I had great time there at 2019 new year. Really friendly stuffs and atmosphere. If someone put negative comment about the hostel, probably they are not open minded or not real travelers. Of course, this hostel should improve something but you should not compare them with any hotel. Thanks again all. I hope one day I will come and stay at your hostel.

PONTOS NEGATIVOS A SEREM MELHORADOS (alguns, absurdos) : — Cozinha fechando 20h. Absurdo. Nunca vi isso em hostel algum… Mesmo porque, 20h os hóspedes sequer chegaram da rua. Não consegui sequer ferver uma água depois dessa hora. Até para pegar água, um vigilante (o mais novo deles) demonstrou enorme má vontade para abrir a cozinha. Escassez de utensílios e talheres ou muito desgastados. — Toalhas e lençóis surrados e, em muitos casos, manchadas e remendados, quando não apresentam pequenos rasgos. Vi vários nessa situação e não foi algo pontual. — Café da manhã (pago a parte R$15) propositalmente racionado. Funcionários impedidos de fazer uma vitamina, por exemplo. — Os ocupantes dos quartos não terem liberdade de usar o ar condicionado, pois, não tem acesso ao controle, sendo necessário levantar da cama e ir até a recepção para isso. — Beliches e armários de aço, enferrujados e muito barulhentos. — Venda de cadeado ao invés de empréstimo ou locação — Locação de cobertor. No caso, me alugaram uma manta surrada, super fina e curta (talvez infantil de tão curta) — Funcionários sobre pressão, comentando até de revistas ao saírem do trabalho e de assédio moral. — Limpeza dos banheiros não muito bem feita, provavelmente devido ao acesso de trabalho dos funcionários ou não orientação correta. — Uso de inglês para confirmação da reserva de brasileiros e nos demais meios de contato.

Very cool and above all very safe location. It is even checked on the way to the district and there is a security man on site all night long. But more importantly, the district of Rio is safe — I think! Of course, you always have to pay attention to the valuables, but you also have to do that in a small town in Germany. The staff is super nice and the hostel has a modern and youthful style. The only small minus point is that the rooms are very different and deviate from the standard. But I can highly recommend it for a short trip.

When I found the option of Cabana Copa Hostel on Trip Advisor said free breakfast included. When they arrived they told me it was not like that. Otherwise… It was good. Although the bathroom was very poor.

Rooms are nice. Good location. The hostel policies are annoying: kitchen open only from 2-9pm and dirty, need to sign a paper to use it. Wifi does not work good upstairs.

Although the place looked clean and comfortable in a general view, in the room there was a urine smell all over, not in the bathroom but in the room itself. I highly recommend to clean the air conditioning filter which seemed to be the source of the problem.

All very good, good service and all the hotel works well and very pleasant to share stay there, there is only one small inconvenience with the air conditioning, outside of that all very well.

Great location. Basic amenities like good Wi-Fi, bar and electricity sockets. The hostel provides lots of information on local bars and parties and can also help with arranging airport transfers and city tours etc.

My stay was 10 days. The rooms of the hostel are clean and neat, the bathrooms are neat, however, it is not a toilet every day and I saw hair in the tub and sink for several days during my stay. I didn't like the handling they give to the kitchen, you can only concinar from 2 to 9 pm, time when one is walking around the city, and sometimes arrived at 8:40 pm and at the reception said that was "damaged the stove" so that not we used. The kitchen is not neat, has unpleasant smells and does not have ventilation. I felt that with this schedule I was forced to buy them breakfast or it had to be a cold and prepared breakfast the day before.

The kitchen was ruined and they never fixed it, when they asked to offer us some alternative solution they just said they couldn't do anything. The air conditioner can only regulate them and have to accompany you to the piece to raise or lower the temperature, others deactivate between 10 am and 8pm. My piece had a leak that no one cared about. The kitchen full of was flies, fat and very dirty. Very little staff for the amount of people who run the hostel. Entrance Hall very dirty, one person left garbage in the morning and it was not cleaned all day.

The stay was good, the neighborhood safe and close to everything. I could improve the reception Q did not speak Spanish and I Portuguese and it made it difficult to communicate. And Rest was positive.

