We’ve stayed there for 3 nights in the TopFloor Suite in which we experienced THE WORST NIGHT EVER!
But let’s take things from the beginning! We arrived and our room was not ready for some reason at the bespike time. So we waited until 16:30 to go in! No welcome drink as advertised but we payed for 2 cocktails that we’ve had while waiting!
Upon entering the room we noticed that the floors were disgustingly dirty, you could tell that no one had vacuumed the room for the past 1-2 weeks at least and while trying to wash our hands using the bathroom sink, some kind of dirt came from the drain! So we called the supervisor and he fixed it. But he fixed it the next day, so whenever we wanted to wash ourselves we had to smell/see dirt coming up from the drain!
And now to our last morning : When we woke up on our last morning I saw that over the living room table and through the led lights above the table there was water dripping making soaking wet all our belongings (passports / money / personal bag / earphones / caps). So we called the reception asking for the hotel manager! First came the supervisor! Then the housekeeping! Then at last the hotel manager, who promised us some kind of compensation for our destroyed earphones and wet things! Which NEVER HAPPENED! He promised us also an email with their offer regarding our destroyed things and again, that did not happen as well! Disgusting room, unprofessional behavior!

Great location on Copocabana Beach. Rooftop plunge pool, sunbeds, bar and cafe. Rooms extremely comfortable and wonderful staff.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The staff were so friendly and helpful and Carlos the waiter always went the extra mile and made us feel important at breakfast, by the pool bar and restaurant. Looking at all the other hotels on the Copacabana we realised we made the right choice. The rooftop pool area looked out over Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf! Amazing views. Perfect! Thank you x.

Absolutely wonderful stay! We had 6 nights with a sea view on the 12th floor and it was beautiful and clean, the view was stunning and the food was fresh and tasty! The staff are superb! Carlos in the restaurant was fantastic with us and the baby-Jack! The roof top bar and pool have the best views of copacabanna! Very safe at night as staff are in the main entrance! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Initially planned to stay only one night but loved it so much we stayed for three. Great location and hosts, and the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had. A must stay for anyone on a budget but still wanting to experience the grandneur of Copacabana.

I visited the PortoBay last month. I loved it. All the staff were as friendly and helpful as could be. Can't beat the location, right across the street from Copacabana Beach. Had breakfast and dinner in the La Finestra restaurant — everything was great. And the rooftop pool and bar was really special. I spent a lot of time up there, just staring at the uncommon, unbelievable beauty of Rio.

Great location, right on the beach, close to restaurants and shops. Rooms are very clean and modern. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Staff make you feel very welcome and endeavour to meet your every need. Almost all of them speak English and everyone Greets you with a welcome smile. Special acknowledgement to the concierge team — the best I’ve had in Brazil. :) I would definitely recommend this hotel and certainly would stay again if I’m in Rio.

Absolutely loved the rooftop deck and pool. I would 1000x stay here again if I em the opportunity and try and enjoy all the amenities. Unfortunately my stay was only a night for work. Great location on Copacabana beach. Staff was super welcoming and helpful.

I personally didn't stay at this hotel, but we had our parents stay here for their 50th wedding anniversary. I wanted to do something special on top of it all and I can't express how delightful it was dealing with the guest relations Ms. Isabela Guedes. This woman went above and beyond my expectations and helped me plan an incredible surprise for my parents! All via emails and messanger. She was top notch and deserves so much credit! I wish more people were like her! Thank you Isabela and Portobay hotel for everything you did during my parents stay. I'd love to have the same experience the day I personally stay there! Much thanks from way up north in Canada. Obrigado!

Very good hotel. Excellent beach service. The area is quiet, on the edge with Leme. The room was clean and the breakfast was very good. Excellent breakfast!

A very nice hotel. The comfortable rooms, the rich breakfast and the top floor reserve a beautiful terrace with swimming pool. The life of the fitness room is also worth a visit.

Nice hotel in a really nice spot… close to the beach. Pool upstairs is small but you're not staying at the beach to swim in the pool. Room clean, good views, great staff and the bed was spot on!

Excellent location It gives you your own mobility if you want. Although the room is not exactly in front of the beach, equally from the balcony you can appreciate the same.

The view at the rooftop pool and bar is amazing… almost 360° view of Copacabana… service was top class and room view is just as good… recommend to stay here anytime you come to Copacabana.

A disaster, I was missing 400 dollars from the safe inside the room, the hotel did not take care of anything, the day I missed money asking explanations and told me that they had entered three people, cleaning, mini bar and an electrician, who asked why I came if FUN CIONABA all good, and the manager did not know to answer because I enter my room. They lied to me telling me that the employees who entered my room are trustworthy and work 10 years ago with them, I noticed the cruzarmelos down the aisle because they should be between 20 and 25 years, impossible to work 10 years ago, are a few without shame and Liars. I will never return to a hotel Portobay not recommend.

