Earlier known as the Taj Pemako the hotel is very beautiful and huge. The restaurant is very huge and has variety of menu. I had the local Bhutanize cusine of Ema Datshi. A dish made with chilly and cheese is an awesome 👌 thing to have and a must have. Very warm staff greets you and helps you in getting the right food.

Our stay at Pemako Thimphu was truly exceptional and memorable in every possible way. The team was gracious enough to upgrade us to a beautiful suite, and from that moment onward, the warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail stood out throughout our stay.
What made this experience even more special was the way the restaurant team handled our extremely specific and complex food requirements. We were two Indian vegetarian families, one Jain family and one non-Jain vegetarian family, which naturally required very careful understanding, customization, and consistency in preparation.
A very special mention for Chef Shivam, who was absolutely outstanding. His patience, understanding of our dietary preferences, quality of execution, taste, presentation, and personal involvement were simply world class. It is rare to come across someone who not only understands such nuanced requirements but delivers them with such sincerity, precision, and warmth every single time.
Having travelled across many countries and experienced hospitality at different luxury properties, we can genuinely say this experience at Pemako Thimphu was unique and heartwarming. The entire staff made us feel cared for, respected, and completely at home.

We stayed in a beautifully appointed 1 bedroom suite. They thought of everything including heated floors in the bathroom. The staff was very helpful. And we enjoyed both restaurants.

Beautiful hotel right in the center of Thimphu! We visited in the off season so we basically had the entire hotel to ourselves! All the amenities you could want are at this hotel. We also were treated to a blessing by a Llama upon arrivals and provided an opportunity to wear some traditional clothing and be welcomed with some traditional dances!

Service at Pemako Thimphu is outstanding. The staff are professional, courteous, and genuinely warm, always ready to assist with a smile. From front desk to housekeeping and restaurant staff, the level of hospitality consistently meets high international standards while retaining a distinct Bhutanese warmth.
The dining experience is another highlight. The restaurants offer a fine selection of Bhutanese, Asian, and international cuisine, all prepared with high-quality ingredients and excellent presentation. Breakfast is especially enjoyable, with a good variety and attentive service.
The hotel’s wellness facilities, including the spa and fitness areas, provide a perfect space to unwind after a day of exploring Thimphu. The overall atmosphere encourages relaxation, comfort, and peace.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We were warmely welcomed with the customary white robe and welcome drink and the next 2 days that we stayed there the experience from restaurant to gym to the games and culturals organized each were carefully curated and personalized for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pemako is a beautiful property. The building is stunning and the remodeled rooms are genuinely impressive. The design and comfort make a great first impression. The problem is that the experience does not match the price. The food is very mediocre and the half pension option is not worth it at all. It is a subpar buffet and it pulls the whole stay down. With better dining, the place could live up to its setting, but right now it falls short of what you expect for the cost.

Walking distance from the centre of Thimphu. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Food was excellent: they have a buffet and separate restaurant with 3 set menu options. Whether this is included depends on your package. Evening cultural show well worth seeing and there is the option to dress in local clothing for the evening.

The staff is great and well trained. It is always wonderful when the team is run well. The chef came out for dinners and was very helpful. Some renovations are underway and that is always a good sigh of a successful property.

Allegedly this is a 5 star hotel. Extremely dated rooms, no soundproofing, subpar food offering (breakfast and dinner) and Wi-Fi doesn’t work anywhere. Only positives were the staff and location. Overall feels like a rip off esp considering it’s no longer managed by the Taj Group. I’d 100% suggest staying elsewhere (IHCL and Le Med are close by).

This hotel is expensive and not worth it. We wanted to stay here because it was a beautiful property in the photos. We complained about things and they upgraded us to a suite which was significantly better but still inherently a lot of problems with the property. These are some of the issues we found.
— The rooms are dated (floors creak, sliding doors keep bumping into each other)
— construction noise was unbearable during the day. We informed them and they said they would stop. It did not.
— Breakfast offerings seem to reduce everyday. Day 1 — buffet offerings + pastries + hot menu, day 2 — pastries + hot food, day 3 — only hot food.
— restaurant food was very average — avoid the half board option if you can. Food was extremely under seasoned and almost tasteless.
The only thing that I would say was good about the hotel was the service. The staff are really really nice.
All in all, I’d say stay at Le meridien or IHCL which are cheaper but probably more value for money.

Pemako has a quiet corner in the busy Thimphu with every details carefully crafted. We stayed two nights there, the hospitality was very warm and detail-oriented.
They always try their best to help. We enjoyed our stay there! It’s highly recommended hotel in Thimphu.

We didn't stay at the hotel but had dinner at Chig Ja Gye, which Google lists as PERMANENTLY CLOSED. They are not and the restaurant is great. Here is our review.
My friend and I had dinner last night at Chig Ja Gye in the Pemako Hotel. The Pemako took over from what used to be the Taj Tashi and everything is as good or better and certainly in the restaurants and bar. We started the evening at the bar having a drink. The bartender Tshering Lhendup was a lot of fun and makes a martini that would satisfy even the fussiest martini drinker… me. He was ably assisted by Leki Wangmo Gurung also engaging and helpful.
At dinner we had the degustation with the most courses as we were hungry and while all three degustation choices looked great this one really stood out. We had no idea what we were in for. Over the next two hours we were treated to an extraordinary display of creativity in food and execution of service. First off make sure you are really hungry because the courses just keep on coming. There are seven courses but there are often 2-3 parts of each course. It was amazing. We enjoyed every single bite and when you are tasting maybe 15 different dishes there is always one or two that are ok but not great. Not here.
Our thanks and admiration to Chef Richen Wangmo for her creativity and mix of extraordinarily complimentary ingredients and flavours. And last but not least many thanks to Kishor Sunmar who was a fantastically engaging and professional server.

It's a delightful place to stay in Thimpu. The whole place reeks of understated elegance and Luxury.
The staff is trained well and are extremely hospitable. Kuenzang and Subhash were very helpful. The staff at breakfast was also very attentive.
The rooms and bathrooms are well appointed. The linens are excellent.
We were welcomed with a traditional Buddhist blessing and in the evening given the traditional Bhutanese dress to wear and witness a cultural program.
The breakfast spread was lavish and we enjoyed the puris and dosas.

I had a wonderful stay at Pemako Hotel. The property is beautiful, and the service was outstanding, especially Padma and Payal at reception, who made check-in and check-out seamless. We even received a special blessing from a monk, which added a lovely touch. I was grateful for a complimentary room upgrade, and we thoroughly enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi. The food was delicious, and the evening cultural program with a bonfire was fantastic. Unique features like the complimentary minibar and herbal water options made our stay even more memorable. Overall, an exceptional experience!