Had the worse experience here. The front desk service was very slow every time: at check in (took 40 minites) and checkout (still took 40 minutes even though it was done right at 8am, when the “office” opens), the breakfast vouchers took a long time too, and then there’s a line up for breakfast. When finally a room was assigned, I was told there were no more bed sheets for the night, what? I precooked the room months in advance! The key card was only working half of the time and to get into the room without one was also a long wait. The rooms are very hot during the day because AC doesn’t go on until 8pm BUT the last night there my room’s AC didn’t turn on. Not a great visit for me. Very frustrating.

It has very good beds and cleanliness. It was a bit irritating that you couldn't use the kitchen more freely. The microwave was very old and broke. The Wifi connection is quite unstable. Perfect location.

Worst hostel we’ve stayed in the last three months. I don’t want to be someone that whinges but I just want to help other people not make bad decisions. Book somewhere else. I wish I had of read all the negative reviews to begin with. Normally If I don’t have anything nice to say I say nothing at all. But in this case it had to be said.
Hostels are meant to make you feel at home and this place doesn’t make you feel at home at all. I’m pretty sure the owner just sees the pla…ce as a cash cow and doesn’t care about the guests at all.
Really blunt staff although one girl is really nice I think her name was Louise. I feel bad for the good staff.
Badly organised rooms.
Constantly kicking people out and moving them around.
We booked a 4 bed dorm. Ended up in a 5 bedroom.
Didn’t have sheets until 8 pm that night.
We weren’t allowed to check in until 2pm even though our room was empty. We where clearly exhausted from travelling, falling asleep on the couch in the common room.
Terrible kitchen with actual usage hours!
It’s meant to be quiet after 1130 but people are carrying on until 2-3 in the morning.
Card keys for the doors didn’t work.
And both nights they brought in other guests to our room at 1130 and switched the light on. It’s just very poorly run.
Sorry for the negativity. There where some positives. The showers where semi warm and the air cons where cold at night it wasn’t all bad!

It hino one of the worse hostel of my live, and probably the worst. When I arrived, they gave me the bed of another tourist, you cannot take alcohol in the hostel and can buy from them just until 22:30 for a unreasonable price, the Wi-Fi does not work at all and to enter in the nighttime you have to show a very ugly yellow paper bracelet they give you during the check-in, that mark your skin when you're on the beach.
In the end, in every room there is an automatic air condition (I don't know how translate in English ar condicionato) and you cannot turn it off or on, so I get sick because it worked all the night long.
I'm sorry for leaving this bad comment, but I hope that the staff will provide to improve the quality of this hostel because it is in a very good position, is so big and look nice and clean.

The rooms are okay, not great, but comfortable. But you are there for Rio, and the hostel is really well located. The hostel propose some party in different areas of the city, which is nice. There is a little bar, handy to drink a caipirinha!

I definitely would not recommend this hostel. The cleanliness and facilities are poor. Clearly there is no maintenance or building renovation. In addition, management is disorganized and has proved incompetent. I had problems with the room access card every day as it demagnetizes after two times of use. The worst of the moments was when we arrived after Rock in Rio, about 5:30 am, and the card had demagnetized. It happens that the reception only opens at 8am and the only person responsible for the hostel at the time was the security man, who had no idea how to reactivate the card. The night before, the master card, which opened all the doors, was gone. The security man reported that there was nothing to be done but to wait, and he refused to contact the management, which he said was already aware of the situation. In the end, we had to wait until 7:30, about 15 people feeling cold and sleepy.

A good Hostel with a great location, only 5 minutes walk from CopaCabana beach. Great staff as well, always helpful and sociable. They always have some sort of event going on 7 days a week, so if you want to go out partying then this is a great hostel for that. The only thing I didn't like was the fact they supply you with lockers but no lock and keys?! You need to buy them separately, but the price is only 15 reais, which isn't a lot in English pounds, but lockers should obviously come with keys and padlocks free of charge. All in all though, great hostel, would stay there again and would recommend it too others.

