Explorer Hotel Hinterstoder

It’s a normal hotel, nothing fancy about it. It has the advantage of beeing near the main parking area. To be honest, everything about that area is small, so would say that the hotel is quite ok, worth trying.

The cleanliness was unbeliavable! Staff friendly and helpful and the hotel total empty because of end of winter season. The equipment of our room was so useful, sitting in the window perfect, we love style of Explorer hotel and we will definitely come back soon!

The only positive thing was that it was very quiet at night and the air was fresh (with the balcony door wide open). Otherwise, it's a fairly large hotel with outdated furniture. Things are worn out and would need a bit of an upgrade. The cleanliness was ok, but not at the highest level. The room was very small and hot during the day. There was a small balcony but it was very dirty and impractical. Breakfast was varied, but the ingredients were not of high quality. There is a small kitchen at breakfast where you can fry your own eggs — looks nice at first sight, but everything sticks to the pans and we had to change all our clothes after breakfast because of the smell. There are no activities for the children, absolutely none. The hotel is situated in a very nice valley, but the micro location looks pretty bad, overlooking a huge car park, they have no park or green area. In short, not the most pleasant experience, especially for the price they charge.

The Explorer Hotel is great, internet is awesome but the sorrounding nature is even better. The active card is an awesome addition to the hotel booking so one can cheaply explore the hiking trails and magnificent scenery.
Recommended if someone would like to just retreat from the noise of everyday life in comfort.

After a bit of a drive there is a lot of room to park your car.
The friendly reception and check-in went smooth and fast.
The room is spacious and has a lot of places you can put stuff, which is handy.
There is also a small bacony, just be aware, neigbours can easily look into the room next door.
Bed, pillows and bathroom were excellent.
Despite the many race fans in the hotel it never felt crowded.
Breakfast was fresh and good.
Dinner was disappointing and the only point of improvement.
It was either pizza or pasta … and there is limited dining in the surrounding area.
So if you plan to stay longer, think twice.
There is also a bar with big screen and a terrace.
On arrival you also get a tourist discount card, giving you free access on the ski-lift.

Excellent experience. Very friendly staff — Raphael especially, good price and only few minutes from cableway.

The rooms were good and breakfast was really nice. There was an initial miscommunication with the hotel staff, which meant we paid for cancellation fees because of strikes from the Deutsche Bahn. But even after fully paying the bill, they gave us a refund for the cancellation fees so that was highly appreciated.
I would recommend to grab dinner somewhere else in town if you are staying at the explorer hotel.

+ski room equiped with heaters for shoes.
+very friendly/helpful staff.
-TVs without Netflix, Disney+, etc.
-no pool, jaccuzzi.
-no sausages for breakfast.

:) Loved the room, it is very well organised, with enough space to leave your luggage. The big window with a bench is great for chilling and enjoying the view of the surrounding mountains!

Very pleasant location for hikers. Lots of renting services nearby. The rooms are clean and organized very well. The breakfast is nice and satisfying. In my case, no soap or shampoo was in the bathroom.
Overall, this is an amazing hotel with great view and location.