We don't like it. Expensive for the hotel's attention, we find that there are many much better options for less or the same silver.

Clean friendly hotel situated on Copacabana beach. Very good pool area situated on the 20th floor giving you views of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountain.

The facility inside are mostly no good, TV don't work, air con isn't work caused Rio is hot but the room is warm. No luggage holder. No drinking water. The service desk won't automatically contact customer even who raised the problem!

The receptionists, leave much to be desired.
The rooms (even the so-called "luxury" 2000. — real per night) tiny, the view for Copacabana beach cut by a huge post; Windows hugely dirty (full of traces of hands and fingers) The swimming pool (made the size of a bathtub) ;
The rooms (both to be cleaned) were quickly swept away to hide the dirt… The bathroom linens also forgot… a lot of waiting for the lift…
Porto Bay to Rio It's more like a 2 star hotel than 4.
Can be in America a 4 star hotel worth a 2 star in Europe…

We had a suite. Very nicely decorated and roomy. Great ocean view. Friendly service. Nice restaurant on 5th floor and lunch area near pool on 20th floor.

The management of the reception is bad and does not make responsible for the violent tenants… I had to change rooms because the neighbor was drunk and I hit the door.

Wonderful alternative — you get a beach facing room as opposed to staying at regular room with no view at a 5 star at copacabana Beach for the same price. The rooftop pool and gym are insane. You get a view of the beach, mountains and the christ Redeemer in 1 frame. Priceless sunset view (second only to the sunset at sugar loaf). Super breakfast spread with mimosas too! Right across the beach with free beach chairs and umbrellas. The staff, the service, better than most 5stars I've stayed at across the world. Special shout out and thanks to Saasha and Tiago who took care of every small detail, safety and were super accommodating which means I'd go back there if I ever had to and that's the reason I'm even posting and telling you it's a no Brainer if copacabana is where you plan to be. More than bang for your buck.

Pro: location, staff was very friendly, views from top floors was beautiful at all time of day Con: Gym was 31.5 (88.7) degrees! AC never got colder than 22.5, only 3 super small elevators that took forever.

In love with this place. Fantastic view of Copacabana's coast from the rooftop terrace-bar-pool. It also has gym and sauna. The location is good for visiting zona Sul. Also good attention.

Great hotel, great rooms, excellent location. Fantastic ocean views of the beach. Can see Christ the Redeemer from the 20th floor bar. It's 4 stars because only one lift was working during our stay. This was a nuisance in the morning when everyone is using the lifts.

I have been there before and when I came back I have been extremely disappointed. The standard was low, the room was dirty, the staff was freak and the prices too right. I hope they can become better.

1 week into a 2 week stay and gotta say this hotel and particularly ALL it's staff are amazing. All have a smile and are only too willing to help. Breakfast is lovely (attentive, caring and friendly staff). Reception staff (efficient, friendly and charming). Pool bar staff (a delight to be with and very knowledgable). Porters and lobby assistants (soooo friendly, polite and helpful). Lady's who maintain our rooms (kept very clean and honest lady who is lovely also).
Food is great, be it restaraunt room service or pool bar. Room is fabulously comfy and large with amazing views of whole Copa sea front. Only got 1 gripe. Hotel would benefit from installing double glazed units for sound disturbance as sea noise and people noise can be present, but don't let it stop you as it's a fabulous stay. Special thanks to the wonderful Isabela Guedes & Nish Kapur. A real credit to their employers and their profession as are all the staff. Thank you x.

Definitively a very good hotel. Incredible view. Nice location in front of Copacabana beach. Modern. Clean. Very pleasant rooftop with decent pool to relax (but not to swim). Amazing breakfast especially for fruit (12 kinds) and juice lovers (5 or 6 kinds). Great service. Symathic smiling staff. Metro station nearby. Small balcony (to avoid with kids I think). My room 1608 with partial view on the beach+Corcovado. Out of season for single travellers I recommand to stay in Copacabana rather than in Ipanema.

Avery nice, comfortable hotel. Wonderful location in Rio. It is right on Copacabana beach. The hotel provides flip-flops, lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels. The air conditioning was a bit weak, but the facilities were more than adequate. The buffet breakfast was quite good, with hot coffee and warmed milk brought to the table often. The roof top bar and pool were very nice with a marvelous view.

If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site Excellent hotel to spend vacation at, with attention to detail, excellent customer service, beautiful views from panoramic rooms and outstanding breakfast selection. It's location is best suited for all Adults, wouldn't advice if you have young children though as when leaving the hotel at evenings nights there is a gathering of sex workers at the bar/restaurant a few doors down. You won't be disappointed with Porto Bay Rio.