The owner is rude and not helpful. The hotel charges an absurd price of 50 real for a load of laundry. My roommate and I paid the amount and found our clothes not fully dried at the end of the cycle. Instead of allowing us to use the dryer again, they told us to hang dry our clothes. Even after 48 hours outside they were still not dry. They also did not give me the promised 10 real back when I returned my keycard. Finally, do not be fooled by the high rating on trip advisor. They give hostel stayers a free drink if you rate them 5 stars. One upside is that the rooms are cleaned frequently.

This is a really good location & friendly staff (the kitchen & cleaning staff work amazingly hard and do a good job! ) and the facilities are good. The 2nd shower in the shared female bathroom had a broken shower head and the door lock was broken. I was in the hostel for 3 weeks and this was not addressed but the maintenance man repainted part of an outdoor wall (the top). I thought the shower should have been a higher priority. Lots of people to meet and plenty of events being promoted at reception. Downside is that it does attract some who like to imbibe in alcohol a little too much or other substances leading to disruptive behaviour (I checked out early cause of a sleepless night related to this). Overall I would recommend this hostel but be warned that you occasionally get such people in these places.

Initially when we came into the hostel we did not have a good welcoming experience. The room we were put in was in the basement, smelt like mold, had no lockers and were told we had to share two washrooms with various rooms. We also had to pay for all of our days there before we began our stay. I asked the girls at the front desk what would happen if we decide to leave a few days early and they merely said we would lose all of our money giving us no option. Once we saw the condition that our room was in and complained about it politely, the lady in the front desk tried to argue with me about what room we booked. I had to show her the booking various times to prove to her that we booked a room with a locker in it. We then were given the option to pay more to move to a room upstairs. I believe she was going back and forth with the owner that was sitting down on the computer who did not seem to have a care in the world. Once we met the people that work in the afternoon/ evening our stay got a little better. They are all so welcoming and nice. A lot of people in the Hostel had the same review about the day employees and the owner. We would all just wait until night time to ask any questions we may have and actually be well taken care of. Just unfortunate customer service after a great trip of 3 weeks in amazing hostels.

No one knows how they got 4 stars, maybe it was better before
Worst breakfast ever, the Wi-Fi doesn't work in the bedrooms, the common area is too small for the amount of people in the hostel and it doesn't really have a kitchen 'cause you can never use it and when you do you can only use it till 9pm, or they cut off the gas no matter if you're still cooking
Half of the staff make you feel like you're at the bank and you can't even drink a beer of your own after they stop selling it (which is at 10.30 pm…)
You can still have a great time 'cause you are in rio, but if you're looking for a good hostel, keep looking!

It's a very good option, economic, comfortable and also has an excelent environment, is close to a metro station and is so close to copacabana beach; the staff is really cool.

This hostel is really good, stuff is friendly and the location is awesome.

They charge for the use of blankets, which sucks if you come here in the winter time. The 6 bed dorm is fairly spacious and nice except it smelled like someone peed behind the door and it wasn't cleaned up enough. Quiet, as it is away from the main road. Good location. They won't give you the Wi-Fi password until check-in time which seemed unusual.

Nice place, nice crew. Great rooms and beds but bathroom not that clean. Bar closes at 11pm and doesn't offer too much. Breakfast is okay. High security level.

I'd have to give 1 star if not for its localization. * dirty rooms with mold on the walls and ceiling, * only between 1 and 3 bathrooms available to whole hostel depending on day and time of each day, * little to none customer service.

Dirty, and Very Bad treatment to Guests. Rooms are too small and Breakfast is weird and very bad as well. Very Noisy at night too.

Simple and plain. But for young people with ambition just Right. Is located close to the Copacabana beach, sugar loaf mountain and the Christ Statue, it is also not far. Highly recommended.

I do not recommend this place. The owner is extremely disrespectful and rude. I have seen as abusive to their employees and to other guests. The breakfast have not much variety. I spent a little time there, fortunately I found far better choices for better prices.

I've been there twice. There is a subway station close to this hostel and it is in the heart of Copacabana. Also a good market close, fast food restaurant and bike rentals. The hostel has a good space and it is clean. Good TV room and a bar. I usually stay there because of the good location and price.
