Zhingkham Resort

Zhingkham really lives up to its name—the view of the Punakha Dzong and the winding river from our balcony was pure magic. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit with a cup of tea and stare at the valley for hours.
Fair warning: be prepared for a real leg workout! The resort is built into a steep hill, so we were up and down the stairs quite a bit to get to our room and the restaurant. The rooms themselves have a lovely, rustic Bhutanese charm with all the woodwork, though they do feel a bit aged. The lighting was quite dim, which made it feel cozy but a bit hard to see at times—a few brighter lamps would go a long way.
What made it special, though, was the staff. They are incredibly warm and humble, always greeting us with a genuine smile despite how much running around they have to do on those same stairs! While the property could use a little bit of a modern glow-up (and maybe better lighting), the combination of the Dzong and river view and the kind people made it a very memorable stay.

Nice hotel at top of the old capital, stunning views of the punakha Zhong from here,
The water bottles in the Resturant is refilled bottles of filtered water, please request for mineral water bottle if needed.

Good spacious room with amazing views from sit out. Dzong can be seen from the resort.
Resort is well maintained, neat and clean. Toiletaries were provided.
Food spread was sufficient but not very large. They had additional indian items in all meals which was served in table. In most of indian items too much of termeric was used.
Lots of steps to climb. Some road maintenance work is going on restricting entry and exit timings. If you are going in next one or two months enquire with the hotel if these restrictions are still in place.

Heaven turned prison when the prime location of the hotel where you can see the Punakha Dzong from above, traps you inside when the rain causes landslides and we cannot go anywhere.
Good Wifi internet though. Moderate food.

One huge thing to remember about this hotel — location! Overlooking the Punakha Dzong. You could spend 2 days watching that view and the whole valley.
Overall the hotel is nice. Staff is friendly and rooms are decent. Everything works.

This resort is located on top of a hill with great view to Punaka town and Punaka river. Excellent rooms and couteous staff. Only difficult with our group (all senior citizens) was the steps to reach the restaurant and to reception.
I loved the place.

The hotel is located up a steep hill which provides a beautiful view of the valley and the Punakha Dzong. This is especially beautiful at night when it is all lit up. The property itself is not the highest in design or construction… lacking in the Bhutanese style. Relatively nondescript. But the view makes up for its faults. However this can also be a disadvantage since the walk up the hill is an exercise in itself.

The stay was very good and the location is also very good, it offers amazing view.
However the restaurant service was way below the mark. We ordered our dinner at the restaurant which was amazing and delicious. Hence we ordered more of same dishes. The time was around 8:50 PM and apparently the chefs were in hurry to finish the shift by 9, so they gave the additional order without any real cooking, the dal was water mixed with spices, the jeera aloo even did not have proper jeera or even salt. We left the restaurant highly disappointed and with half full stomach. Did not expect this kind of service.

It's main selling point is the view day or night over the town and valley. The downside means that it is quite a steep walk to and from the town. Some quests struggled with the steps if their room was a further 2 or 3 levels up from reception. The room itself was large with a king size bed, a/c, tea & coffee, TV, very strong shower (in a modern bathroom) and a balcony to sit and watch the lights come on at sunset. Dinner was buffet style (you could order al a carte but make sure the hotel knows this beforehand as it can be a long wait for you food otherwise), breakfast was a simple affair.

Million Dollar View! Zhingkam Resort overlooks the Punakha Dzong and it's spectacular even at night. The hotel staff are super strong — carrying our 30kg luggage to our rooms. The dinner buffet and breakfast is nice and nutritious. We got our Masala Tea and Ginger Tea with honey. I sent my laundry to the front desk and got a reasonable bill. They returned the washed and dried laundry the following afternoon. In contrast, Bumthang hotel charged more for laundry. We loved the proximity to the dzongs and shopping areas.

Lovely hotel on the hill with a beautiful view of Punakha Dzong and the valley behind it. The food at the restaurant was rather bland, however, cooked with salt or spices. Fortunately, the kitchen will provide ezay on request.

Amazing view of the Punakha Dzong. The hotel sits atop a hill overseeing the wonderful town of Punakha. The fresh air in the quiet winter morning was such an indulgent feeling. The room was big and had basic amenities. Wish the heater was a bit stronger. Overall, great stay!

Amazing Hotel… loved the place. As the name says. Its a heaven. Situated on the hill top giving a scenic view of Punakha river, grand Fortress and mountain ranges and valleys. Room is equipped with a heater and all the amenities a hotel should provide. Balcony at the hotel room adds to the romantic touch giving a panoramic.
View of Punakha.
Food is awesome, tasty. They provide Indian cuisine which adds to the fun.
Hotel staff are friendly and their service is prompt.
Hotel Zhingkham is 1000 % recommended if you wanna enjoy the beauty of Punakha.
One noticeable thing was, as we entered our room, heater was already on which kept the room warm to beat the temperature outside as it was around 11°

Simple hotel with basic amenities. Heating in room is good but can be improved in the bathroom. Fantastic view of the Punakha Dzong. Food from the in house restaurant is acceptable.
We tried the spa from the hotel and whilst the room is basic, the deep tissue massage I had from my male masseur is good and there is ample pressure applied skill-fully. Cannot say the same for the female therapist whom my spouse had.

The resort is good but not recommended for senior citizens and persons with health issues or disabilities.
I was given room. 401, had to climb 97 steps to reach the room from dining area.
97 steps mean approx 7 stories.
There are rooms above 401 too.
No lifts.
There are no sign boards in the premises showing location of rooms and once can get lost and tired after climbing all these steps.
