Had the best burger I ever had in Cambodia. The black bun, the pickles, the juicy patty… it was super and I will say that I if you are a carnivore and crave a real burger Monkey Republic Kampot is the place.

Really nice place to relax and eat some delicious food. The vegan chilli is excellent and the cakes are always great. Lovely atmosphere too.

Highly recommended! Best time we spent in Cambodia was in Kampot — Monkey Republic Hostel. Great Crew and amazing atmosphere are the fundaments of this place. See you again Anna & Jakub.

The crew is really nice and it was a pleasure to stay in this hostel. I really recommend it for a group of friends!

The facilities seem reasonable. The price is about average. The young guy at the reception was short and very rude I will not be staying beyond one night. Staff professionalism can make or break an experience. I've seen nothing professional here.

Overpriced yet still greedy! No hot water, no intimity, breakfast not included, extremely hot room with no AC. For 8$ most hotels would provide these. Not this one. Also we asked for some hot water to fill two cups of tea: they charged it 0.25$ hahaha! You greedy expats.

Stayed for 2 nights in an eight bed dorm. AC and two clean, big ensuite bathrooms. Beds have privacy curtains. There are several different buildings with different rooms, so has a bit of a campus feeling. Unfortunately not all of the photos on Google seem up to date: there aren't that many chill out areas and no hammocks! There is just the (big) bar/restaurant area and two tables outside. The restaurant is affordable and serves good food, their breakfast options are fantastic. Staff speaks very good English and there are some English natives around. What I didn't like personally is the obvious gap between the locals working there and Western employees/volunteers, during my stay the two groups hang out separately behind the bar, and the foreigners seemed to supervise/control the locals (the local bar staff wasn't even aloud to deal with money). I thought this was a bit too obvious. Other than that I can fully recommend this hostel.

Great vibe at monkey in kampot. Restaurant has good food specials and I particularly rated the breakfast foods. Also had several hot and cold Vietnamese coffees because they are so delicious. Can organise tours and transport through hostel although for transport we found the people across the road cheaper. Nice common area both inside and outside with activities e. G. Pool table. The private rooms are nice but absolute hot boxes. Prepare to sweat. Also unfortunately there is a gap on the edge of our door (room 15) so I got annihilated by mosquitoes at night. If A/C was added to these rooms it would be the best place to stay! Staff super helpful and friendly overall and someone has excellent taste in music for the playlist.

Very nice hostel. Great bar and great food. The rooms are very nice. Only complaint being the staff got drunk and shouted at me and I'm not entirely sure why but hey it happens :P.

Very cheap and nice! The owners were extremely nice to me even though I was on bad behavior. Would Definitely recommend. The area is cool too.

Enjoyed our stay here in kampot. Place next door does awesome curry (left side when viewed from the road).

The room was very spartan, but more is not expected at the price. I found the fan too huge and you couldn't adjust it either. However, it is acceptable for a short stay. On request, we also received a second blanket.
A huge compliment for the food and the American atmosphere in the lounge. The pancakes with maple syrup are totally delicious. We also rented scooters on site. Various tours and information material are also available. And of course nice staff:)

Super clean, made of new, spacious and clean private room and water room with a safe. The common areas are great with good music, a very good staff and very good food! I would definitely recommend! (This is western though)

Hostel very well located in Kampot, offering decent and cheap private rooms! The food in the restaurant is good and not expensive. Not so much of a party hostel, but far from being dead. They work with "Bison tours" just across the street, where you can book pretty much anything, including 4$ motorbikes.

Very clean and modern hostel in a quiet environment! The dorms and the sanitary installations are clean and look new. All the beds have curtains and a locker for your back bags. They also have a restaurant where you can enjoy great food and drinks. In front of the hostel is a big garden with many seating possibilities.

Very decent bang for the buck. Wonderfull dorms and beds. Grrat bar and immaculate staff. You can be happy in the bar! One of the best hostels around definately. No warm showers tho. And coffee with milk tasted fishy.

Nice clean dorms, with privacy curtains and big lockers for your bags. Unfortunately the looks for the locker are huge and only big padlocks work (you can buy at the reception). Yummy breakfast. Staff are friendly and can help you organise motorbikes and buses to your next stop. Good location close to the durian roundabout which has lots of street food.

Really good hostel. Definitely worth the money. Can easily overlook the issues considering it offers so many good things. Pros: Water refills are only 1000reil. Really chill bar. Food is super tasty (but a bit pricy). Beds are comfortable, and each have a privacy curtain. Staff are helpful and can organize anything for a decent price. Cons: Our aircon wasn't working very well. Showers are all cold. Wi-Fi is pretty dodge.

The building is quiet new, the bed bunks are comfortable but I didn t like it that ones again I saw the Cambodian cleaners not changing the bed sheets after guests checked out! I have 0tollerance for this lack of hygiene. I wasn't happy as well how the managers assist us after an accident, I asked for legal advice but they offered a translator for 10dollars! Seriously!?! I didn t like it, I stayed in better places where people has been helpful and kindly and not only think at moneys!

It's a really nice guesthouse, especially if you travel alone, since you get the chance to meet other travellers like you. The beds are comfortable with a curtain for privacy. The room (I stayed at the 12 beds dorm, there is also 16 and 8 beds dorms and private rooms) was air conditioned, the bar and restaurant were nice, a little pricy if u r a backpacker on a budget. Only problem was that there is no hot water in the showers, which would have been really nice after a folk day of traveling and returning in the rain, drenched and cold.

Cleaners come in three times a day to dry out the shower which is combined with toilet. We HV two toilet/shower in an 8 bed dorm. The river is 5 mins away, and it is in the middle of town. The staff are friendly and helpful and location perfect. What more could you ask for?

Republic is a guesthouse very clean, AC in the bedrooms and fan in the double rooms. The food is good and hearty. The bar closes quite early, perfect for the befores!

Nice dorms, although big ones. Food prices are a little higher, but you get big portions. No hot water in the dorm showers…

Great hostel. The location is its only downside, a little bit farther from the main area if you do not own a bike. The beds are comfy and have curtains for extra privacy, nice a/c clean rooms. Great food onsite. I took one star off because some people at the staff can be a little rude regarding some requests as a guest, and they demand payment kind of aggressively. Other than that if you like a nice cozy hostel (more for convenience than to meet people and vibes) then make sure to visit when in kampot!

The Monkey Republic Kampot is a cool hostel. Everything is done to make Backpackers feel at home : clean facilities, nice bar with happy hours, serviceable staff. I recommend it!

Dirty, bedding smelt of sweat and had someone come into the hostel from outside and try to take my bag out of my bed whilst I was sleeping. We moved to a private room with no curtains, so the bed was next to the window next to a path people walked down. Food was very good though.

Very affordable dorm beds with curtains (were 1$ cheaper than advertised on some places so they refunded us! ). Clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Chilled out bar section with friendly staff. Close to everything in town and to the dropoff of the minivans.

Good value and location for a short stay. We had a room in the back where the view was a bit messy (in front of the cleaning area), but otherwise, the room was clean. No aircon in the non-dorm rooms and no hot water.

Rooms with fans OK, worth the price. Food is really good, not so expensive. You want to stay in the main room down stairs, the atmosphere is really nice. I felt at home with the perfect music! :) Great location, not far from the market and night market.
