifeguard keeps shutting down the slide every odd time for 15 minutes at a time. Pool closes at 22h but they closed the slide at 21:15. I left my coffee cup in the lobby on first morning and it stayed there for 2 days. Their restaurant is always jammed pack and you have to wait for a table. Many other little annoyances. Place looks nice though. Just can't give it a 4 star rating.

A very nice 4 star hotel located near the highway and 2 hours away from Quebec city. There are many fast food places around and a gas station as well. Bonus there is a tesla charging station right at the hotel! Rooms have an old theme but clean and rustic.

Good hotel. Clean, well appointed, with two restaurants on the premises if you don't want to leave the hotel. There's only one elevator, so getting to the upper floors mean a wait. Staff are friendly and professional.

Great location entering Rivière du Loup, courteous staff, fast check-in, clean room, older decorations, good restaurants on site.

We stayed two nights at the Hotel universal de Rivière-du-Loup in the company of peewee hockey team and I enjoyed our stay and I will go back if I have to spend in the corner.

The hotel super nice, very good staff. Insulation for noise… However… we sleep squarely with the other rooms because means all all all very clearly… As if we there was. If you go in the corridor we little know what's being said in the rooms… Zero privacy… The price is excellent.

Clean modern room, great shower with lots of towels in a quiet hotel. The front desk staff are very friendly and professional. This was my tenth or twelfth trip. We try to arrange our trips to stop in the hotel and town. The hotel has a great pool and spa that we didn't use this time but our fully grown children still want to go back to. We will be back in a couple of weeks when we make our return trip.

Another Hôtel Universel that can't help showing its age. Appears to have been expanded three or more times. Rooms in the section I stayed in are small without sufficient space to deal with one's luggage but at least the bathroom was renovated well enough that I could safely put my toothbrush and cup on the counter. However the beds are comfortable enough and there was quite enough well lit parking. Skipped on the high priced breakfast. There was only single, tiny elevator to service hundreds of people in the section (but fortunately the stairs are wide and there are only a few floors), the halls choked by the cleaning staff such that getting through with your luggage becomes feels like rush hour traffic, quaint little cards declaring how much each of the towels and clothes cost with no indication of how many one should expect to find, water in the ice bucket and plastic liquor bottles in the recycle bin. While I might choose this location again I'd rather add a couple hours to my trip leg next time to make it somewhere else.
