Crown Suites Hotel

I have given this facility an average rating due to the fact that there were some very positive aspects however they were contrasted with some very negative aspects. For instance, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is superb, the breakfast was very nicely done with a variety of selections. The carpets in the halls and our room were new as was the mattress. The bedding was very nice too. The wooden furniture appears to all be new and in good repair but the table, dining chairs and chaise longue were of the wrong size and use for the room and there was no sofa or easy chairs. The kitchen was poorly equipped. For example it has a pitcher but no glasses. The trim molding around the door was missing. There was black mold on the caulking between the tub and tile which should be treated with a little bleach. There is a sewer gas smell throughout the upper floors of the hotel. This usually happens when the plumbing system doesn’t use p-traps (a curved pipe that has water in it to stop the gasses from backing up into the room). This last item really offsets some of the other more positive things that have been done in this older building.
The Panoramic restaurant was excellent. We ate there several times and thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The staff were wonderful.

Despite of the bad comments I have read with some of the guests who stayed in this property. I can say the guests have their own views and opinions. In my opinion, this property is not bad at all! Staffs are accommodating and is willing to assist whenever they can. If your a guest staying in an economy room (like I do) ☺️ please do not expect too much as it is good for backpackers and budget travelers. All economy rooms I can say are smoking since I can smell the cigarette smoke of the other room. So far, we can sleep comfortable @ night and our bathroom is good and well maintained. Breakfast I can say is a typical local dish which I like too! 😊

This hotel was the only sore spot in our visit to this wonderful city. It is listed as a five star hotel, but they got that 12 years ago and do not deserve it any more.
The staff hardly knew any English, so when we put the "Please clean up this room" sign, they thought it was "Do not disturb" and did not clean.
We were rudely refused towels for the pool, only after going back up to reception we got them.
The suite was plain, the mattress good but the pillow awful. The third bed for my son was a thick mattress shoved into the main bedroom.
The kitchen contained 1 glass for 3 people… then 3 coffee cups, 3 plates, 3 knives, forks, spoons… very "generous". There was no dish soap, so we had to buy our own. The breakfast was average minus, and very expensive considering how cheap food is in Baku.
On Friday and Saturday night there was loud music from some night-club nearby, and we had 2 days with breaks in electricity due to construction in a near building.
The worst part was the shower, which had rust on the piping, low pressure, and the water kept changing from warm to hot to cool…
I guess we should have complained and asked for another room, but we did not think about it, and nobody from the staff asked us if everything is OK or if we needed anything.

I booked The Crown Hotel in Baku as I was attending the Formula One Race. The Hotel stated it is Five Star and the photos of the rooms showed online that it was floor boarded, bright, and had lavish furnishings with a Sea View. Upon checking in I was given my card keys to my room and found it to be dark (no ceiling lighting), dirty floral carpets, damaged equipment, exposed electrical wiring, and opposite a building site. I immediately complained to management and was offered an adjacent room which was identical, only that the lighting was marginally better but it smelt of stale smoke. When I complained I was informed there were no other rooms. All night the club on the top floor had loud base music resonated through my room until 4:30am and during the morning from 8:30 am the staff would shout along the corridors and the building works outside started. The noise was essentially nearly 24hrs. I had no rest at all! The staff and management just ignored my complaints. Overall it was noisy, smelly, dangerous, and the staff didn’t care and ignored me. I would NEVER stay here again.

The location of the hotel and view from my was very good. However, the Hotel is not maintained well. When we reached our room was still being prepared. As we entered, the room had a very peculiar foul smell that made us very uncomfortable to stay in. We had to keep the windows open for hours, still we could smell it. Despite complaining, they came and checked but did not even offer to change the room. The bathroon lock was broken too. The breakfast was sad, nothing much in the range and boring.
We were stayed for 2 nights, but it was let down and bad experience to stay there. It should be a 2 start hotel, and definitely not a 5 star hotel.
