Wifi is horrible, nobody can even get connected, and if they manage to get connected they can’t go any further. Don’t advertise free Wi-Fi if u can’t fulfill it.

Comfy beds, good service and awesome food.

The hotel itself was nice and clean. After a long drive from deer lake with 2 friends we arrived late at 11.30 and the check in service was fantastic, she didn’t normally work there and was helping for the evening. After going to the room and changing all we wanted was a cold beer and to relax. The bar said it was open until 12 pm yet when we got to it at 11.45 it was closed! Needless to say my alcoholic friends were NOT impressed as 15 minutes was enough time to have a cold one. Thankfully the front desk lady told us about the local hot spot Ledgends. After a short walk we went and FINALLY had a cold beer, live entertainment and friendly locals. Who closes a bar early on a Saturday night?! Thankfully the hospitality made up for it.

Rooms are clean and convenient but don't include a fridge or a microwave. Internet is very slow. Staff is helpful.

One of the nicer restaurants in Gander. Good service and food. A bit pricier. Pay is done at the front desk afterwards. Overall a nice place to go for dinner.

Wifi stinks can't even log into email, no flavour on the food but the room and hospitality is very good. Really think it's time for them to start upgrading this hotel tho. Even some new paint would be nice and not so dull.

Everything was fine except the washroom was just a sink, no counter, and the hot water took a solid 5 minutes in the shower to actually become hot. I had it turned on full heat and over the course of 5 minutes it very gradually went from lukewarm to hot. Not a big complaint, just a little odd.

Reasonable place to stay, although it's more of a motel than a hotel. Had issues checking in since the front desk people did not read the booking notes that we had a dog, seemed to put them off even though we noted it and called to Confirmed dogs were allowed. The rooms were decent, but very dated, Wi-Fi is super slow so don't expect to receive emails without waiting an hour or so for each to download.

While some reno's where recently done they seemed rush, the place had a dated feel and just didn't seem as clean as most hotels. The food was sub par for a hotel.

It's a good relatively affordable location depending on your expectations, you'll get the basics there. Good place for transit purposes from the airport to your intended destination.

Great clean updated rooms. Restaraunt on site with excellent food and a good menu. Good conference and meeting facilities.

I stayed here 32 years ago, for 2 weeks. Had a great time then. Wonderful people.

Hotel is easily located. Rooms are clean, beds are only full size, sometimes issues with the cable. Restaurant on site food is ok. No bar fridge for the rooms to put items in. Staff is very friendly.

The staff are superb. The rooms are a little dated, but still comfortable. It's always my first choice when staying in Gander.

Great place locationed on highway across the street from beautiful lake, aniation history musuem. Has great restaurant as well and next to several other restaurants, coffee and pastery shops, stores nearby in neighborhood and some nighclubs. Delicious restaurant!

My husband, daughter and myself went there for my birthday supper last evening. We were not impressed at all. It was the worst meal that I have ever eaten in a restaurant. We had steaks. It was dry and had a horrible taste to it, it was like something that had been in the freezer for years. Will not be returning there ever again.

Great location, newer the room the nicer the room, rude front desk, great staff in the restaurant. Alot of renovations going on therefore it is messy in the hallways etc.

Nice staff. Good was good. Needs new carpets for hall way and chairs used for ballroom need to be replaced or recoved. Over all good place to stay.

Overall its not a bad hotel but the Wi-Fi is absolutely garbage, and I mean garbage. Cant even use voice chat its that bad. If you care not for Wi-Fi then by all means come here, but if you are expecting to use Wi-Fi to get you through the night then go somewhere else.

Our family recently booked a private room for our family to celebrate significant milestones in our Parent's lives — Dad's 80th and Mom's 75th birthdays. 25 of us travelled from across Canada at a significant cost for this occasion. Several potential locations were considered when we were deciding where to host the event. We finally settled upon the Albatross as a location where we could possibly get a classy meal in a upscale setting. Boy were we ever in for a shock… to be honest I don't even know how to adequately articulate the share level of disgust we experienced. Although I am well educated and am considered by many to be able to master the English language reasonably well; as I begin to describe our experience I know I will fail to adequately weave adjectives in a manner that fully describes the magnitude of our disappointment. 2 lumps of dry white potato, a few watery and tasteless chunks of carrot, tossed on to plate along with a piece of chicken that never had the benefit of being exposed to even one of the thousands of fine spices available to any amateur chef. The desert was probably prepared at the local Girl Scouts by first year scouts. And too think that we paid $50/each for this amazing experience.

The rooms were nice but nothing fancy. The staff are super friendly, and the restaurant has the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. We were also able to check in at 3am when we landed. Over all it was a nice start to our trip!

The staff was friendly but for the price I was not impressed with the room. Needs an update! Sadly was the only place at this time of year that was the cheapest.

The Albatross Hotel was excellent… a bit pricey than I normally tend to spend in a nights hotel but in the middle of tourist season they were excellent & accommodating even when we needed to book a 2nd night as was not able to make it to our destination of St. John's by evening as lots to do between Gander & Twillingate. The restaurant food & service was also very good.

Not worth the stay. Broken beds. Moldy shower curtains. Breakfast special cost more than a regular meal. Did not get refills on coffee. When we complained they just laughed at us. Horrible place. Should be condemned. It's obvious that no one ever inspects this place.

Liked the place but don't get an East faced room if you want to sleep past 6am in the Spring/Summer. I recommend they invest in black out shades. Sun blasted us at 5:30 am and never got back to sleep.

Kind of dated and a little noisy, but clean and staff is friendly.

The only saving grace of this hotel was the restaurant, the food was delicious, as for the rest stay away, the walls and floors were paper thin (noisy, noisy, noisy) heard every person walking in the hallway and the people above our room sounded like they were in our room, the bathroom had mold on the ceramic tiles in the corners, the switch for the bathroom venting was broken (hence the mold) and last thing was the horrible old beds (felt like they were purchased when the hotel was built) very soft, sagging and noisy so uncomfortable and everytime you turned trying to get comfy the bed would creak and squeek, after requesting another room, none available.

More than ordinary. Like a motel. Good service, but all seems of another time where the economy would have been more successful. Passage only.

Although technically clean and in good repair, the bare and dated room had as much charm as a student dorm. There was also a strong, stale and gross smell that greeted me every time I entered. I’m not sure what to say about breakfast; I ordered the salted cod, and as this was my first time having the dish, I have no frame of reference to judge it with. I personally found it utterly repulsive and could not finish. 6/10.

I found upon arriving the clerk at the desk was extremely rude and when was asked a question she walked away from me as if she did not hear me. When she returned this happened four more times before I got a answer. When I got to my room there were beer bottles lined up the hallway that were still there two days later when I checked out. There is no sound barrier between the walls and ceiling, there was a reception above my room that did not end til 3 in the morning which made it hard for me to get asleep. There were children running up and down the hallways at all hours to the point that I had to open my door and tell them to stop. Your web site states that you have a pool, the only place that I saw to swim was the lake across the highway from the hotel! It was also stated in the binder in the hotel room that you have a exercise room, when I went to look for it, it did not exsist. False Advertising! I suffer from servere alleregies and had to be exposed to dogs running around the lobby, to the point that I had to leave the area because of a reaction. THis is the first and only time that I will stay at this hotel. I also overheard several other guests who were not happy with the service as well.
