Ibis Cotonou

Ibis Cotonou benefits from an excellent location, close to the airport, shopping mall, restaurants, and landmarks such as the Amazon statue. Being inside a secure compound shared with Novotel gives a sense of safety, and the free hourly airport shuttle is convenient. The room size is acceptable for one person, and the presence of a small fridge is a useful touch in Cotonou’s hot climate.
However, the overall experience falls short, especially given the price of more than 100 USD per night. The rooms are extremely basic and lack standard amenities like a kettle, slippers, or a bathrobe. Housekeeping was inconsistent, with toiletries poorly refilled and towels not properly replaced, sometimes even removing the bathmat without providing a new one. Breakfast was particularly disappointing considering the 12 USD charge: the selection was limited, items like eggs and cheese were not replenished for long periods, and the coffee was so diluted it was almost undrinkable.
In short, while the location, security, and shuttle service are positives, the hotel does not offer value for money. The limited amenities, weak housekeeping, and below-standard breakfast make Ibis Cotonou an underwhelming choice for travelers expecting comfort and service that match the price point.

The hotel Ibis is very close to the airport, the ambiance is very good. The staff was supportive. There was no electric cattle in the room, one small refrigerator. Also no locker in the room. The breakfast was good with different variety of juices, fruits, vegetables and cereals along with tea and coffee. Hotel Ibis also offered free airport drop. Also gym facility available starting from 8 AM.

The stay was perfect until my last day when water was running down from the air conditioning unit. I had to get out of the shower and quickly report it at the front desk. This is around 7:00 am. Simply because I couldn’t reach the front desk from the line in the room. The door stayed widely opened until whoever came to clean the unit and the water finished his job. Privacy wise I don’t think it was okay.

An Ibis is an Ibis — pretty much assured of the same facilities and level of service.
What I didn't expect on this occasion was the appalling service when I arrived at the hotel. I'd already confirmed my reservation and checked-in on line. I'd confirmed the time at which I would be arriving. So I fully expected to turn up at the reception desk and receive my keycard.
Yet I had to wait more than an hour at the hotel's reception, because there was no room ready. No explanation was given, no placatory drink was offered while I waited. It was not a good start to my stay.

It is basically a bed and restroom. No hot water the first two days, no coffee pot or a way to heat water. Breakfast was minimal, don't believe the photo's posted. No restaurant for dinner. Just a very basic necessity in this hotel and there are much better close by.

Apart from being near to the airport, ibis does not offer anything more. The rooms are tiny enough to feel like a lock up, breakfast options are not convenient for everyone and interior of the rooms are as minimalist as they could to save the money. Not recommended unless you are right on the budget.

Our stay at Ibis Cotonou was fantastic. The complimentary buffet breakfast was a standout, featuring a great selection of items.
The rooms were comfortable and well-designed, typical for an economy hotel but definitely worth the price. They had everything we needed for a pleasant stay, and the cozy atmosphere made it easy to relax after a day of exploring.
The hotel is also conveniently located, making it easy to access local attractions, markets, and dining options. This prime location allowed us to make the most of our time in Cotonou.
We appreciated the hotel’s focus on security. With 24-hour surveillance and attentive staff, we felt safe during our time there.

Been my home for the last 5 days. Close to the airport. Clean rooms. Timely and friendly service. Very secure area and quiet environment. You wont have issues with remote work as Wi-Fi was super fast.

Spent a few days for work. The reception desk and kitchen staff are very accommodating. However, the hotel is not responsive. I booked an airport pick up and they didn't show up. I remained stranded at the airport on arrival. Also, room service is not a thing, except liaising with the nearby Novotel.

My experience was good. However the book service is not yet finetuned. My experience I booked for 26th Aug to 04 Sept due to work reason I had extend to 06th. Unfortunately it was not possible to be done by IBIS I had to reach to NOVOTEL office. I am coming back to Cotonou on 15th Sept, I tried to book but no room available, the same experience. Kindly work on that.

I wish there was a zero rating. I stayed at ibis for a week (paid over $100 per night). I’ve paid less in other major cities around the world and received way better service and amenities. The staff is quite arrogant. And the hotel is below average for the price you pay. The very first night, after checking in from a long delayed flight of over 36 hours, I was woken up by the staff at 10.30 pm just to get the iron box from me. That’s how much they skimp on amenities. My colleague, who had recovered from COVID over five days ago, was removed from the outdoor patio of the neighboring Novotel hotel, despite wearing a mask and maintaining social distance. What beats logic is that Mr Nordine, the rude manager who thinks he is bigger than his customers, was fine for us to sit in Ibis patio but not in Novotel. That shows how discriminatory they are towards people who pay less and stay in ibis.
The shower was a nightmare, alternating between scalding hot water for 10 seconds and freezing cold water for the next 10 seconds, regardless of how you adjusted the handle. One of my other colleagues was woken up in the middle of the night with some drilling work which could not wait till morning.
This is, without a doubt, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and also the most insulting. I will never stay at this hotel again in my life.

At the heart of Cotonuo where a lot of high end stuff are accessible.
It is about 5 minutes from the international airport, 20 minutes to the main town, and 15 to fin areas like clubs.
They have live music over the weekends and the music is really nice, danceable and transcends coasts.
Their standard rooms are a bit small, but very neat, the food options are modest about 4 different options for breakfast.
Sometimes it's really good, sometimes not so much, they don't vary too often as well.

Close to airport.
Cozy rooms.
Dirty floor.
Limited breakfast option.
Over all ambience is good.
No room service.
Even they failed to manage a small toothpaste and stopped responding even.
Choose this hotel just for outer ambience which mostly belongs to Novotel.

Safe and private location for the hotel. They do have a small bar with staff till 11pm. Rooms are in the smaller size, in my opinion compared to Ibis I've stayed in the European region. The kitchen serves late as well. Entree are just okay, not much choice for dessert.

Close proximity to the airport which is good. The staff are very good and polite. But the rooms are small and damp. The floor in the rooms and corridor is damp and can cause allergies because the AC in the room literally drips water on the floor.

My experience was not great. Only basic in room amenities. You dont even get a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. We paid what an average hotel costs on my other travels, meaning it's not good value for money. I also didn't enjoy breakfast as they just didn't provide a simple thing like fried eggs, even after repeatedly asking.

The quality of the staff, the warm welcome. We had a great time my children and I ate well. I recommend Ibis. Thank you.
