Central Hotel, Phuentsholing, was the first hotel in Bhutan that I stayed at, and it truly impressed me. The hospitality and warmth shown by the reception staff and the rest of the team were very welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located near the Bhutan immigration office at the India–Bhutan border, making it easy to walk there directly from the immigration office.
We checked in quite late, as the cab ride from Bagdogra Airport to Phuentsholing takes around four hours. We had requested packed dinner to be kept ready in our room, and the staff arranged it for us. The food was good, although it was vegetarian despite our request for non-vegetarian food.
Our stay was very comfortable, and we had a balcony with a nice street view. The complimentary breakfast the next morning had a good variety, and the South Indian dishes were especially delicious.
The only inconvenience I experienced was during the end of our trip, when we checked into Central Hotel again and were given a room in the back building, which does not have a lift.
We also had a very delicious non-vegetarian lunch at their rooftop restaurant. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay during my recent trip to Bhutan, and I highly recommend Central Hotel to anyone visiting Phuentsholing.
