Super 8 by Wyndham Moosonee

My sons and I stayed for two nights this past week. The rooms were clean and the staff were extremely responsive. The manager accommodated my diet restrictions for breakfast on the second day (once he was aware of them), and housekeeping staff helped us with extra towels and soap when we needed it. When people mention the shortcomings of the motel, I think they need to bear in mind the significant challenges of obtaining necessary supplies and inventory for this location and the culture of trust and courtesy that we experienced in Moosonee.
Definitely more expensive than other places in the Wyndham chain, but understandable given the unique location and challenges of the environment. Our only negative observation was that the room was humid/musty, but the room itself was great. Kudos to the hardworking staff.

The staff was caring and accommodating. Very friendly people, rooms were clean although there was a musty smell, probably due to how wet it is up here. Room temperature worked great and the breakfast was a good way to start the day.

The Super 8 in Moosonee is a pretty standard budget hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and included a microwave and mini fridge. The breakfast was OK, pretty standard budget hotel fare. The employees were helpful, and they do allow you to leave your bags until the train back to Cochrane arrives. My one complaint is the price; it was triple the price of a similar hotel in Cochrane. While I wouldn’t expect a hotel in an out of the way place like Moosonee to be the same as in a more accessible location, I feel this is excessive and the owners are taking advantage of the fact they have little competition. If I were to go back, I would try to book something with one of the locals who have B&Bs and self catering lodging.

Amazing experience. I’m from Toronto and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Clean rooms. Safe. Good service. Coffee in the morning. Way better than you’d expect for a hotel in Moosonee.

This was the best super 8 i've stayed in bar none. Sevice was amazing, staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Very clean, awesome selection for breakfast. Ten out of ten, would recommend.

The hotel was clean and my room was great with a seating area and laundry. However, when I arrived I was assigned the wrong type of room — not the one I had reserved. It was resolved, but that added a bit of stress to my trip that was not necessary.
I strongly recommend that you bring your own dishes and cutlery because even though there is a microwave and a fridge in your room, there are no dishes and this is pretty important in a town where there are no restaurants and you have to cook/heat up food in your room. It would be nice if the hotel could begin to provide these for its guests given the limitations in the town. There were lots of drawers and cupboards and counter space, and there was a coffee maker in the room.
The breakfast provided each morning was appreciated and adequate even though it was the same every day, but it was disappointing that the hot food (hashbrowns, sausages) is only provided when they have a lot of guests — so if you’re there on a less busy weekend for example, you are out of luck.
Finally, there is rarely anyone at the front desk and when you do need help (for example, you can’t get the ice machine to work) and you buzz and you call, no one ever comes.
The lobby/breakfast area is comfortable and being able to stay there after checking out (and needing to wait the six hours for the train to leave town) was greatly appreciated.

Rooms smell like mildew, linens are cheap and carpets dirty. Rarely service at the front desk, bad breakfast. Enjoy the only hotel in town.

This place is ABOVE AND BEYOND a motel! Everything is so clean and new here! Very spacious! Staff was friendly and attentive! Highly recommend!

The property is clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly. Our room had a fridge and microwave and coffee machine. We knew that there were no restaurants in Town so had brought food to heat in the microwave. The breakfast available was suitable and included some hot items. It was a bit pricey for the night, however given the location and the fact that everything has to be brought to this location by train does impact the cost.

Brand new hotel in the middle of Moosonee, who would have thought… rooms were nice and clean. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Complimentary breakfast was good.

300 a night is ridiculous… like ridiculous.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was soggy un cooked potatoes and soggier hashbrown. Don't count on breakfast to feed you aside from cereal and toast.

NO ELEVATOR and they were painting 1st floor so I had to carry my luggage up the flights of stairs to second floor. If you have a mobility issue, ensure you get a room on first floor. I don’t see how they got away without having one considering the ADA…

Pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Rooms were fine. It’s not a smart tv, but has a HDMI hookup so you can stream from your laptop or bring a dongle.
Wifi is good. Cell service in town is LTE, it’s fine. You can walk here from the train station. No elevator, so if you can’t do stairs, make sure to call ahead and make sure your room will be on the ground floor.
The 24hr coffee is appreciated!
Breakfast was included, simple, but adequate and appreciated.
I recommend bringing your own shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They only have the little individual bottles.
Bring your own food and drinks for meals. It’s expensive here and there is only the grocery store ($$$$$), Pizza Hut and kfc.

This is the only operating hotel in Moosonee. It was quiet and the rooms were adequate. Close walk to the railway station and right across from the main store in town.

The stay was very good, check in and check out was great as well. No complaints. The breakfast was good as well, very clean place. I would recommend this place to stay. Room was clean and had no issues.

Comfortable beds, a breakfast included, and a good amount of lighting — even if there were many other accommodation options in town (and there aren't), this would be a good place to stay. Staff are accommodating and friendly. If you book the suite with a "kitchenette", be advised that you will need to provide your own dish detergent and dishes (although you can get some from the breakfast area). There's also a washer and dryer in the suite — but bring your own laundry detergent! An easy walk to everywhere, and right across from the supermarket, which is a good thing, considering that there are no restaurants in town!

Great, clean and up to date hotel within walking distance of the train station (half a kilometre). Our room was fresh and clean, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast included cereals, oatmeal, toast, bagels, and make-your-own waffles, coffee, tea, apple and orange juice.
A local guide came to the lobby of the hotel shortly after the train arrived to tell us about tour options. It’s easy to get friendly with the locals and other guests in this environment, everyone who arrived on the same train as us immediately felt like a friend. :)
