Excellent hostel, beautiful, very clean and very cool staff.

It was very noisy, the had a band playing at night till 1am. Didn’t know this and then went out on a boat and was lied to… said do they play loud music also. NO they said and they played very loud music on the boat. Not a good place to stay…

Only one shower and toilet for 10 in a dorm, slightly not enough. Indeed a Good place to stay in Paraty.

Great place to rest, have a drink or arrange excursions. It is well located and has spaces for all Tastes.

The bathroom was a little smelly and unclean and the dorms could do with a freshen up, everything was a bit tired looking inside. Good free breakfast, Wi-Fi didn't work for the 3 days we were there and the kitchen is very small and basic.

That's great! would go again. I really liked the style of the attention.
The rooms are very comfortable. The attention is good and what they offer also. They tend to have artistic numbers and make parties inside the Hostel.
The kitchen is complete with all the utensils.
Breakfast is very good.
You can pay in advance or pay in place depending on the availability of rooms.

Great atmosphere, we met a lot of cool people, but the humidity in the room was crazy and the smell that went with it made us feel unclean during our stay.

Great hostel. Rooms are well air conditioned and the included breakfast is one of the better ones I've had in Brazil. 100% recommend the boat trip the they offer.

We had a great time at the Che lagarto of party! The staff is friendly, and tris to help you as much as they can. We had some little ants in a bed when we arrived, but the problem was solved. Also, there really is a nice atmosphere at night!

Little predisposition on the part of the staff. Very loud music all day long towards very difficult to relax and sleep. One day we didn't want to give towels on the grounds that the place was crowded. We paid a tranfer for Ilha Grande and they never booked it for us. They were excused saying that the combi had broken down on the road and when the next one arrived (4 hours later) The driver told us that it was a lie, that he had not been booked. They made us waste time on our long-awaited vacations and did not receive apologies of any kind. In the only tour that offer the guide is spent taking Caipirinha, talking to girls and sleeping. He could never tell us what beaches we were in. I don't recommend it at all.

Excellent place very good ambiance. Attention to the public excellent. Of all the che lagarto visit far the best. Totally recommended.

Nice hostal, clean, and good for travelers. Hostal genial, limpio, y con muy buen ambiente.

Very welcoming and the staff spoke good English. We got a private two bed room, our stay included breakfast which was very typical of the area so it featured cake, cereal, scrambled eggs and bread. The hostel can book you on jeep tours of the area or boat excursions. They have a bar and kitchen and a small swimming pool. Would happily stay here again if I ever came back to Paraty.

Well located, small rooms but comfortable, cheap, offers walks, a lot of noise at night, especially for young people.

Having lost my debit card, I ran out of cash and had problems with western union while staying at che lagarto. One of the members of staff lent me money, let me have lunch with the staff, let me pay later and even came with me to the bank on his day off to help. That's some customer service. Also, I've stayed in probably more than 20 hostels which serve breakfast and the breakfast here was the best.

Nice hotel for one night and discover the city of Paraty. Warm welcome and in French!
Prefer the superior double rooms as they are across the street and much quieter.
Festive atmosphere and young, it reminded me of my vacation in camp!
The big highlight is the location of this hotel, as it is less than 5 minutes walk from the historic city centre.
Correct rooms, average bed comfort, small bathroom, fairly average breakfast not much choice.

Nice hostel just next to the city. small swimming pool (when we've been there was not so clean), free Wi-Fi (slow), hammock and monkeys! Rooms were ok and with air-conditioning, bathroom not so well furnished. Paraty city center has it's own charm of a colonial city with it's portuguese baroque style, just amazing.

Che Lagarto simply overbooked my bed. They had 12+ hours to cancel it or at least warn me, but nothing happened… Only when I arrived, late at night on Friday, I found out that I would have to leave on Saturday. I cannot recommend this hostel to anyone, as they are not reliable at all. I booked from hostelworld and Che Lagarto didn't honor it. Keep away from it and you will have an amazing time in Paraty. :)

Excellent location, good service, acomodocacion double rooms are small but sufficient, although the price is high. The air conditioning in the rooms is too loud, the bathrooms are too small. Overall experience is good.

Nice bar and well situated, they even have monkeys that come and feed. However drinks are a bit expensive and hotel itself tries to be a bit too classic backpackers with colourful yet unispired motivational quotes on the walls.

I was at Che Lagarto in April 2011 and I recommend it because it is very nice, the service is excellent, the breakfasts as well as great excursions. I take this opportunity to greet the staff, which is very atencioso and hope to return soon.

I have been to Brazil twice in the past two years and each time I have stayed at the Che Lagarto hostels. This past visit I decided to visit Paraty and try out the newest edition to the Che Lagarto Hostels and I am so happy I did! Paraty is a gorgeous town full of history and natural beauty so it would have been hard to not have a good time although I think staying at Che Lagarto made my stay ten times better! The hostel is very clean and quaint and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I speak very little portuguese so it was comforting to know the staff would be able to understand me and help me with my questions. Not only did they help, they would go above an beyond each day to make sure I was comfortable and having a good time. The hostel has a small pool and there was live music and drinks at night. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I look forward to my next visit with Che Lagarto.
